Chapter 10 #4

Allie rolls her eyes at me. “You’re leaving out the good bits. I need the good stuff, Sitka.”

“He kissed me,” I admit. “He said the only reason he took this trip was so he could see me.”

“God, that’s sweet. He’s a good kisser, isn’t he?”

My face heats at the memory of how good his mouth had felt. “Insanely good. I have nothing to compare it to, but it was the kind of kiss where I know there’s no way anyone else could’ve done it better.”

“He’s so gorgeous,” Allie says, “I’m not at all surprised he’s good with that mouth of his. I bet he has a huge dick, too. God, you’re so lucky.”

I smile again and say, “He does. I haven’t seen it yet, but I felt it and that thing is fucking huge.” I spread my hands out to give her a visual and she gives an envious groan and lets her head fall back onto the pillow.

“I wish my night had ended like that.”

Turning my face so I can see her better, I ask, “How did it end?”

“Well, after Dima acted like a psychotic caveman, which I’d usually be down for by the way, he grabbed my arm and hauled my ass all the way down the hill and then shoved me into his truck. He was so furious he wouldn’t even talk to me.”

“That doesn’t strike you as odd?” I ask. “They’re all protective, but come on. That’s way over the top, especially after the whole Tell me why your ass is sore blowout.”

She sighs but doesn’t say anything, so I decide to cut to the chase and ask, “Do you like Dima?”

“I find him infuriating,” she says, making me smile.

“That’s not an answer, but it feels like a confirmation.”

“It doesn’t matter,” she says. “He will never act on it. When I finally got him to talk, he kept saying that I shouldn’t have been there, that it wasn’t safe, and that he doesn’t want me to go again.

I told him he could go straight to hell with that bullshit and that my ass would be at the next race. ”

“I bet he loved that,” I say, huffing out a laugh at what my cousin’s reaction must’ve been.

“Yeah, he didn’t take it well, especially when I asked him why he was this upset about another man touching me.

He stopped the truck and asked me what the hell I meant by that.

” She rolls her blue eyes and mutters, “I was such an idiot, but I swear I can feel the sexual tension between us. I’m not just imagining it because I’m dying to get some dick. I swear I’m not.”

“I know you’re not,” I tell her. “You’ve never once flirted with the guards or tried to get something going with any of the guys.

You’re not related to any of them. They’re all fair game, but I know you’re not going to.

You may tease about doing it, but I know you better than that, Allie.

You want dick, but I think we both know you really want a certain someone’s dick. ”

“Yeah, and I think we both know that’s never going to happen, especially after I told him that if he was this mad because another man touched my ass, then maybe he should just stop being a coward and grab onto it himself.”

“Oh shit,” I whisper.

“Yeah,” she agrees, “oh shit. He did not take it well.”

“What did he say?”

“He insisted that wasn’t what this was about, that he was just protecting me like he would any other member of the family.” She groans and stares at the ceiling. “He said he thought of me like a sister.”

“Bullshit,” I say, never more sure of anything in my life.

“I’ve seen the way he looks at you. There’s nothing sisterly about it.

He’s just trying to convince himself that’s what he thinks.

Also, the other night when they all went out with Damien and Ev, guess who came home early instead of hitting the strip clubs? ”

She turns to face me again. “Are you serious?”

“Yep, he came home, said he didn’t feel like going.”

“He never passes up an opportunity to go to that fucking club,” she says, and I can hear the anger in her voice. It must kill her every time he goes out, knowing he’s out at strip clubs or picking up women.

Reaching out, I grab her hand and squeeze it. “I’m really sorry, Allie. I wish I’d known how you felt. I hate that you’ve been holding all this inside.”

“I’m fine. Besides,” she says, and I hear a touch of defiance coming out in her voice, “I’m planning on proving him wrong. He thinks of me as a sister? I’m going to call his bluff and see what happens.”

“Now that sounds like the Allie I know and love,” I tell her, relieved to see the spark coming back to her eyes.

“So when are you sneaking out to meet Damien?”

She laughs at my surprised look and says, “Oh come on, I know that’s why you wanted to stay over.”

“That’s not the only reason,” I say. “You know I love hanging out with you.”

“Oh please we hang out all the time. You’d be crazy to not sneak out to be with him.

” When I hesitate, feeling bad about leaving her alone after what she’s just said, she says, “Don’t you dare.

Go have fun.” She shoots me a wicked grin.

“I have a plan to hatch anyway. It’s time to knock Dima on his ass. ”

I grin over at her and then grab my phone, asking Damien when he can meet.
