Chapter 28

I walk into Lorenzo's office and find him deep in thought, chin resting on his hand as he shuffles through some papers. He looks up at me and smiles.

“Still awake, my love?”

I walk slowly toward him and settle onto his lap.

“It's late—aren't you coming to bed?” I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss his lips.

He licks his lip where I kissed him and murmurs,

“I need to figure out how to handle some things that have been driving me crazy.”

“You should get some rest and pick this up tomorrow—it's late. You need to take care of yourself, Don Lorenzo.” I stand up, take his hand, and pull him to his feet.

He stands and follows me, locking the office and taking the key with him. We head upstairs to the bedroom. I unbutton his shirt and kiss his firm, muscular chest.

“Go take a shower to relax, and I'll give you a massage.”

He smiles and finishes undressing as he steps into the shower. I wait for him on the bed. Soon he emerges wearing nothing but his underwear, and the sight is pure temptation.

He lies on his stomach. I climb on top of him, pour body oil onto his skin, and start massaging his back.

“Is the problem you need to solve related to the organization?” I ask.

“Yes. And it needs to happen soon,” he says, then yawns.

“It'll work out, you'll see.”

I keep massaging, and when I ask if he can tell me what it is, he doesn't answer. I look at him—he's asleep.

I carefully climb off him and gaze at his beautiful face, his perfect body clad in nothing but underwear. I really am so lucky to have a man like this all to myself.

I turn off the lights and lie down, wrapping my arms around him. Even in his sleep, he pulls me close and molds his body around mine. I feel a twinge of fear at the thought that I'll never be able to sleep without this man again.

Two days later...

Lorenzo left so early that I didn't even see him go. I'm in my room when my phone rings, and I answer.

“Hello?”

“Aurora, if you want to see your sister alive, come downstairs quietly, find the gardener Maike, and leave with him.”

“Who is this?”

“That doesn't matter. Do you want your sister alive or dead? Are you coming?”

“Yes, I'm coming.”

“Don't tell anyone, and leave your phone behind,” the voice on the other end says.

“Okay.”

I leave my phone behind and slip downstairs as quietly as I can. When I find Maike, I say,

“Maike, you're supposed to take me to where my sister is.”

“Come with me.”

I follow him, and we leave the mansion.

“Where are we going?”

“I don't know, Lola. I want you to know that I don't agree with this. I'm only here because I have to be.”

We get into a car. He puts a blindfold over my eyes, and we drive off.

We drive for a long time, and then I'm pulled out of the car and led somewhere—I have no idea where. When a door closes behind me, they remove my blindfold. Maike is gone. Two strange men I've never seen before stand there, staring at me.

“Sit down there, little princess of the Tropical Wolves.”

“What do you want? Where's my sister?”

“We don't want anything. But someone will be here soon to talk to you.”

I sit down, and the two of them leave. My nerves spike as I think about Sofia. Is someone with her? I feel tears welling up because I'm terrified. I need to take care of my sister—I promised her, and I feel like I'm failing.

And now I'm here, and no one knows. Lorenzo is going to lose his mind when he realizes I'm missing, but he won't be able to find me because even I don't know where I am.
