58. Epilogue Arden

I wake the next morning with the feeling that I’m being watched. I sit up a little bit and look at my mates who are all still sleeping in the bed. Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I stretch. When my eyes open again, I let out a shriek.

The guys all bolt upright in the bed, and go on the defensive. When Zorvan locates the source of my anxiety, he relaxes a fraction.

“King Ardeth,” this is an interesting surprise. “Who let you into my room?”

“When I arrived, I was horrified to find a pile of bodies on your grounds. When I started to panic, Esrend told me where I could find you.”

“Some sort of ‘grandfather’ code?” Zorvan snarks. “Well, if you could give us a few minutes, we’ll get presentable and meet you in the sitting room,” Zorvan says and gestures toward the door.

“Very well. Do not dally. We have a lot to discuss.”

Once he’s in the other room, I exhale heavily. “So that’s my great grandfather?”

“In the flesh,” Zorvan mutters.

“Well, this should be interesting.”
