CHAPTER 35

Amara panicked. “Kaelith!”

His grip on Amara intensified, his fingers tightening like a vice, as he forcefully handled her, leaving her trapped and powerless in his grasp.

“You’re hurting me!” Panic surged through Amara as the brush slipped from her fingers, its descent to the carpet marked by the ruinous trail of white staining its pristine surface.

Kaelith clenched his jaw and looked down at his hand on her wrist and loosened his grip but did not let go.

“Tell me, little one. Who did this?” Gritting his teeth, his eyes ablaze with seething rage. Amara gulped, her eyes welling up with tears... “Why…why do you care?”

He clenched his jaw. “I care. Everything involving you concerns me. Now say the bastard’s name before I do it my way. And I assure you my ways are more violent than your silence.”

She remained quiet and lowered her eyes. What was she to say? That Rafael, did it? Her husband? The one she should feel protected with tormented her nights and days.

Kaelith observed her contemplation, his teeth grinding in frustration as he asked in a low tone, "Was it Rafael?"

Her eyes widened as she snapped her head at him.

“I…No!” She panicked shaking her head.

Kaelith scoffed. “As much as you amuse me, I hate liars, Amara.”

Amara flinched under the weight of his intense gaze, nodding slowly as she lowered her gaze, a wave of embarrassment washing over her.

“Was it consensual?” His voice lowered, deeper than the dark abyss in her chest, knowing full well what her answer was going to be. “He forced you?” He added.

Amara sniffed, memories of Rafael's actions flooding back. Kaelith restrained his anger, took a deep breath, and gently pulled her into the comforting embrace of his chest.

“He did, didn’t he?” When as an answer, a whimper escaped her lips, he growled. “I’ll kill that bastard.”

He released his grip on her and began storming towards the door, frustration etched on his face. In a desperate attempt to grab him, Amara's small hands clenched his bicep, holding on with a determined grip as she pleaded with her eyes for him to stay.

“Kaelith! Don’t hurt him please!” She pleaded as he turned around and looked down at her. Still a selfless little girl.

His teeth gritted in a surge of anger, and he seized her by the wrists, shaking her forcefully in a moment of heated frustration.

“Do you love him?” He asked angrily. His eyes spoke volumes of the rage he was holding in.

Amara gulped. “I don’t know.” She stuttered. Kaelith looked into her teary eyes.

“Do you love me?” Kaelith asked suddenly. Amara looked at him, and then her eyes lowered with a despairing smile.

“Do my feelings matter? Neither of you brothers cares what I want. You view me as the same object Rafael views me as.” Kaelith gritted. So, she was not going to give him an easy answer.

He pushed her against the wall and held her hands above her head. His mouth slammed against her wobbly lips as Kaelith kissed her fiercely.

“You’re my devotion,” he kissed her neck. “You’re my breath,” his lips moved to her shoulder as he sucked right above the marks Rafael left on her. “My life,” Amara shuddered when he possessively squeezed her waist. “You’re my victory and my defeat, Amara.”

She buried her face into his neck to hide her blushing face and she could smell his cologne.

His hands found her neck as he kissed her forcefully as she whimpered, pulling away he looked deeply into her eyes. “Does it answer your questions now? You wanted to know what I feel for you, do you know now?”

Amara swallowed hard.

Kaelith was not ashamed or shy about what he felt for her.

“I can burn the whole world with what I feel for you, my little flower. So never ask me if my love is subjective, cause it is a blend of inferno.” He mumbled against her lips. His naked chest pressed against her clothed body.

Her breathing quickened as she took in a shaky breath.

“Asking me what I feel for you is like testing the power of wildfire. I can fucking consume you whole with the flames of my desire, Amara. Fuck. I can even burn myself to see you shine, but never let a flame touch you.” Standing there in her bare feet, Amara was acutely aware of how much larger his body was compared to hers, with her head barely reaching his shoulder and each of his arms thicker than half of her torso.

His hands appeared dark against her pale skin, and she shivered when he moved his palm down to her belly, the width of his open hand nearly spanning the distance between her hip bones.

His erection prodded her side, the thin material of his pajama pants doing little to conceal its heat and hardness.

This was a sin. She tried to push him away but he only tightened his hold.

Amara gulped shaking her head. “We are not meant to be. It doesn’t matter what I feel for you or what your…

. thoughts about me are. This isn't a movie where we can change scenes-it's life, Kaelith.

Everything has been scripted by God beforehand.

We can't alter what he has written." Hooking his fingers in the collar of her dress, he pushed it down making her thrash.

Kaelith chuckled, his hand lowering down to her hips as he squeezed her sides possessively.

“If not the script, then flip the roles, let me be your husband for a day, and I’ll show you how a wife like you should be treated.”

The anger in his eyes slowly subsided with something she couldn’t name. Her hands were covered with paint as she placed her hands on his naked chest immediately shivering from the contact.

“Don’t say words you don’t mean.” She stuttered unable to hold his gaze.

He quickly grabbed her hands and interlaced their fingers as the paint smeared on his palms. He grabbed both of her wrists with his single hand and held them above her head.

His paint-filled hands slid down her trembling arms resting on her elbows as he cupped the flesh and pulled her to his naked chest. Amara gasped.

“What are you doing?” She anticipated with wide eyes. The tensed aura turned into a heated one.

“What do you think? I am giving you a better view. This way you can paint me however you like.” He mused. He nuzzled his face into her neck and leg out a groan. “Do you even have any idea what you’re doing to me, you heartless little girl?”

Amara took in a sharp breath as she blushed for some inexplainable reason.
