Chapter Four
Felix snapped his head up and glared at him. “How can you get to him without alerting those two bitches in the other room?”
Willy smiled at him. “I have my ways. As soon as I get him out, then you can move in and take down those wicked women. Agreed?”
Viktor studied him for a long moment then he slowly nodded at him. “Let us know as soon as he is free and we will storm the place. The Ghosts are outside and will take care of the guards on the roof while we take care of the ones inside. Just let us know when he’s free.”
Felix reached for his phone and texted Sergi.
‘We found him and he is chained to the wall by the Dmitricoff sisters. We are waiting for him to be free before we deal with them. Viktor and his men are here along with the Ghosts, Willy and Briar. Willy says he can get Misha free so we are letting him do that before we attack.’
It took Sergi a moment to get back but his text came in loud and clear, ‘Just get my son free and return with everyone.’
Felix looked up at Willy and gave him a nod.
“You all should go back to the basement and I’ll bring him down to you,” Willy said then disappeared down the second hall.
Time dragged on and on as they all waited. There was no sound in the house other than the TV coming on in the main room.
Felix led them back to the basement and they were all waiting there. They could hear the television and the sound of voices upstairs but no other sounds could be heard.
Briar looked the least nervous. When Felix growled at her she looked at him and calmly asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Can’t you at least act concerned about what’s going on upstairs?”
Briar shrugged. “Why? Willy has everything under control. You have to have faith, cousin.” She smirked.
Felix growled and his hands clenched into fists. “Oh, so now you claim kinship?”
Briar shrugged again. “You seem to want me to believe it, maybe I’m just starting to?”
Felix stared at her. “Or maybe you are just being a smartass.”
Briar smiled and touched her nose. “Can’t fool you, can I?
” She sighed then spoke quietly, “Something you guys have to realize about street people, we don’t make promises we can’t keep.
Willy has had a hard life here since he left Russia.
But the streets didn’t beat him. Back home, he led a life of privilege but here he had to start all over and learn how to live with nothing.
Some of us only have our word to go by and achieve respect.
So, if he says he can do something, then he will do it. ”
Just then, Willy came into the basement with Misha.
Misha was under his arm as he looked around the room and smiled. “Good, you are all here. Are you ready to kick some ass, gentlemen?” Misha grinned.
“Just waiting on you.” Viktor shook his head at his attitude while he looked so beaten up, then he looked at Willy. “How the hell did you get him out without making noise?”
Willy smiled. “Well, if you didn’t hear me, neither did they. That’s what we needed. Now the rest is up to you.”
Briar looked over at Felix. “I want to be there when you confront those sisters.”
“Why?” Felix asked.
She shrugged and replied, “I just do.”
“This situation might turn on a dime.” Viktor stared at her. “We can’t protect you.”
“I’m not asking you to protect me, I can protect myself.” Briar growled. “I know one of their voices but I just can’t remember why.”
Misha snapped his gaze over to her. “How is that even possible? That whole family has been in hiding for years.”
Briar shook her head. “That’s just it, I don’t know how but there is something about her voice. I need to figure it out.”
Felix just shook his head.
Deter and Viktor began unpacking their weapons, handing them out to the rest of the group.
Viktor texted his Nomads and Ghosts. Then he racked his weapon. He looked up at Felix and nodded. “Shall we join the party?”
They all moved to the main hall.
Grisha was there ahead of them as he carefully opened the door to the main floor and tossed a flash grenade into the so-called living room where the sisters and the man sat. Then he quickly shut the door.
The flash bang went off.
Now there was screaming and chaos on the other side of the door.
At Viktor’s nod, Grisha opened the door again.
The whole group all rushed into the room.
Pure chaos greeted them as the two women were trying to wipe their eyes and they were all kneeling on the floor while screaming that they couldn’t see anything.
One of them, Greta, tried to reach for the small handgun on the table but she couldn’t find it.
Deter rushed forward and grabbed it before Greta could get it. She was screaming about who was attacking them.
Bertha, the other sister was kneeling on the floor with her head down and she too was screaming about being blind.
The man there was covering his own eyes and laying still. He wasn’t screaming. Perhaps, he was trying to figure out what was going on.
When the group rushed in and took their positions, the occupants of the room could hear them but they couldn’t see them.
Finally, the man in the group demanded, “What the hell is going on? Why did you ambush us? We haven’t done anything wrong here.”
Viktor and Deter grabbed the screaming women and dragged them to their feet.
Greta snarled and demanded to know, “Who the bloody hell are you? How dare you break into our home?”
Viktor growled and told her in Russian to just shut up and not to waste his time.
Greta stilled and her tears ran down her face but her eyes were beginning to clear. “You are Russian? You are here to kill us? Why?”
“So you claim that you did nothing wrong? What about kidnapping and chaining a man to the wall?” Felix asked her.
She slowly shook her head in confusion. “What the hell are you talking about? We didn’t kidnap anyone. We didn’t leave this place all day.”
“Oh, really?” Viktor asked, “Then why is there blood all over your clothes? Why was there a man chained in the other room, all beat to hell?”
Greta lifted her head a bit and snapped, “I do not know what you’re talking about. It’s just my son and my sister here with me.”
Félix stepped forward and asked, “Just your son and your sister? Then why are there three men on the roof with guns? What are they protecting if not your prisoner?”
With a feral growl, Greta lunged at the closest man to her.
Viktor saw it coming before she even moved as he grabbed her wrist and turned her around then he grasped her other wrist. He easily held them both behind her back.
Deter went over to them with the zip ties.
When they ziptied her wrists, she began screaming again.
Grisha and Ivan grabbed Bertha and did the same.
Matvey and Félix did the same to Greta’s son.
None of the three prisoners were happy at being caught.
Briar stayed back and listened, trying to see if her memory had failed her, but somehow she didn’t think it had. She knew she had heard that voice before but it was a long time ago.
She stepped out of the shadows.
Greta stopped struggling and just stared at her for a moment.
Briar reached up and took off her hat. Her long hair came tumbling down. She knew that she looked like her mother at the same age.
Greta paled when she saw her clearly and began to tremble. “W-who are you? You should have d-died twenty years ago. Why didn’t you die?”
Felix froze then looked between the two women. “You know her?” he barked.
Greta sneered. “Da, I know her, but I thought she died a very long time ago. That bitch dared to take my man and she almost did.”
Briar shook her head. She stared at Greta then she whispered, “I remember you now. You came to our house and you began to beat my mother. You told her she didn’t deserve the child in her belly.
You kept hitting her until she fell to the floor then you kicked her several times in the belly until she screamed and her water broke. ”
The whole room went silent.
