CHAPTER 2
*~* Breaker *~*
Waiting for something to happen is stretching my nerves.
I can feel myself getting ready to explode with the lack of action.
As Sergeant at Arms for the club, I am used to being busy.
My role is important to the club. I make sure all rules are followed, and issue discipline if needed.
Maintaining the safety of the club and its members can be difficult, especially when handling member disputes.
I am always involved in external disputes and if I think someone is a threat, stop them from entering the clubhouse, or even a meeting.
I am part of the enforcers and one of the first to jump into any trouble, physical or verbal.
But on the whole, I love my role in the club, take it seriously, and will forgo having a woman of my own unless she is worthy of my position.
Standing far enough back from the window but allowing me to see outside without being seen myself, I monitor the Broken Cobras wandering through the town. I also notice how the townsfolk stay out of the way. They even scurry into the nearest shop rather than pass them on the sidewalk.
I wish I had my phone, as I could take some videos to show Pres how fucked up this town is while the Cobras are running wild. I’m positive after this attack on me, Pres is going to go to war. The Cobras have instigated it with this move, but Pres will make sure we finish it.
Griller, our Enforcer, is probably biting at the bit to get here and get me out. We have been friends for a long time, and joined the club around the same time, going through the prospect stage and getting into shit together. He is not going to sit easily on this.
Thinking about my fellow officers of the club I know how they, and I, would react to one of us being taken, tortured or murdered.
Cannon, our VP would be as riled as Whack is, and so would Saddle the Road Captain.
We are thankfully on each other's wavelength, so I know they’ll be organizing something to get me out of here.
“Have you seen anything for us to worry about?” Molly asks as she steps to my side. Keeping herself back from the window.
“Only that the townsfolk are terrified of these fuckers. We’ve been enemies of the Cobras for years, but we have never had to go to an all-out war, but this is different because they had the nerve to snatch me after chasing me down.
Let’s wait and see what Pres does, and Molly, you are getting out with me.
I’ll keep you in my room at the clubhouse if necessary, and make you my Old Lady, on a temporary basis, of course.
” I look at her, and she looks shocked and annoyed at the same time.
I lift an eyebrow at her, but she huffs and walks away.
I chuckle to myself because she really has no choice at the moment. Not if she wants to stay alive.
The door opens, and Andy steps inside. He has a paper bag with something that smells good. “Everything okay, Andy?” I ask. I don’t want him to get hurt because he’s helping us.
“Everything is fine. I don’t think anybody saw you come into the shop.
Keep away from the window and rest. I don’t know how you plan to get away from here, but they are looking for you, I’m sure.
They are searching the town, in shops, some homes, and even the school.
If they come here, you’ll need to get out onto the fire escape.
It’s accessible from the bedroom window.
” Andy places the bag on the kitchen counter.
“I got you two BLTs and bags of chips. It’s not much, but it’s better than being hungry. ”
“That is great. Thank you.” Molly gives Andy a big and grateful smile, which has him blush a little. But Molly follows through with another sweet smile.
The day drags on as I’m not used to this hanging around. I strip to my jeans and socks, push all the furniture out of the way and do push-ups, squats, lunges and planks. I need to keep busy or my mind is going to explode.
Molly sits quietly after finding a book on Andy’s small bookshelf. Some science fiction thing, from what I can see. She keeps taking sneaky looks at what I’m doing, and I don’t miss the fact that she’s eyeing me up and down when she thinks I’m not looking.
Standing, I run my hand over my pecs, then down my torso over my abs.
Molly’s eyes follow the movement, and I have to turn away or I’m going to laugh.
She, however, surprises me when she speaks.
“You know, you have an incredible body. Maybe you should compete in one of those competitions they have for people that lift weights and stuff.”
“No time for shit like that. I’ve got more important things to do with my days.
” I head into the small kitchen area and pour a mug of water from the faucet, drink that one and refill.
Relaxing my head back when I’ve drunk enough, I think about how Pres is going to get us out of here.
He hasn’t said in detail, but I know he was ready to go to war, so I’m expecting something dramatic.
“What’s your president’s name?” Molly asks.
“We call him Whack.”
“What sort of name is that?”
I chortle. “Well, it’s his road name, and he got it from his momma.
When he was growing up, he was always into something, and she would whack the back of his head when telling him off.
When he became president of the club, he was cheeky to his momma and without thinking she whacked him.
Hence, we all started calling him Whack, and it stuck. ”
“That is funny,” Molly smiles.
“Well, don’t be saying that to him,” I give her a smile in return. “He can be touchy at times. He’s a good person, and he misses his mother now that she’s gone. He’s so proud she’s given him something he’ll carry until the day he dies, even then it’ll be inscribed for all to see.”
Taking a quick shower in the small bathroom, I return to the living area and settle on the couch. Closing my eyes and resting until Pres arrives.
Waking from what can only be described as sleeping like the dead, I shoot to my feet when I’m roughly shaken. Molly is standing in front of me, smirking. “Gee, Breaker, you wake like a bullet out of a gun. Maybe we should rename you, Bullet.”
“What’s wrong?” I ask, ignoring the Bullet comment.
“Andy has just been and told me to be ready. Apparently, there are a lot of bikes coming toward town. Andy’s friend who lives on the farm just outside town saw them coming. They are not coming in quietly either, Breaker.”
Nodding along with a smirk on my face, I just knew Pres was going to make a statement. “That’s good. Are you ready to come with me and get the fuck outta here?”
“Yes, I’m ready.” Molly turns to the window again, and I walk over to peer out the window next to her.
“Where’s Andy now?” I ask.
“He went to the store on the corner. He’s going to warn the owner in case things go bad,” Molly says. “He said that his friend might close the store so people will stay home.”
“Okay, let’s move out. We’ll stick to the shadows the best we can. Let’s go.” I step to the door and am shocked when Molly walks out of the kitchen area with a knife in her hand, handing me one as she reaches me.
“We need something to defend ourselves since we don’t have a gun. I’m not being taken by them again, and I’m not going to be raped by them either. I’ll cut their dicks off before that happens.”
I give Molly a nod, and we head out. I take her hand so I’m sure she’s right with me. As far as I’m concerned at this point we are in this together.
Standing in the shadows between shops on the edge of Main Street, we wait quietly. So far, we have only seen two of the Cobras riding past, and although they seem to look intently, and more than likely for us, they pass by without us being seen.
We feel the ground shaking slightly, right before hearing the roar of hogs approaching. I look at Molly and smirk right before murmuring, “My brothers are coming.”
Molly nods her head, but doesn’t return my excitement.
I suppose I can’t expect it as she doesn’t know us.
The mess with the Cobras isn’t going to endear her to a biker club either.
But she will find out we are good people if she gives us a chance.
I’ll help her find her stepsister once we get back to the clubhouse.
From where we are in the depths of the alley, the sound of so many bikes echoes from the walls.
Seeing the first few bikes pass, it’s time to show ourselves to my brothers.
Walking quickly down the alley, I step out onto the sidewalk and shout to my brothers.
The first to see me honk their horns, and it is soon taken up by those around them.
This is the signal to stop and prepare for battle.
“Whoa!” Hearing Molly’s quiet exclamation, I look at her and see the way she is staring at the sight before her. I can’t help but feel my chest swell with pride for my brothers. They sure as hell are a sight to behold.
I spot one of the club's vans approaching, and I can’t help but feel a pang for my missing hog.
I’d rather be riding my girl home than be in the back of a van.
Still, it could be worse. I could have been returning home in a body bag!
I’ll be back for my girl; there’s nothing surer than that, and the one called Fink will suffer my wrath.
Taking Molly by the waist, I hoist her through the open side door of the van as it slows.
I know she’ll be safe with a couple of brothers and me inside.
Hopping in beside her, I slide the door shut and grin at Bull, our tech guy, as he drives the van back into the center of the road and the bikes.
Riding shotgun is Pens, the club secretary, and he’s sporting a shotgun in case of trouble.
In the back with Molly and me are Bank, the treasurer, Wraith, with his customary carryall of weapons, and Jamie Grant, our very pretty local town doctor.
