CHAPTER 18
*~* Breaker *~*
I’ve been busy following up leads that Whack dished out to Griller, Bandit, and me. We split them up and followed our own lists. I’ve been all over town but seen no sign of Carrie-Anne, although it has been reported back to us that the black van has been seen in town.
Walking into Whack’s office, I give him a shake of my head. “Nothing.”
“Fuck’s sake, she’s a sneaky bitch. Slinks into town and out again with no one catching her. We have to grab her and get her gone once and for all.” Rubbing the back of his neck as he scowls. Anyone can see this is pissing Whack off, and that’s never a good thing to do.
“Nothing from Griller or Bandit?”
Shaking his head, “Nothing.”
I take a seat and look at Cannon who is standing quietly near the window. He is deep in thought, and I’m sure he’s trying to work out where the bitch is and how we are going to catch her.
“How about we set the women free to look around? You know they are damn sneaky, and they often get into shit without us knowing. But this shit would be for us.” I wait as I see Cannon thinking, though only for a moment, mind you, before he tentatively nods in agreement.
Whack leans back in his chair, rubs his chin and looks at Cannon. “Call Bank and Saddle in here.”
Cannon smirks and hastily leaves the office. Both Whack and I wait patiently for them to come back. I can see Whack thinking seriously about my suggestion.
Cannon, Bank and Saddle enter the office, and Cannon closes the door firmly behind him.
Which tells everyone in the clubhouse there is a meeting in progress.
Generally, Whack leaves the door slightly open so anyone can tap and poke their head inside.
It’s his way of always being available to the brothers, and never standing apart from them.
“Take a seat,” Whack says quietly, and once they are seated he begins. “You and I know your two women are sneaky bitches when they want to be. Only recently, for example, they snuck Molly out of here and were demonstrating with placards no less.”
Bank grunts, and Saddle nods. Both know something is coming, and it involves their women.
“We’ve been chasing our tails trying to find Molly’s stepsister with no success.
Now, that pisses me off more than I can tell you.
Why has she not fucked off yet? Why is she still trying to find Molly?
Why is she not as scared of the Cobras as she should be?
” Whack pauses for us all to consider a moment before continuing.
“We need a different approach.” Another pause, and I can see Bank is cottoning on to where this is going.
Bank grins. “You want Bri and Marcia to go on the hunt don’t you?”
Saddle sits up straighter, looks at Bank, then Whack. “Christ, Pres. You realize they are a force when they get together? You’ll lose control of them when they go out of the compound.”
“No, I won’t because they have earpieces, and they’ll talk to me the whole time or they’ll be pulled back here, whether they like it or not.
” Whack looks at Cannon who again leaves the office.
Turning to look at me, he smirks. “Well now, Breaker. Are you going to pull up your girly panties and claim Molly, or not? We need her rolled in and made an old lady so she has the full protection of the club, and a property patch on her back.”
“Yeah, I have plans.” I give everyone a fiendish look because I reckon I’m going to need to be devilish to corner my woman. Getting her to submit could be fun, and I’m looking forward to it.
Whack nods at me and then turns to Bank and Saddle. “What’s your thoughts on pulling in your women and letting them loose in town?”
“I’m okay with it, Pres.” Bank looks at Saddle before turning back to Whack. “Marcia is always watching these programs about catching murderers or some shit. She’ll think this is fuckin’ great.”
Saddle snorts. “Yeah, Bri is the same. They’ll find the bitch.
I’m positive about that Pres. But my concern is that they don’t always think about their safety.
How about we put Noah with them? He’s always with them on trips to town, and it’ll make it look normal.
Will gather fewer eyes while they do what they need to do. ”
“Okay, Breaker, Cannon. You both set this up along with Bank and Saddle. Get Noah in on what’s happening and why. I don’t want him blindsided.” Whack taps his desk, and we know that’s our cue to get out of the office and get this arranged.
Walking out of the office and following Cannon, Bank and Saddle, I stop when I get a text from Guardrail. Now he’s on duty to watch the front of Molly’s workplace and house.
Guardrail: Molly's not at work, she’s sneaked out.
Breaker: What the fuck were you doing?
Guardrail: I was here in front all fucking day.
Breaker: Start looking. I’m on my way.
“Molly has sneaked past Guardrail. I’m going into town to look for her. Let me know when you are set up, and I’ll inform Molly of what’s going to happen when I find her.” Cannon gives me a nod, and I quickly haul my ass out of the clubhouse and into town.
I ride around town for a while but don’t see any sign of Molly. My gut is twisting with nerves, and I’m not liking this one bit. I see nothing suspicious, and parking outside the shop that will be the barbers I see it’s locked, so she’s not here either! Goddamn, this woman is going to be trouble.
Vibration in my cut pocket alerts me to a text message. Quickly looking I see its Guardrail.
Guardrail: Molly is home at the house. Andy and Thorn escorted her. She’s safe, and it seems she visited the barber’s shop to look at it. Crisis over!
Breaker: OK. I’ll head there now.
Walking into Molly’s place, well ours since I’ve decided I’m moving in whether she likes it or not. I hear her humming, yeah, she’s no idea she’s in trouble.
“Molly!” I snap, doing my best to sound firm because honest to God she’s dancing around the kitchen while chewing on a hunk of bread.
“Ahhh…” Molly screeches, turns and sees me standing in the doorway right before she throws a chunk of bread at me. Which I catch and stuff in my mouth. “You scared the shit outta me. You’ve got to stop sneaking in here. What are you here for anyway?”
“You went off on your own, without your security. Guardrail was outside the practice watching and waiting for you. Why the fuck did you think it was okay to saunter off without him?”
“To be truthful, he wasn’t looking my way, and I couldn’t be bothered to cross the street, so I went to see Andy and Thorn. You know it’s only a few shops down on Main Street, you know where everybody is walking around and shopping.”
“It is not the point. You know you have a security detail, and you should have got his attention. Did you see anything that made you suspicious? Wary? Nervous?”
Molly suddenly stops chewing, moving or speaking.
Then, she looks directly at me. “Actually, as I was nearly at the shop, I felt a prickle at the back of my neck. But I saw nothing, so I didn’t worry about it.
Nothing came of it, so I think I was just over-reacting with everything that has happened. ”
“Stay inside now, or you will be in deep shit. I’m going to the clubhouse, but I’ll be back.
You do not go anywhere without an escort, Molly.
If you do, I’ll haul your ass back to the clubhouse and you really will be a prisoner.
” I lean into her so we are nearly nose-to-nose, making sure she gets the fact that I’m more than serious.
“When I come back, I want to discuss something with you about Bri and Marcia.”
“Okay. I’m going for a shower and then I’m going to watch TV for a while.” I kiss Molly on the tip of her nose, which has her close her eyes. I smile to myself as I step out of the house because she’s just perfect for me. Sassy, got guts, but she’s fucking beautiful.
Sitting in the rec room at the clubhouse, I lean over and grab Smoker’s attention.
“I’ve decided to sell my hog. If you can get me a buyer for her, then we’ll look at customizing another.
I can’t get over the fact Fink had his ugly ass on her.
I’m done. Let’s get rid of her and get me another.
Let’s get one that I can have Molly on the back without her moaning. ”
“If that’s how you feel I know a guy who’ll jump at the chance. But it may take him a couple of weeks to get her. He’s a nomad, so he could be well out of state. Leave it with me; he may transfer the cash and I will keep her for him.” Smoker takes out his phone and starts sending a text.
I go back to watching Bri and Marcia who are smiling and giggling at Pattie who is reaming the club girls for not cleaning properly. Now, it seems Pattie has taken her new role as lead club girl seriously and is double-checking what each of them are doing, or in this case, not doing.
Bri covers her mouth to hide the huge smile on her face when Pattie tells Mella she goes back in the kitchen and scrubs the floor on her hands and knees until it’s clean. Mella’s comment of not wanting to go onto her knees is met with Pattie’s, ‘Why not? You do it daily when you service the men!’
Cannon walks over and disrupts the view, and I look at him sharply because he has a serious frown on his face.
“Cobras have been seen in town. My street kids saw them and quickly informed me. Bear and Drifter are watching Molly’s house.
I doubled them up because I don’t want them getting caught out on their own. ”
“No problem. I’m moving in with Molly so they can leave when I get there. She’s not gonna like it, but that is tough. I’m gonna get her as my old lady one way or another.” We both chuckle at our own visions of how this will play out.
Walking into the house later in the evening, I lock up as the two brothers leave for the night. I walk into the living room and study Molly who is asleep on the couch. I pick her up gently and carry her to her bedroom, which thankfully has the door open because I wasn’t sure which was hers.
Laying her on the bed, I pull the covers up, but she suddenly sits up, smashes her forehead against mine and nearly knocks us both out. “Fuckin’ hell, Molly!”
“What are you doing?” Molly near enough bellows while rubbing her forehead.
“I was putting you to bed because you fell asleep watching the TV. I wasn’t going to leave you sleeping on the couch all night.” I rub my own forehead because, fuck, that hurt.
Scooting over to the other side of the bed, Molly jumps up and makes her way out of the bedroom. Of course, I’m trailing behind her. “Where are you going?”
Molly snorts, “I’m going to get a drink of hot chocolate before I go to bed for the night. I always sleep better after having chocolate.”
I mumble under my breath, “Well you didn’t have any trouble sleeping on the couch!”
“What did you say?”
Coughing slightly, I respond. “Nothing. But I want to talk to you about Bri and Marcia.”
“Why are you here at this time? Why is there an oversized travel bag near the couch?”
“Well, I need clothes while I’m living here.” I do my best to make it sound reasonable, but I’m waiting for the explosion.
“Living here? What do you mean by living here?” Molly is standing with her hands on her hips, and I can see she’s getting ready to fire on all cylinders.
“Well, you have the Cobras MC after your ass. You have a psychotic stepsister who keeps dropping you in the shit, and I’ve seen far too many brothers watching you walking around the clubhouse. Get used to my being here because I’m staying.”
Molly studies me for quite some time, and she comes to the decision that she’s not going to remove me, so huffs loudly, turns her back on me and mumbles, ‘Asshole.’
Twenty minutes later we are sitting in the living room, and I’ve explained what we are hoping Bri and Marcia will achieve. I can see Molly is mulling over the situation.
“I need to speak with them. Carrie-Anne is slippery as an eel, and they need to know some of her tricks. But I’m going with them when they search, if I’m not at work that is.
I won’t let Jamie down now that she’s trusted me to be her practice manager.
I love my job too, and I don’t want to lose it. ”
“You have a phone now, and you can contact Bri and Marcia. Maybe have them come here for a powwow?”
Molly grins. “Yeah, that would be good. I’ll do that tomorrow. I’ll get in touch and get them here. I don’t want you here though, or any of the fricking brothers.”
Chuckling I hold my hands up, showing surrender. But I know we’ve set the ball rolling, and I’m sure Carrie-Anne is going to be caught soon.
