Chapter 13

Bronson

Yeah, he should have made her his... a lot fucking sooner.

Cause the sight of that long, soft, glorious, blonde hair fanning across his chest... fucking worth it.

I parked my truck in front of the community center.

I had called ahead to see if the kid, Logan, would be there.

And when they said he was, I left the gym early.

Once I entered the building, Marina, the owner, smiled when she saw me and winked, “He’s over in the corner. Black shirt, blue jeans, red shoes.”

I nodded, “Thank you.”

The moment my eyes scanned the room, I saw him.

His little head was focused on some papers in front of him.

I walked over to him and dropped down to my knees.

His eyes came to me, then looked away, and then his eyes widened as he snapped his head back in my direction. I winked, “So, I hear you know my friend Lila. Is that right?”

He nodded.

His little mouth was hanging open.

I grinned.

Then I held out my hand for him, “I’m Bronson. Nice to meet you, Logan.”

“You.. you.. you know my name?” he asked as he placed his hand in mine.

I grinned, “Oh yeah. Lila told me you were a cool cat.”

He gasped, “Really?”

I grinned, “She did.”

And like Lila, this little boy slithered his way into my heart.

I stayed there for two hours.

And I had to bite back a smile when I declined to talk to anyone who wasn’t Logan.

The way his entire world seemed to light up... he didn’t know it, but he had just wrapped me right around his pinky finger.

And then... I had to clench my fists when his father came to get him and jerked him around.

I placed a call then.

To my lawyer.
