Chapter 1

‘The storms that blow through can only last for so long.’

– Ethan’s Secret Thoughts.

“Bugger, find your shoes. We’re going to be late.” I called up the stairs.

Melanie called back, “I’m hurryin’.”

Just then, there was a knock on my door.

Checking my phone, I didn’t see any notifications, and I frowned.

Who in the hell could be at my door this early in the morning?

Shaking my head, I headed to it, checked the small window, and frowned.

Then I opened the door and said, “Can I help you?”

He was in a black t-shirt and dark blue jeans, with black loafers on his feet.

“Ethan Griggs?” he asked.

I narrowed my eyes but said, “Yeah. Who are you?”

“You’ve been served.” He said as he handed me a manila envelope.

Before I could ask, “What the hell is this?” he had turned away and was walking down my driveway.

I watched as he climbed into a white sedan and then pulled away.

Closing the door, I heard Melanie coming down the stairs, “Found my shoes. Ready.”

I looked at her and smiled. This envelope would have to wait.

Five minutes later, we were in the car and headed to the school.

“You ready for your presentation day?” I asked as I turned on Turner Street, where the school was located.

“Yes. Aunt Tatum helped me with the decorations.”

“That’s good, sweet pea.”

Ethan Griggs. Oh, you are sinful, elegant, mouth-watering, panty-dropping, gorgeous man. It should be a crime to look that good.

And to lick your bottom lip, lord help me.

It was going to be a constant struggle not to let my cheeks flame red every time I was in his presence... and if you have red hair, natural red hair... You get it.

Fuck. My. Life.
