EPILOGUE… 7 months later
Landon “Breaker” Mercer
“Girl, you waddling like you about to drop any day now. How far along are you?” Ariyah was walking like her ass was in labor, but I loved every minute of it.
“Nana, it feels like it. When I drop this baby, your Jr can’t come anywhere near me.”
“Girl, please. I’m sliding in that cat as soon as that baby drop.” I was joking with her, but she already knew that. When we found out she was pregnant, we agreed she would have this one and then get back in the ring. Which is why she just waved me off.
“Yall not about to keep having all these babies and expecting me and your mama to babysit. Hell, I need some cat too.” My mouth dropped because Pops always went too far.
“Man don’t nobody wanna hear that nasty shit. If anybody gone be doing some fucking, it’s gone be me,” Nana put the icing on the cake.
“Yup, it’s time to go. Baby, you ready?”
“No, I wanna stay. Blaise is making a peach cobbler and I want some,” Ariyah whined.
“Aight, but you owe me.”
“Hey, turn that up.” Pops yelled to Nana. She turned up the TV, and it was Julio Hernandez giving an interview. He was undefeated as well, and a force in the boxing world.
“So, what are we going to see from you next after that amazing two round knock out you just had?”
“I’m going for the champ. If he’s not scared. I’m not Danger, and he knows he can’t fuck with me. Why you think he’s never looked my way? I would have been the more worthy opponent before Danger.” Pops looked at me and laughed.
“You ready, son?”
“Of course.” Smirking at him, I nodded. “Make the call.” Mila walked over to us staggering and crying. We all jumped up, including Ariyah.
“Before you all leave, I need to speak to you on another matter. I’m bereaved.” We all looked around at each other.
“Jam, what you mean you’re bereaved?”
“Mommy, can you get my sunglasses please.” I wanted to fall out laughing, but I held it in. Ariyah was still confused, but everyone else in the house knew what that meant.
“Sure Jam, but can you tell us what happened?”
“Dinky had an unfortunate. I was trying to replicate a prank I saw on YouTube, and it went wrong which resulted in her death. I need all of you to help me with the services.” How in the hell did she kill the dog? I was about to ask when Pops and Moms sprang into action.
“Okay, baby you get the box. I’ll dig a grave in the back, and any of yall know a song from All Dogs Go To Heaven?” I looked at Pops like he was crazy.
“Yeah, all yall asses are accomplices at this point.”
“Landon, shut up and write the eulogy. Can’t you see I’m grieving?” Ariyah fell out laughing hard causing me to laugh as well. I loved the fuck out of my family.
