Business As Usual
Amelia
I’m not sure how a chaotic evening turned into a passionate night of lovemaking with Bullet, but it did. It started with the kiss after omelets and snuggles, which led to us tearing off each other’s clothes, falling off the couch in the process.
When Bullet fell on the floor with me landing on top of him, I burst out laughing. Bullet joined in, then rolled me onto my back. I stopped giggling, and Bullet’s expression changed from laughter to desire. However, instead of fast and furious, he went agonizingly slow.
He played with my body, and it sang for him. Every touch was deliberate, sensual, and all-consuming. In the end, I was pleading for him to come inside me and make me whole, and when he did, we both came so hard that I swear I lost hold of all my senses.
Bullet carried me to bed, then spooned me close as I reveled in the feel of his warm breath on my neck.
Therefore, it’s very disappointing to find myself in an empty bed first thing this morning. In moments like this, I want to hide Bullet and me away from the rest of the world. That’s not realistic, and I’m sure we’d both miss our friends and families, eventually, but it seems like a nice thought.
I hear the shower running and decide I should get a move on as well if I don’t want to be late for work. After all, Crush isn’t here to fix us breakfast this morning. He took Violet away to keep her safe. It all seems so insane! Never would I think something this crazy could happen to me.
Most love stories follow the same path: boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, girl falls in love with boy, then they live happily ever after.
Mine begins with a torrential downpour, followed by a white knight showing up at my door.
That part is awesome. My kittens love him, and I’m certainly falling head over heels for him.
Bullet likes me too, or he wouldn’t have gone to the trouble of getting the money back for my car.
Then everything goes gray. Sal is dead, presumably murdered by some Irish mob hit men. The police aren’t looking hard enough for the real killers, because they’re dirty. Worst of all, Violet will be next on the list of casualties, should they find her.
“That’s a pretty severe look on your face, beautiful,” Bullet says from the doorway, his arms braced on the frame.
“I want my happily ever after,” I blurt out, then immediately regret it.
He looks at me, confused. “What?”
“Forget it,” I mumble, and shuffle out of bed. I don’t get very far before Bullet tackles me back onto the bed, hovering over me, his hand cupping my face.
“What you’re thinking is important. Tell me, baby. I’m listening.” His soothing voice is like butter melting on warm bread.
“I was just thinking that all this insanity shouldn’t be happening. Why can’t we just have a normal us? What if you blame me for going to Sal in the first place and getting you and the club mixed up in a murder?”
He smiles. He is actually smiling down at me.
“This isn’t funny.”
“No, it isn’t. But normal doesn’t come easy to the club.
The club has been through a lot: rival clubs looking for revenge, stalkers, abusive exes, fucked-up family drama, and the list goes on.
Life isn’t a fairy tale, unless we make it one.
” His thumbs gently run over the apples of my cheeks.
“Now, about Sal, baby… He got himself hooked up with some bad people. It was a moment of opportunity to try to pin it on the club. But Orion is a master with the internet, Risk has connections that reach far, and Guard is as smart as they come. We’ll come out of this stronger than ever, because that’s what Satan’s Pride brothers do. ”
“I’m in love with you,” I tell him. “I can’t bear anything happening to you.”
“I love you too,” he says without delay.
A warmth runs through me. “I love that you’re smart, sweet, protective, and beautiful, inside and out.
I love how you treat your kittens like they’re your babies.
Makes me wanna have a baby with you, just so I can see your face light up when you hold our daughter. ”
“Or son, with your amazing blue eyes.”
“Daughter, with her mother’s violet eyes that remind me of how lucky I am,” he returns.
“But before any of that can happen, we have to get up and carry on. It’s business as usual today.
We have to stick to our routine. No one can know that Violet came to us, and now that she’s tucked away, safe and sound, we can implement our plan to bring the right people to justice. ”
“What about Vance? Are you going to tell him about Violet?” I ask.
“That’s Guard’s call. But I have a gut feeling that it’s best to keep it to ourselves.
I think Violet’s story should come from Violet.
I also think it’s wrong to cut her brother out without giving him a chance to be a brother.
I think she’s regretting the decision to not give Sal the chance to be a dad.
I hope she doesn’t make the same mistake with Vance.
In the end, it’s her choice,” he says. “But for now…” He rolls away and gets to his feet.
“Business as usual,” I finish for him.
“I got breakfast. You need to hurry.” He taps his watch.
“Why is it that since I’ve met you, I’m always on the verge of being late?” No answer is required. He saunters out of the bedroom, and I watch him go, feeling happy.
