30. EVERLEE - FAMILY
EVERLEE - FAMILY
A month later…
“Holy shit, Ev. This is nice,” Beckett says, walking into the foyer, holding Will’s hand. I look down and he rolls his eyes. “Shocker. You already knew.”
“Well, I strongly suspected.” They set their bags down and continue to look around.
It’s not fully decorated or furnished yet, but that will come with time. I got rid of a lot of my stuff instead of moving it because it was older and needed to be replaced anyway.
The guys kicked me out of the house two days after they gave it to me and said they were working on a surprise.
When they let me back in a few days later, they had converted one room into our bedroom.
There was a large circular bed which filled up the entire space so we could all sleep together.
I screamed with excitement and ran and flipped on the bed.
It’s too big to sleep in when they aren’t with me, but that’s only been a few nights.
They worked on it during the day when I was at work, and at the same time, created a special shrine to my dildos. It was a joke thought up by Knox, and Jax, being the smartass he is, built it. So now there is a little cut-out in my closet with electric candles and beaded necklaces for my dildos.
“Well, as I’m sure you also suspected…” he looks at me, but doesn’t speak. “Those guys… are… my…”
“Oh my God. Just spit it out, you little Pollyanna.”
I smile. “You knew?”
“Yeah,” Will nods. “It was pretty impossible not to know. Those guys looked like they wanted to eat you for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”
“Gross. I’m standing right here.”
“I know,” Will says, patting his chest and clawing at the air.
“Just please don’t say anything to anyone,” I implore.
“Who would I tell? Mom and dad? Could you imagine? A gay and a poly.” He laughs.
The doorbell rings, and we all turn around, and I open the door.
“Betty?” I ask, shocked.
“Girl! I hope you don’t mind. I seen you updated your address in the app and I had to come see for myself what all this hubbub was about.” She looks over my shoulder. “Oh, I’m sorry.”
“Come in, Betty. This is my brother, and…” I pause, unsure how to introduce him.
“His boyfriend, Will,” Will chimes in, saving me.
“I was going to watch her panic a little longer,” Beckett adds, and I smack his chest.
“Guys. This is Betty. Share driver extraordinaire.”
“Well, if the apron fits,” she says, bouncing her hair a little. “I don’t want to stay long since I just popped over uninvited. But I bought you a little houseplant.”
“Betty. You are always welcome, and thank you so much for this. It’s my first plant and I know just where to put it.” I place it on the table by the front window.
There is another knock at the door.
“My goodness, are you always this popular?” Beckett teases.
“Not usually.”
I open the door and Lizzy and Tony are standing there.
Lizzy looks at all of us, then settles on Betty. “Betty! You sassy minx, what are you doing here?”
“Came to give Everlee a houseplant.”
“Well, this is perfect timing! We’re having an engagement party at none other than… drum roll, please.” Tony pats the door. “Bo’s!”
I already knew, but I didn’t say anything. “So exciting. When?”
“Like you don’t know.” She cuts her eyes at me, and I wink.
“In a couple of weeks. The weekend before Memorial Day. Please say you can come, Betty! I’d love to meet the man who made an honest woman out of you.”
Betty chuckles. “Honest woman may be taking it a little too far,” she says, shimmying her shoulders.
“That’s why you’re our sassy minx!”
“Meow. Call me kitty cat.”
My eyes grow wide as I look around the room for reactions. I love this woman. Absolutely fucking love this woman.
“Well, I have to go. People are waiting.”
“We’ll see you soon, okay?” I lean over and give her a hug.
“Nice meeting you,” Beckett calls after her.
Once the door closes, Lizzy turns to look at Beckett. “Come over here and give me a hug, you big ol’ gay firefighter.”
“I don’t think all of that was needed.” He smiles, lifting her into his arms.
“Who’s your handsome plus one?” she asks, even though she already knows since I told her all about them when I came back after Easter.
“This is Will.”
“His boyfriend,” I chime, pumping my eyebrows.
“Ooh la la.”
“Well, are we ready to go grab some dinner?” I ask.
“Yes,” everyone says in unison.
Unfortunately, it’s just us five tonight. The guys couldn’t get off work, but we told them we’re going to swing by Vixen’s later, so they reserved our table in VIP for us. Emmett’s bartending tonight, so it will be nice to have us all together under one roof. All the people I love.
