Epilogue
“Mom, I don’t know why Sid came into my room, but I think he pooped.”
I opened my eyes at the sound of Turquoise’s voice. I sat up in bed as she and her little brother entered my room.
Obsidian, better known as Sid, was two going on forty and loved his big sister. Turquoise loved him just as much, but sometimes he got on her nerves when he climbed into her bed with a shitty Pull-Up. We’d been potty training him, and he did pretty well except at night.
“He came into your room because he loves you.” I reached for my baby boy and snuggled his neck. “Whoa! What did you eat?” I asked him as I got out of bed.
“I love him, too, but he stinks.” Turquoise sat down in the chair in the room.
One day, she randomly started calling me Mom, and I cried for the first time.
She kept a picture of her mother, Bria, so she knew who her real mom was, but that didn’t stop her from calling me mom.
According to her, Bria was her angel mother, and I was her mother on Earth.
She was nine years old and had gotten smarter over the last couple of years.
“He won’t be for long,” I called over my shoulder as I tickled Sid’s stomach. “Let’s get you cleaned up, little man.” I turned the water on in the tub and set Sid on the toilet.
Being a mother and wife was everything I didn’t know I needed.
Every day, I got to wake up to my husband and my children.
Onyx and I had an intimate wedding the month after he found out I was pregnant.
We held it in his backyard, and it was on a perfect sunny day.
My parents and best friends were there as well as Onyx’s dad and Ms. Sharon.
Turquoise served as the flower girl, and Spencer served as the ring bearer.
It was the cutest thing watching his big ass walk down the aisle with Turquoise.
I didn’t think it was fair to have my friends in the wedding if Onyx didn’t have anyone.
He didn’t even tell anyone at work until after we’d gotten married.
When the tub was at the level I needed it to be, I got Sid undressed so he could get in.
I’d taken the week off while Onyx worked multiple shifts, so I could stay home with the kids.
Turquoise went to school, but we didn’t want to send Sid to daycare, so we cut down on our hours when we could.
Our families pitched in at times, but we tried not to burden them with our kids, no matter how much they insisted they weren’t a problem.
“Can I get a bowl of cereal?” Turquoise asked from the doorway.
“Yeah. I’m going to cook breakfast after I finish bathing your brother. Do you want to help me?”
“Yes, but I’m really hungry, so I’ll only eat a little bit of cereal for now. I’ll let Spencer out in the yard.”
She always made sure Spencer went out in the yard if one of us wasn’t available to walk him. The two of them were best friends.
Whenever she didn’t have school, Turquoise would help me cook.
It was our way of bonding with just the two of us, and it helped her learn an important life skill.
We also got our nails done together once a month.
Most of the time, she got clear polish, but occasionally, she would get a design, especially during the holidays.
I might not have been her birth mother, but she was my baby, and I loved her so much.
“Okay. We’ll be down soon.”
She turned to leave the bedroom while I finished getting Sid ready for the day.
Onyx worked an overnight shift, and I wanted to have breakfast ready by the time he got in.
We talked on the phone a couple of times during the night, and I knew it had been a busy one for them.
I wanted to provide a relaxing environment for him like he’d done for me plenty of times.
Our marriage was built on compromise, trust, and love. We never had any real arguments, just a couple of disagreements, but they were always resolved quickly. I wasn’t trying to be one of those people, but I really did have a perfect marriage.
“Let’s get you cleaned up, little man. Your daddy will be home soon,” I told Sid as I washed him up.
“Da da.” His little chubby cheeks lit up at the thought of his father.
Obsidian was truly Onyx’s mini-me. Onyx already talked about locking his hair when he turned five. He already had a head full of hair that he wouldn’t let anyone touch. Every other day, we wrestled with him to comb his hair so it didn’t get matted.
After I had him cleaned, dried, and dressed, we headed downstairs. Turquoise was on the couch watching television, with Spencer sitting next to her.
“Are you ready to cook?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
She hopped up from the couch and followed me into the kitchen. I placed Sid in his high chair with a few Cheerios to play with, then we got started on the food.
A few minutes into us cooking, the front door opened.
Excitement filled me as I waited for Onyx to enter the kitchen.
It was always the same thing whenever we spent time apart.
I would get excited counting down the minutes until we were together again.
I was down bad for that man, and he was the same about me.
“Daddy!” Turquoise dropped the potato in her hand and ran to her father.
“Hey, little lady.” Onyx bent down and kissed her cheek.
Sid’s little hands beat on the tray in front of him, and his face lit up as Onyx walked over to him. Like he always did, Onyx picked him up and loved on him for a little bit before he came to greet me.
“Hey, baby.” He kissed my cheek and whispered in my ear, “After we eat breakfast with our children, I need to eat you so I can sleep peacefully.”
I cut my eyes at him and giggled. “Good morning, Onyx. I got you.” I winked.
Onyx played with Sid as he told us about his night. Turquoise and I finished breakfast, and we all sat at the table to eat together. These were the moments I cherished the most.
After breakfast, Kayla came by and got the kids, as well as Spencer, so Onyx and I could have some alone time. I appreciated our family and friends so much because they always made sure Onyx and I had time to ourselves.
The minute they left the house, Onyx and I took a shower together, then he did what he said.
That man ate my pussy off the bone, then fucked me to sleep.
It had been a few days since we had any real intimacy since he worked so much, but he made up for it.
We had a very healthy sex life, but sometimes, our schedules and having a toddler made it hard.
Once we woke up, we turned the television on and stayed in bed.
“What do you think about going to Disney World?” Onyx asked as his hands roamed over my butt.
“I think that’s a good idea. Should we wait until Sid gets a little older though?” I asked as I looked into his eyes.
The thought of going to crowded places no longer scared me.
I knew nothing would happen to me with Spencer or Onyx around.
I got the proper paperwork for Spencer, so he was officially my emotional support dog.
I’d gone back to therapy because I didn’t want to spend my life avoiding places and not giving my kids opportunities to do things that required me to go to crowded places.
“I think now is a good time. We can always go back in a couple of years. I’m trying to go before I put another baby in you.”
“Who said I was having another one?”
Onyx shifted and sat up a little to look down at me.
“So you don’t want any more of my babies, Miss Maverick?”
The shift in his tone and the lust that filled his eyes made my pussy thump and heat fill my body.
“I’ll give you all of the babies you want.”
A grin split his handsome face before he kissed me. I didn’t have a problem having more kids with Onyx, and I was sure it was only a matter of time before we had another one.
The day my house caught on fire was the worst and best day of my life.
I worried so much about rebuilding, but I met the love of my life in the process.
I had a man who adored me and loved me like no man has ever loved me.
I also had two beautiful children that I truly adored. I couldn’t ask for anything more.
