Chapter 4

BUTCH

Raelynn shook her head, and it took everything in him not to demand that she tell him everything. Butch had so many questions he wanted to ask, but he knew in the state she was in; he needed to be careful. He didn’t want to send her into panic mode and have her shut down even more.

No.

He’d just found her again, and he wasn’t going to let her go.

“Do you have any idea who could have done this?” Doc asked as he held her in his arms.

She hadn’t answered the question, just shook her head, and even more tears ran down her face. Was she just doing that even if she didn’t know what the question was? It broke his heart, and he didn’t end up pushing her to answer it but held on tightly, attempting to calm her down.

What was going on through her head? He wanted to ask, but they hadn’t seen each other for eight years.

He had no doubt things had changed between them.

Butch was determined to get her back, though.

He was determined to get back to what their relationship was like in high school, trusting each other and telling each other every little detail.

He didn’t care that she was partially deaf. They were going to figure everything out together and be together once again… no matter how long or what it took. Butch was going to make sure it happened.

“I don’t, but I’m going to make them pay for everything they’ve done,” he calmly said. “They are not going to get away with this. No matter how long it takes me to find them, I’m going to make them suffer like they made her suffer.”

Butch looked down at Rae. The tears had stopped, and he figured she was on the verge of falling asleep. From the dark circles under her eyes, her pale skin, and skinny body, he knew she hadn’t been taking care of herself.

Wasn’t taking care of herself, or couldn’t?

The questions piled up inside him the more he thought about what she had been doing since the last time he saw her over eight years ago.

“How are you going to find that information out when she won’t tell you?” Doc asked.

Sighing, he looked down at Rae once again, trailing his knuckle across her exposed cheek. Even in her sleep now, she was nuzzling into his chest, gripping onto his shirt for dear life.

But this time, he wasn’t going to leave. There was no way he would let her out of his sight now… not when he had just found her again.

He was going to make sure that she stayed right by his side no matter what. He was going to prove that she belonged to him, and there was no way out of it.

There was no escaping their destiny.

“I’m going to have Ace look into what happened to her after I left to join the club.

He’s going to find out all the information he can, and we’re going to go from there,” he replied.

“And I hope that, in the meantime, I’m going to get her to be comfortable again with me, and then she’ll be telling me his name. ”

That was his hope, but he wasn’t going to push her to tell him. He wanted to rebuild trust between them. The trust he knew he broke when he told her he was joining the Springfield Sinners and had to leave her behind until she graduated from high school.

“Doc,” he called as he looked up. “Can you look into the hearing aids she can get? I don’t care about the cost. I’ll also be adding her to my insurance, so I’ll need Ace or Reaper to forge some documents so it looks like we’re married. The sooner the better. I want to get her whatever she needs.”

“We don’t know the extent of her hearing loss, so we don’t know what she can or can’t have,” Doc explained. “But I’ll contact a friend of mine to see if he can do an assessment on her.”

“Thank you,” Butch replied. “I would also appreciate if this was all kept on the down low.”

Doc’s head tipped back as he laughed. “Good luck with that. She walked into the clubhouse and asked for you by name, all bruised and looking terrified. Everyone knows she means something to you by the way you carried her through the clubhouse and into your room, barking at me to come and check her over. There’s no way of hiding this, so I wouldn’t try. ”

Sighing, Butch hung his head for a second. He hadn’t been in his right mind when he saw her turn around in the middle of the sidewalk. He thought he had been seeing things, but then he saw her eyes roll to the back of her head, and he knew she was real.

Everything went out the window when he realized that Rae, his Little Fairy, was back in his arms after eight years.

Eight long years of not having her by his side.

“Then make sure they don’t tell anyone else about it.

I don’t want it getting out, and the man who is after her to find her.

She kept talking about needing to leave before he found out where she was.

She is terrified of him. I don’t need him finding her before I can find him,” Butch said.

“Make it clear that they are not to talk about it.”

“I’ll have Deccan tell them. Are you sure you want to do this?” Doc asked. “You said it’s been eight years since you’ve seen her. Everyone in the club knows you left behind the love of your life and went back to her, but came back empty-handed.”

Butch growled. “You don’t need to remind me.”

“Are you sure you want to get into this? We don’t know who is after her and how dangerous he is,” Doc pointed out. “Are you sure you want to start a battle you know nothing about?”

His grip tightened around Rae as he looked at Doc in the eyes. “Yes, I’m fucking sure. She is my world. I know I haven’t seen her in years, but I’m still in love with her. I will do anything to help her, to save her, and make her mine again.”

Doc raised his hands. “All right, sorry for asking.”

“I want to talk to Deccan,” Butch demanded.

“I’ll get him. Let me know if you need anything. Next time she wakes up, we need to get some food and liquids into her,” Doc explained before he walked out of the room.

Butch ran his hands through her hair, getting it out of her face.

“Everything is going to be okay,” he whispered. “Daddy is here to take care of you now. No one is ever going to hurt you again. Not on my watch.”

He didn’t know how long he was staring at her before Deccan came into the room.

“Doc said you wanted to talk to me?” Deccan sat in the furthest chair from them. “How is she doing?”

Butch looked up from Rae as she slept in his arms. His pride was swelling up at the fact that she was still comfortable enough to sleep in his arms.

“She’s asleep now. We tried to get information out of her, but she still insists on leaving,” Butch said.

“And you’re going to let her?” Deccan raised an eyebrow.

“Over my dead body,” he growled.

Deccan chuckled. “Figured. You’ve finally found her.”

“And I’m never letting her go,” he declared. “But we do need to talk.”

“Doc said you want the guys not to talk about her being here, but he didn’t say anything else. Is there something you want to discuss with me before I tell the guys?” Deccan asked.

“Someone is after her, but we don’t know who or how powerful they are.

I know you don’t like it when people bring trouble to the club, but I will take full responsibility for anything that happens.

If you don’t want her to stay, then I guess I will have to leave the Springfield Sinners.

I’m not letting her leave, and I’m not going to allow this person to torment her life any longer,” Butch declared.

He didn’t want to leave the Springfield Sinners.

Not when they had been his family for the past eight years.

But if he had to pick between Rae, his Little Fairy, and the club, he was going to pick her.

He’d had to leave her eight years ago with the promise of getting her back, but he wasn’t going to do it again.

“You don’t have to leave her or the club,” Deccan said. “I don’t want the guys bringing trouble to our door, but we help the innocent, you know that. We will never turn someone away who’s in trouble and needs our help.”

The tension eased from Butch’s shoulders, and he found himself loosening his grip around Rae.

If Deccan had put him in a tough spot, he would always pick Rae over the club.

No matter how much it hurt him to leave his family behind.

Rae was his first family, and he had let her go all those years ago, promising to come back.

He wasn’t going to let that happen again.

“We just need to find out who this guy is and deal with it before he comes for her,” Deccan said.

“I’m going to have Ace and Reaper look into it and forge some documents. I’ll be putting her on my insurance as my wife so that she can get the medical attention she needs, but also so we can figure out what kind of hearing device she needs,” Butch explained.

He looked down at her and softly trailed his knuckle across her cheek.

Butch used to love lying in bed with her and staring at her as she slept so peacefully in his arms. It was one of the things he loved to do the most to pass the time.

Stare at her for hours and hours, memorizing every little detail about her.

He didn’t realize how much he missed that until now.

“Hearing device?” Deccan asked.

“That bastard made her deaf in her right ear and damaged her left one,” he growled out. “I have no doubt he’s also the one who gave her all these bruises. I can guarantee you that if we were to pull her shirt up, she would have scars.”

Just thinking about what the man did to his Little Fairy made him livid. Who would dare to touch her? His woman. His Little. His significant other.

“We’ll find him—”

“When we do, I want to torture him. I want to make sure that he feels everything she felt and more. I want him to suffer,” Butch interrupted him.

Deccan nodded. “I can do that. But you’ll need to keep him alive so we can get information out of him.”

Butch ran his hand up and down her back, trying to calm himself down. He needed to be calm for her.

“Who is she to you?” Deccan asked.

“Legally, she’s my stepsister,” Butch replied.
