Chapter 40
SOPHIE
Two weeks passed in the blink of an eye.
Before I knew it, it was the night before Daniel’s and my wedding and my nerves were about to get the better of me.
Not because of the ceremony Saturday afternoon, but the plans Daniel and I had for Finn later that night.
Since it was Friday, he had dinner plans with his brothers and would be done sometime after eight, so Daniel and I made ourselves comfortable in Finn’s living room while we waited for him.
When he walked in his front door, Finn was a little more buzzed than normal, but offered no argument when I wrapped his tie around my fist and walked him toward his bedroom. Finn’s nostrils flared and he leaned in to chase after me, stealing a kiss before we reached the hallway.
“Patience,” I teased, leading him straight to Daniel.
Privately, we’d spent the most time debating what to wear.
The feelings we wanted to talk about were very real and very serious, as important as the ones Daniel and I would exchange vows over the following day, but getting dressed up for something private felt far from necessary.
In the end, we’d both changed into something comfortable; Daniel, a worn pair of jeans and a plain white undershirt, no socks, and I’d opted for a pair of linen pants with a black tank top, no bra.
Finn was the most overdressed of us, a problem I remedied before we reached his bedroom.
I stripped Finn out of his tie and his belt, his work shoes and his fancy socks.
He was barefoot and hungry when we reached the bedroom, stumbling over his feet when he saw the velvet box in the middle of his bed.
“What’s this?”
Daniel patted a spot beside him on the bed and Finn went to him, sitting down and fidgeting his hands together in his lap.
“There’s something we wanted to do tonight,” I explained, joining them and sliding the box closer to Finn. “I’m sorry we kept it from you, but we wanted it to be a surprise.”
“We wanted it to be special,” Daniel said.
“Okay,” Finn murmured, glancing nervously toward the box.
“I don’t think I would have handled this relationship as well as you have,” I explained, taking Finn’s hand and kissing the tops of his knuckles. “I want you to know I see it and I’m thankful for it every day.”
His eyes searched my face, glassy but alert.
“Even though Daniel and I are getting legally married tomorrow, neither of us want you to think that will change anything between us.”
“I don’t,” he said softly.
“Finn,” Daniel chided, and Finn rolled his eyes, sighing heavily.
“I’m trying to not,” he corrected.
“Sophie has been agonizing over her something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue,” Daniel said. “It was important for her that everything be just so.”
“Of course,” Finn agreed.
I smoothed my hand over the front of my chest, a delicate gold necklace that had been passed down from my grandmother rested over the top of my collarbone, a small diamond pendant hanging in the middle.
“This is old,” I explained.
Daniel fingered the ring box, flipping the lid open and holding it out for Finn to examine. He’d asked me earlier if he should get on one knee and I’d told him to do whatever felt right in the moment. The three of us together on the same level definitely felt right to me.
“This is new.” Daniel took the ring out of the box and handed it to me. I tapped it against the top of Finn’s left ring finger.
“If you want it,” I said quickly.
“I want it,” he answered.
The band we’d picked for him was simple, a combination of mine and Daniel’s, meant to demonstrate the fact he was the glue between the two of us, something vital that held us together and kept us whole.
Daniel told him as much while I slid the band onto Finn’s finger.
It fit as perfectly as I’d known it would.
Finn swallowed hard and studied the shape of it without saying another word.
“Borrowed felt a little flimsy, but Marshall pulled some strings to get us a one-day property rental for a little post-ceremony reception tomorrow, so I think it counts,” I continued.
Finn blinked hard and bit the inside of his cheek. “And the blue?”
Daniel pulled a blue envelope out of the nightstand and set it on Finn’s lap. He opened it with long and shaking fingers, tearing the paper and pulling out the carefully folded itinerary for the honeymoon.
For our honeymoon.
“What’s this?”
“This is me hoping it’s not too late for you to take next week off work,” I said with a shy smile. “Because it wouldn’t be a honeymoon without you.”
Finn rubbed his thumb across the paper, clearing his throat.
“Where is Cherry Creek?” he asked.
“In the mountains. A place with good views and no cell phone service.”
Finn sniffed and folded the paper back on itself, returned it to the envelope.
“Marshall maybe also has already suggested to your boss you might be taking next week off, so it wouldn’t be out of nowhere if you said yes.”
“I’m sorry.” Finn smoothed the seal on the envelope, shaking his head. “I’m not sure where to start.”
“Wherever you want.”
I hoped this had been the right decision. I looked at Daniel, who was focused on Finn like if he blinked too long, Finn would disappear.
“It…it means a lot to me that you’re close enough now with my brothers to do that,” he said slowly. “Though I’m not surprised Marshall was eager and willing to meddle.”
I huffed out a laugh under my breath.
“When I found out the two of you were engaged, this isn’t what I expected.”
“You tried to blow me off,” I reminded him.
Finn nodded, cradling my face in his hand and stroking his thumb across my cheek. I grabbed his wrist and kept his fingers pressed against my skin, the cool metal of the band on his finger quickly warming.
“I wake up glad every day you didn’t take no for an answer.”
“She loves you so much,” Daniel said, running his fingers through Finn’s hair with enough intention it drew his focus away from me. “I love you so much.”
“I love you both.” His voice cracked and we all ignored it.
“Is the ring okay?”
“More than,” Finn said.
“It means as much to us as hers does,” he explained. “As much as mine will. Your name is going to be on that certificate tomorrow, right below ours.”
“Then you’ll come to Colorado with us,” I said, hopeful. “Spend a week in a hotel room with a hot tub, cell phones off, Wi-Fi ignored.”
Finn opened his mouth to answer, but no sound came out. Before he could tell me no or offer some other protest, I grabbed his hand, raised his palm to my face and kissed the place the ring met his skin. Finn’s lashes fluttered and I took a little bit more of his finger into my mouth.
I changed the subject, smiling against the webbing of his fingers. “I cannot wait for tomorrow, but I’ve been looking forward to tonight for weeks.”
Finn managed a weak laugh. “What else can you possibly have planned, Sophie? You’ve already stripped me down to nothing.”
There was a violent kind of honesty in Finn’s confession, and I believed it more than I’d believed anything he’d said before.
He was a force of nature, coming through and upending everything around him.
A year ago, I’d been planning to move from Portland to LA, ready to start a new chapter of my life with Daniel.
Even with our relationship being open, I’d never expected someone like Finn to come into our lives.
Neither of us had planned to open our marriage, only our bed.
But then there was Finn.
And he wasn’t the only one stripped bare.
“Well, first you can take your clothes off.”
He studied me, undoing one button of his white dress shirt at a time until it was spread open entirely.
He tugged the tails out from his pants and tossed his shirt on the floor.
His slacks were next, then his underwear, and Finn was naked figuratively and otherwise.
We all knew it, and he stroked his cock from root to tip with a lazy, overhanded flick of his wrist. He tried too hard to always play it cool, but it was so easy to take him apart.
He wanted to be taken apart, wanted to trust someone enough to put him back together, and I would never not be grateful that he found that trust in me and Daniel.
“Now what?” he asked.
“Now I think I have to confess a secret to the both of you.”
Daniel’s eyes went wide and he aimed a sharp look at me. I gestured to the bed and Finn sat down, lay down. I stood, taking off my tank top and my pants, revealing nothing underneath.
“I’ve been practicing,” I admitted, climbing back onto the bed, straddling Finn and dragging my cunt up the length of his thickening erection.
Daniel tugged his shirt off and tossed it onto the pile of clothes, his eyes focused on my tits as he fumbled out of his pants.
“For what?”
“Taking two cocks at the same time.”
Finn threw his head back and groaned, scrubbing a hand down his face.
“I practiced in the shower, stretching and fucking myself until it felt good to have two toys inside of me at the same time.”
“Sophie,” Daniel whispered my name and then cursed under his breath. “I would have helped.”
“You can help me now.” I slid up until the tip of Finn’s cock teased my entrance, and I sank down and took him fully. I was beyond horny for the both of them, wet and warm against my thighs. Finn grabbed my hips and steadied me, his eyes still screwed shut.
My practice had obviously not been perfect, but I pressed my breasts against Finn’s chest and kissed the side of his neck.
“This is for the two of you too,” I told him. “I want you to share this.”
“I think this is heaven,” he murmured, petting his fingers through my hair.
