Chapter 10 #2

Fueled by determination and adrenaline, I quickly climb to my feet, almost close enough to make out the truck’s plates. I take another step and—

Splat. A snowball explodes against my back, sending me flying face first into the snowdrift.

Did she just…? My mouth opens in disbelief. When I look up, Kez is laughing, a maniacal expression on her face, seemingly proud of her direct strike.

My cozy outfit is ruined. Snow is everywhere: stuck to my legs, down my nice cream sweater, and hanging on every strand of my hair. I spit the snowflakes out and grab two fistfuls to return the favor. The truck can wait.

I clench my teeth and stand. “You’re going to get it now.”

I face her and run—as fast as one can in these conditions—toward the officer already in a high-knee sprint in my direction. I launch both snowballs. One strikes her shoulder. The other is nowhere close.

“Charlotte Harrington!” she yells, then smiles. She dodges another snowball. “Give me the phone.”

“Screw you.” I chuckle, ignoring the patches of melting snow stuck to my clothes, weighing me down. Oh, I’ll give her something—another packed snowball ready in the chamber. I lift my arm, all thoughts of dialing the tow company abandoned.

We collide mid-throw, hitting the ground, our limbs tangling together, as we dissolve into breathless laughter. I twist free, attempting to crawl to my feet, but she grabs my hips and yanks me back down. She shoves more snow into my face. I return the favor. Our laughter echoes in the air.

My heart’s pounding through my chest. I somehow pin the woman in uniform between my legs—quite the victory, indeed. We stop wrestling for a moment, both breathing hard. We stare at each other.

“Feels good to be on top,” I say, struggling to catch my breath. This is the most exercise I’ve done in years. “You wouldn’t know what that’s like.”

She writhes between my thighs, but I squeeze tighter, making it more difficult to squirm beneath me. I’m thoroughly enjoying seeing her like this, officially soaked in more ways than one.

“Bite me,” she growls through clenched teeth and stops moving, as if finally realizing there’s no point in trying to escape.

We pause. I peer into her dark, mesmerizing eyes, appreciating how gorgeous she is, even with her hair full of snow. Given our first night at the cabin, it’s hard to believe that we’re currently rolling around, play fighting outside like a couple of idiots.

I lean forward, hands braced on each side of her head. Our breath mingles, visible in the cold air. The desire to kiss her overwhelms me.

She tilts her head. We inch closer. I dip down until our lips almost touch.

She closes her eyes, going for a kiss.

I chomp down on her shoulder.

“Ouch!” she yelps, hips bucking hard enough I fly off her like riding a bull. “What the hell did you do that for?”

“You told me to bite you. So I did.” I can’t help giggling as she glares at me, knowing she’ll probably return the favor twice as hard, and I’ll love every second.

She climbs on top of me and pins my wrists down. Her firm weight helps me ignore the fact that I’m nearly naked, surrounded by snow.

Her outrage melts in seconds, replaced with something far more tempting. “You’re gonna regret that,” she says, breathless with a smile. “I like this position much better.”

I drink her in, fully engulfed by the intoxicating look in her brown eyes.

A heatwave flashes through my entire body.

Without another word, I grab a fistful of her shirt and yank until our lips crash together, moaning from the heat of her tongue parting my lips.

She deepens the kiss, our tongues dancing together.

Urgency to be fucked hard and fast overwhelms me. Now is not the time for pleasantries.

My body never forgot her touch. As she trails a hand up my shirt, I gasp at the remnants of snow melting on my scorching skin. She kneads my left breast, her ice-cold fingers gently pinching my nipple while she traps my moans with her mouth.

“I want your fingers inside me,” I breathe between kisses. “Now.”

I’m so wet, I know I won’t last long. She pushes my panties to the side and doesn’t hold back, delving two fingers in with ease and begins fucking me with slow, determined strokes, then doubles in speed.

She doesn’t hesitate to give me what I want—she never did in the pleasure department. It’s something I’ve always loved about her, never hesitating to fuck me, to make me hers, make me beg for more.

“I’m coming,” I pant, her fingers curling just right against the sponge inside.

My legs shake, and I tense. She bites my neck, sinking her teeth into my sensitive skin, the shock of pleasure and pain jolts down my spine, enough to launch me over the edge.

My back arches as I come hard, almost embarrassing fast, my orgasm rips through me, leaving me trembling.

Panting, I collapse back on the snow, chest heaving up and down, cold air biting at my skin.

She withdraws her fingers, and without the weight of her body on mine, the winter air rushes in, stealing what little warmth I have left. She hovers over me and slowly brushes our lips together. “I can’t believe we just did that.”

“Me neither.” Breathing finally steady, I huff, “You and that damn uniform.”

We burst into laughter, breath visible in the winter air. She stands first, then I take her hand, and she pulls me to my feet. She brushes snow off my body with a gentleness that contradicts every filthy thing she just did to me.

She looks at me. “I’m sorry for what I said about your boudoir business,” she says. “For treating you like a guest. Will you accept a humble mug of homemade hot cocoa by the fire as a proper apology?”

“That’s a good start. I think I’m about two minutes from frostbite.” I shiver. “Hot chocolate sounds incredible. Maybe a warm bath.”

“Definitely a bath.” She attempts to smile through chattering teeth. “Coming right up.”

“Yes, please. Let’s hurry. I think my ass is frozen,” I tell her only half-joking, and I kiss her again.

Taking three steps, it’s like I can’t feel my legs.

I don’t know if it’s from the cold or her fingers, but I’m eager to get back inside and continue what we started, somewhere plenty warm so we can take our time.

I wrap my jacket tighter around my chest as we walk back toward the cabin.

“Were you really going to report my truck to the tow company?” she asks as I intertwine our arms, desperate for all the warmth I can get because the adrenaline has worn off and I’m shivering uncontrollably.

I give her a look.

“Never mind.” She smiles and pecks my lips. “Don’t answer that.”

Ahead of us, the root that sent me flying juts out from the snow-covered path. I squeeze Kez’s hand and nod toward it. “Watch out for that.”

She huffs a laugh and shakes her head. “Thanks.”

This time, hand in hand, we step over it together.
