CHAPTER EIGHT
NICOLAI
My mother gave me this little gem when I turned twenty-one.
It was run down and in desperate need of serious renovation.
I spent the first few years fixing it up and finished it a few years ago.
It kept me sane and out of trouble, for the most part.
Now, I get to share it with my wife. It might be the biggest mistake I’ve ever made, trusting her when our marriage is so new.
But watching her fall in love with this cabin, just as I did, is worth it.
Many of my colleagues think I’m a heartless bastard, but I do have my weak moments.
She’s distracted, and I know the reason why. I should say something before she does. But I’m too damn slow.
“Bria said I was supposed to be yours,” she says. “Was she right?”
“She’s a hopeless romantic,” I say. “Always has been. Whatever she heard, it was probably taken out of context. Maybe someone made a joke in passing, and Bria tends to believe everything she hears.”
Luna brushes it off, but I know better. She’s filing it away for later as she walks around, touching everything.
Proving it’s real and not her imagination.
It’s small by regular standards, but it’s a perfect getaway for me when I want to be alone.
And the tunnel makes it safe from prying eyes and my many enemies.
I can’t help smiling when she stops in the hallway.
There are only two doors for her to choose from.
One leads to my bedroom, the other to the bathroom.
Clearly, she doesn’t know which one to choose.
Closing the distance, I guide her to the left and open the door.
My king-size bed consumes the space and leaves little room for anything else.
She walks in on her own and runs her hand over the sleek mahogany wood.
It’s cold and dark in here, but it’s just the way I like it.
“I’m shocked that something so beautiful could be hidden beneath the earth. And yet, I spotted the lake with my own two eyes. How’s that possible?”
“The cabin’s hidden inside a hill, and the only visible part from the outside is the deck. The only drawback is that we can only go out there once the sun sets. But swimming at night is freeing. It’s one of my favorite things to do.”
“But I don’t understand how you found this. There are so many tunnels and turns, it seems impossible to stumble on something like this.”
“This estate belonged to the Lombardi’s, my mother’s family. My mother gave it to me on one of my birthdays. Only the three of us know it exists. Anyone else who knew of its existence is long gone. So, it’s just you and me, where no one can find us.”
“It’s beautiful, thank you for showing it to me.”
“You’re welcome. This place means more than you know.”
I had an ulterior motive for taking her here today.
She doesn’t know it yet, but soon she’ll be initiated into the Mafia.
Something my brother never bothered with.
He evaded tradition and ducked responsibility.
I won’t. Either she’s all in, or she dies.
It’s also why I didn’t take her last night.
Yes, I was exhausted, but I could’ve claimed what was mine.
Instead, I jerked off to the thought of her deep throating my cock.
“I’ve decided that it’s time for your initiation into the famiglia. Stop scowling, Luna. There’s nothing to worry about as long as you cooperate.”
“What kind of initiation do you have in mind, because I’ve heard a few horror stories?” See, this right here is what I mentioned before. Yes, Luna is my wife, but she needs to respect me and not question my authority.
“Well, why don’t we just get started so you don’t spend your whole day worrying about something that’s out of your control?” I pull out the knife that’s been hidden in my pants pocket. The second she sees it, she runs.
My hand fists in her hair, and the blade is at her throat before she reaches the front door.
“Yesterday, I saved your life because you are my wife. It didn’t matter whether we had been married for years or minutes.
It’s my job to protect you. But I can slit your throat here and dispose of your body in the lake.
No one would dare question me as to your whereabouts. So, it’s your choice, Moglie.” Wife.
“It depends on what you’re going to do to me. I’ll gladly accept death before I let you abuse me like your brother did.” She struggles to break free of my hold, but by doing so, the blade nicks her delicate throat.
“Now, see what you’ve done. You cut yourself.
” I quickly flick the blade back inside and spin her around.
My tongue lapping up the blood that’s already escaped.
“Delicious and mine. Now give me your hand. I won’t ask again.
” She has no choice since my hold on her is unbreakable.
She has nowhere to run, so with a huff, she reaches out a shaky fist and closes her eyes.
Opening her palm, I use the tip of my knife to make a small cut, and then do the same to mine.
I grab her hand, mine over hers, like an upside-down handshake of sorts.
“Repeat after me: 'We share the same name and now the same blood runs through our veins.” It’s barely above a whisper, but I’ll accept it.
“We’re one in body, mind, and soul. Our bond will last long after our death. ”
“I’ve never heard of such a stupid thing,” she laughs nervously. “Did you just make that up?” Oh, her mouth is going to be put to excellent use in a short while.
“Other families might have their version; this one belongs to the Caputos. I’d think twice about making fun of our traditions.” She squirms, but it’s clear she has nowhere to go. She’d get lost inside these tunnels, and even I’d have a difficult time finding her.
“Are we done, because I’d like to wash my hands now?
” Since our hands are still connected, I interlock her fingers with mine and lead her to the bathroom.
Once inside, I flip on the switch, and I’m confused by her reflection in the mirror.
I thought for sure she’d be furious or frightened, but that look is anything but.
I’m taken aback, even more so when she grabs my hand and swipes the blood with the flat of her tongue. Instantly, my cock stirs.
“Well, are you just going to stand there, or are we going to fuck?”
