Yayo
Six months later and one thing about me...
I’m still getting money. Matter fact, I’m getting more money than ever before.
Me, King, Rook, and Bishop done turned this shit into something different.
Between the four of us, Vegas been looking like a damn snow globe.
The Vaelorians don’t play about business, and neither do I.
Them niggas built different...the kind of family that’ll have you questioning everything you thought you knew about loyalty.
Don’t worry, though.
You’ll meet them soon enough. They got a story all their own, and trust me...it’s one worth reading.
Outside of that, my investments been paying me while I sleep.
Buildings I bought done doubled in value, checks keep clearing, and for the first time in my life, I ain’t putting every dollar back into the streets.
Don’t get it twisted—I ain’t completely out the game yet either—but I finally understand why Kade kept telling me to own shit instead of just controlling it. Nigga might’ve been onto something.
Life with my sister been different too. Crazy how one conversation in a little diner changed everything between us.
These days, I talk to Ysis damn near every day.
We argue. We laugh. She get on my nerves.
I get on hers. Normal brother and sister shit we should’ve had years ago if life hadn’t robbed us both.
Watching her become the woman she was always supposed to be and seeing them chunky little twins smile every time I walk through the door...
I ain’t gone lie. Being Uncle Yayo kinda hard.
The only relationship that still ain’t found its footing is the one with our mama. Maybe one day. Maybe not. I done made peace with the fact that forgiveness don’t move on my timeline.
Outside of that, life would’ve been damn near perfect if Kayla wasn’t so damn hardheaded.
That girl done rejected vacations, jewelry, flowers, apology gifts, buildings, and enough money to make most folks lose they mind.
Every time I think I’m finally making progress, she look at me with that little smile, kiss me on my cheek, and send my ass right back out the door.
Her answer still ain’t changed. Every time I try to convince her we can figure it out together, she hit me with the same damn line.
“Isaiah...when you done with the streets, come find me.” The fucked-up part is...
she mean every word. Kayla ain’t asking me to prove I love her because she already know I do.
She asking me to love myself enough to walk away from the only life I ever knew, and that’s a different type of pressure.
I done stared death in the face more times than I can count, buried friends, made enemies, survived shit most niggas wouldn’t, yet somehow one woman got me sitting up at night questioning every decision I’ve ever made.
Funny how life work. Maybe Kade was right all along.
Maybe every war ain’t won with bullets, and maybe the hardest fight a man will ever have is proving to the woman he loves that he’s finally become the man she deserves. Guess we’ll see.
Because some loves don’t die...they evolve.
