Chapter Thirty-Eight
Link
THE LAST THREE weeks have been a blur. One day blends into the next one and I barely have time to think.
Annistyn has been busy getting her photography business off the ground.
I’m so proud of her because she’s putting in all the work and has already booked more than a few jobs.
Roger has been at her side every step of the way and helped her only when she’s lost. He lets her do everything on her own until she asks him for help.
After an event, he’ll go over suggestions with her so she knows for the next time.
I’ve never seen her happier than she is right now.
When I’m not working, I’ve been looking at houses close to the compound and talking to my mom every single day about her moving here.
She’s really getting excited about being closer to us and starting a new chapter of her life.
Sam isn’t happy, but she understands why my mom is ready to move.
So, I’ve hardly been at the compound unless there’s church or some other club business.
Playboy, Sam, Shy, and Slim have been helping my mom pack up her house and go through everything.
She’s donating a lot, especially all of her big furniture.
Annistyn and I have already bought her brand-new stuff to furnish the house I just closed on.
It will be delivered tomorrow. After talking to my mom about everything, we’ve decided to keep the house instead of selling it.
I don’t need the money and when we go to Benton Falls for a visit, we’ll have a place to stay away from the clubhouse.
Mom thinks it would be good to keep in the family for any kids we have as well.
It will give them somewhere to stay if they need to get away or move that way for college.
I personally think my mom doesn’t want to get rid of the first house I bought her for sentimental reasons.
Either way, it doesn’t matter to me. In a few days, a moving company will show up and load all of my mom’s boxes to bring here.
Sam and Playboy are going to drive her so she’s not alone for the trip.
That was the main thing I was worried about when this all started.
Something is going on with my ol’ lady. She’s taking naps during the day when she doesn’t have an event and I’ve heard her getting sick more than a few times before heading out for the day.
Annistyn doesn’t appear to be sick with the flu or anything like that, and I’m getting worried about her.
Cali and I have talked about it and she’s not too concerned with the situation.
Doc isn’t either when I talked to him. He simply said something about her body adjusting to eating more and there being a period of time this may happen.
Annistyn has definitely been eating more lately so I’m just going to keep an eye on her for now.
If something doesn’t change soon, I’m going to take her to the hospital for a thorough check-up.
This can’t continue happening with everything she’s been through and the eating disorder.
We’ve been having church almost daily because of the men still after my girl.
Master has finally gotten all of their names and locations.
Some of them are actually in town searching for Annistyn.
We’ve put protection on her and she’s just going with it.
The Prospects know what’s at stake and she also has a full patch member with her when she leaves.
So far it hasn’t posed any problems with her events.
If it does, we’ll have to figure something else out.
At this point, there’s been two attempts to kidnap her she doesn’t know about.
The guys were able to get the fucker and they’re waiting in cells in the basement of the clubhouse.
Today, we’ve got all the businesses closed because we’re about to deal with the assholes after Annistyn.
The entire club will be involved and this time we’re not calling the cops in to take them into custody.
Playboy, Slim, Tank, and several others offered to come to Glendale to help us take care of the fuckers.
I declined everyone but Tank. He really likes Annistyn and I know the Wild Kings haven’t really had anything going on.
Part of me knows he wants to check on my girl with his own eyes and make sure she’s happy here.
Yes, he’s threatened me even after she returned about taking her with him to Clifton Falls.
“You ready for this shit?” Caleb asks, walking up and joining me at the table in the common room.
“Been ready for this shit to end. I’m tired of Annistyn havin’ nightmares and constantly lookin’ over her shoulder,” I answer my best friend as he accepts the bottle of water from Laurie.
This is actually her last day here. She got accepted to college and wants to finish her degree. We’re all proud of her.
“Where’s Annistyn today?” Caleb asks me as more men join us in the common room while we wait for Tank to get here.
“She’s at the ranch. Roger made up some bullshit excuse to get her there.
I’ve got two Prospects, Chaos, and Demon there with her.
“I know he plans on takin’ her shootin’.
My girl is quick as fuck with a gun and she can shoot almost anythin’.
We’ve been to the range twice and she’s ready to go back again.
Wants more guys from the club to join us.
Annistyn wants to test her skills against us since most of us were in the military,” I inform him as I hear the rumble of a bike outside and my entire body tenses.
Master came up with a great plan to lure in the assholes after my girl.
Since he found the email address of her uncle, we decided to send an email to each of them with a location, date, and time to pick her up.
They’re already given her aunt and uncle the money for her so there’s no way they won’t show up.
At least that’s our hope. We’ll bring the twatwaffles in the basement with us and deal with them all at one time.
Thankfully, they all know her uncle is a piece of shit and we chose an abandoned warehouse out of town that won’t call attention to what we’re doing.
From the responses Master requested, everyone will be there.
We’ll just be there first so we can grab each monster as they enter.
Viper brought up a good point and we staggered the times so none of them see each other arrive.
We’re not going to lose a single bastard over some bullshit reason.
Tank enters the clubhouse a minute after I hear the bike shut off. He doesn’t talk or look at anyone other than me. Though I don’t miss his eyes darting around in search of someone. He’s looking for Annistyn.
“She’s not here. Roger has her until we’re done,” I say as soon as he stops at the table.
“Good. She doesn’t need to be anywhere near this shit. She already did the only confrontation she needed to. Is she doin’ any better?” Tank questions me as Caleb leaves us and I watch him gather everyone to make sure they’re ready to head out.
“The nightmares are still there but not every night like they were. It’s part of her process and Debbie is happy with the progress she’s made since that day.
She’s eatin’ more now, sleepin’ more often, and her business seems to be doin’ really good.
I’ve met her family on Roger’s side and they’re great people.
They love her and are plannin’ to take her on a few short trips and just spend time with her.
She’s so happy with them and I wish it’s what she had the entire time after she lost her parents,” I answer him and already know his next question.
“What about those two fuckers who thought it was okay to torment her?”
“They’ve just been sentenced. Neither one of them will ever see freedom again.
Thankfully Annistyn didn’t have to testify.
Both of them took a plea deal to escape trial and have their dirty laundry aired publicly.
Not that everyone in town doesn’t know what they’ve done.
Annistyn and I are going to sell the farm.
She doesn’t want the house and all of the horrible memories there.
It was her decision and Debbie believes it’s the best course of action for her.
Roger might actually buy the place, tear down all of the buildings, and set up another ranch one of his sisters will take over when she’s finished her degree.
Everyone in the family is prepared to step up and help if that’s what happens,” I tell him as he starts smiling in response.
“That’s what Annistyn is gonna make happen.
That girl loves helpin’ everyone around her and will want Roger to open another ranch.
We’ll come down and help with anythin’ they need.
I know the triplets will be down to help them too.
They love Annistyn and call her once a week to check in,” Tank says as Caleb looks in our direction. It’s time to go.
“Let’s head the fuck out and deal with this shit. Annistyn deserves a peaceful life and we’re about to give it to her,” Caleb says, his voice echoing in the common room as we all head for the door.
***
Fourteen men are tied up in front of us.
We’re waiting on the last asshole to show up and he should be here any second.
Most of the men put up a fight so we’ve all taken turns putting them in their place.
There won’t be any interrogation today because we already know what they’ve done and this is all about removing them from the world.
Master has all the information he needs to save anyone they might have bought and all of their contacts so we can keep an eye on things moving forward.
“He’s here,” Viper says from his spot just inside the door.
