Chapter Fourteen
Drake showered and put on boxers before wetting a washcloth and taking it into the bedroom.
He smiled when he saw she hadn’t moved an inch.
He loved it when he fucked her unconscious.
It told him he’d taken her so well that her body had a hard time with the pleasure he gave her.
He knew he had never hurt her, but he could tell it made her uncomfortable sometimes because he controlled every part of her body.
He spread her legs and wiped her clean, ignoring when her legs tightened. After disposing of the cloth, he opened his bedroom door to find the cart with the food he had asked for.
He pulled the cart into the room, shut the door, and locked it. He set the cart next to the bed so he could reach for things before turning to his sub.
“Hey, baby. Wake up for me. I need you to eat.” He smiled when she grumbled and tried to push his hand off her arm. He tried a few more times to wake her, but got nowhere. “I’ll give you until the count of three to open your eyes or else.”
She whimpered but finally struggled to open her eyes.
Drake smiled. “There’s my beautiful sub. Let me help you sit up so you can eat.”
“But I’m not hungry,” she complained.
“You’ll eat for me,” he said.
He lifted her and placed a few pillows behind her. “Are you comfortable?”
She nodded and pulled the blanket up to her chest.
“Oh, no, you don’t,” he said and threw the blanket to the end of the bed. He almost laughed at the disgruntled look on her face. She knew better than to cover herself in front of him. He never allowed anything between them when they were alone.
He handed her a plate with half a sandwich on it. “Start with this while I pour the wine.”
She took a bite and hummed. “I love her egg salad.”
“Me, too.”
They ate in silence for a few minutes. He handed her some fruit after she finished the sandwich he had given her. Camila finished the fruit before she handed her plate to him.
“Are you done?” he asked.
She nodded.
“Fine. I’ll put the slices of cake to the side to eat later.”
She smiled. “Thank you.”
He set everything back on the cart, then arranged both so they were reclining with her pressed tightly against his side, before reaching for the remote.
He scanned several channels before stopping at a movie. “How about this?”
She nodded. “I’ve wanted to watch this.”
“Good.” He set the remote to the side and hugged her tighter.
Drake heard her breathing deepen before they were halfway through the movie. He was glad she was getting the sleep she needed. Besides not eating, she hadn’t had a good night’s rest since hearing from her sisters.
He planned to pamper her until he was sure she was getting back to normal.
The next few days were calm, and he was pleased to hear his wife laughing with her friend, Mandy.
Things got back to normal after Mandy went back to her job, but she promised to visit again soon.
Although Drake was pleased with how relaxed Camila was, he could still detect a shadow of uneasiness in her eyes when she thought he wasn’t watching. He hoped that by sharing the information he was waiting for, he could dispel any further sadness his wife might have.

Camila spent her days after Mandy’s departure in the garden and stables. She tried to stay busy and keep her thoughts of her family from invading.
She knew deep down that there wasn’t anything they could do to hurt her, but until she knew they had been taken care of, she still had a bit of doubt that things were going to be okay.
During the day, it was easier to forget, but sometimes at night she felt the unease start to grow.
If it wasn’t for the way Drake fucked her until she was exhausted each night, she thought her sleep would be filled with nightmares. It helped that when she felt one start, her husband’s arms would tighten around her, and he’d murmur to her until she settled back into deep sleep.
Mandy also helped by calling her every night after work, and she always managed to make her laugh until her stomach hurt.
Camila tried her best to hide the worry from her husband, but by the look in his eyes, sometimes she didn’t think she succeeded. Fortunately, Drake didn’t bug her about it and just gave her the support and security she needed.
Every day that passed became harder when she hadn’t heard anything about her family. When she asked Drake, he told her he was waiting for a few people to get back to him, and when he knew more, he’d tell her everything.
So, she concentrated on taking one day at a time.
