Chapter 4 #2

He thrashed under me, but I had leverage. He didn’t. He tried to stand up, to pull my wrists away from his throat, but it didn’t matter. I had him right where I wanted him.

I hated everything the Association stood for from the day I was press-ganged into their service, but if they’d taught me anything, it would be how to fight. They had taught me how to take down an enemy, how to maneuver myself into the best offensive position.

Scrawny was one of them. He was in the way of me getting to Bane.

He struggled and tried really hard to get away, but the longer I held him, the less noise he made, the less his body fought as he struggled to draw in air. To live. He squeaked, his sounds terrified, but still I didn’t let up.

Soon enough, the life left his limbs and he slouched forward. I kicked him to the side, and he fell to the floor. Lifeless.

I stole the gun from his waist and the keys that had fallen onto the floor beside him.

I glanced back at him, ensuring that he was gone before I rushed out of the cell and locked it behind me.

Quickly, I looked in the other cells and found the one Bane was locked in, but then I heard the other guard groan softly in the hallway.

Dammit. I guess I had to deal with that one too.

With a sigh, I strutted out into the hallway and plastered a seductive grin on my face. He heard my boots smack against the floor, and he looked up excitedly.

“Where’s my friend?” he asked nervously.

“I was a bit much for him. He’s recovering,” I answered smugly. “Hopefully you’ll be able to handle me, soldier,” I added with a smirk and his eyes grew as wide as saucers.

“Oh, yeah. I’ve got something for you, little lady,” he chuckled, rubbing the fabric that covered his dick.

Gross. He made me want to vomit.

Men like this were easy. Flaunt a little pussy in their face and they transformed into something less than human. Trolls.

I took my hand and massaged my right breast, taking care to run a finger over the top of my nipple.

Then, I drew my fingers down my belly and across the hem of my skirt.

He reached for me, drawing his fingers across the skin of my shoulder, and pulled me close to him. I tried not to show my disgust.

He kissed me and I wound my arm behind my back, deftly un-holstering my knife.

I kissed him fervently, drawing him in and doing my best to keep him from growing suspicious even though I was thoroughly disgusted.

I really wanted to cut his dick off for trying to have his way with me, but if I did that, he’d be able to scream and that wouldn’t make any of this better.

He was completely unaware of my movements.

I slowly lifted the knife until it was scant inches from his throat and then I made my move.

Swiftly, I slashed the knife across his throat, making sure that I cut cleanly, deep and true.

He tried to scream, but I swallowed his sounds with my lips, kissing him harder and more desperately than before.

I felt the warmth of his blood spilling down his chest through my fingers and I stepped back, not wanting any to get any of it on me or my clothes.

He choked, gargling on his own blood as he clung to his throat, but it was already too late. He was losing far too much. It wouldn’t be long now.

With a cry, he fell to his knees, trying to stem the flow of blood but his fingers were too slippery. I’d cut him deep, nicking his jugular just right. It was a killing blow. There was no surviving a gash like that.

Two guards. Two human men I’d taken down all by myself. All for him.

I watched as the brown-haired guard slumped to the side, saw the life dim from his eyes and then I turned back around, returning to Bane’s cell as quickly as I could.

I turned the key in the lock, hearing the metal pieces click and then it popped open.

I saw Bane lying on the floor and he groaned, as though he was waking up from whatever poison had been in that gas.

I rushed to his side and knelt down, pressing my fingers to his throat.

Thank god, he still had a pulse.

“Bane. Wake up,” I whispered, jostling him gently as he lay on the floor. He groaned once more and opened his eyes then and I nearly cried out with relief.

“You’re alright,” I whispered.

“What are you doing here, little human?” he asked, clearly surprised by my presence.

“You promised me a good fucking later and I aim to collect,” I teased, smiling as he gained his senses once more. I felt so relieved. He was going to be okay.

“What you really need is my belt whipping that tight little ass for even thinking to come after me,” he threatened, but it lacked the usual weight of his threats.

“Promises, promises,” I answered with a wink.

“I’m proud of you, little human,” he said, and my heart pulsed with adoration.

I loved this man.

“Where are we?” he asked groggily next, shaking his head as he did so. “Fuck. I’ve got a hell of a headache.”

“You’ll get over it,” I smirked, and he glared back at me.

“You’re going to pay for that, little one,” he warned, and I chuckled.

“We should probably figure out how to get out of here,” I said, keeping an eye on the prison door entrance.

I should think of moving that dead, bloody guard out of the hallway or something too.

I grimaced when I thought about it. I didn’t enjoy killing anyone, but it was just something I had to do from time to time during my life.

“Where are we?” he muttered, still struggling to emerge from the effects of the gas.

“The ship’s left Dryac, but we can’t be far. It’s been less than an hour and the ship has given no indication of hyperdrive travel,” I replied, listening intently for any signs of a patrol or extra guards. I heard none.

“That’s good. The two of us against the Association then?” he responded with a grin.

“We can take them,” I said, laughing softly as I did so.

He shook his head once more and then pushed himself up off the floor, up to his feet.

I rose with him and his hand wound around the back of my neck as he pulled me close to him.

I lifted my head to gaze back at him and his lips met mine, devouring me in a kiss so deep that it left me reeling.

His tongue grazed against my lips, urgent in its path and I opened myself to him.

His tongue danced with mine. His kiss devoured me whole and I moaned softly as I pressed my body flush against his.

I pulled away then, whimpering softly as desire rushed through my body.

“I thought I’d lost you,” I whispered, my voice catching with emotion.

“No. It’ll take a lot more than just some Jellein sleeping gas to take me down,” he murmured. I sighed. I should have known. It was essentially an essence developed from the skin oil of a reptilian alien with a known antidote that rendered it useless when taken before exposure.

I hid my face in his chest, still grateful that I was here with him and that he was alright.

“Don’t worry, little one. I’m here for you,” he said softly, his voice full of soft adoration and I melted into his embrace.

“I wish we were back on Dryac,” I replied.

“Me too, but first, we’ve got to get this ship to turn around, don’t we?”

I nodded. He was right.

“This is a Coalition ship, isn’t it?” he asked then, looking around and I nodded.

“It definitely is,” I replied.

“Good. I know how to get to the command station then,” he murmured, before taking my hand and leading me out of the cell.

I took the time to lock the door behind him, ensuring that if anyone came by and looked, that they’d be unable to see that Bane wasn’t in there without actually approaching the door to look inside.

“I’ve got to deal with something in the hallway first,” I said nonchalantly and flounced out of the small ship prison. “Hmm. Bloodier than I left him.”

“Well. That’s messy,” Bane said as he emerged from the jail room. He reached into his pocket and took out what looked like a pen. He clicked the top of it and a laser scanner appeared out of the tip. It skimmed over the brown-haired guard’s body and then he shimmered before disappearing altogether.

“That’s handy,” I observed in disbelief.

“He’s still there, just kind of invisible. It’s a trick of the light,” he replied, and I nodded.

“Neat. Could have used something like that plenty of times in the past,” I said.

He turned back to me, searching my gaze for hints of what I meant, but I didn’t say anything more. Instead, he turned away and approached the stairwell that led up into the bowels of the ship.

“Coalition ships are all designed the same. It’s like a single engineer made their floor plans and have been copying off the original ever since.

Behind the staircase, there is a metal grate that we can use to ascend up into the ship.

If we move fast, we can make our way into the command room in no time flat,” he explained, and I nodded.

The two of us maneuvered behind the stairwell and just like he said it would, there was a metal grate on the wall.

Using my knife, I carefully unscrewed the bolts on my side while Bane took out the others.

In no time at all, the grate was free and the two of us lifted it together and slid it to the side.

Bane climbed in first and bade me to follow him.

I climbed inside behind him.

The two of us climbed up one vent after another, taking care to be as silent as possible.

The air rushed through around us, both chilling and refreshing at the same time.

The entire ship’s ventilation passed through these vents, cooling the stifling heated air that often resulted from being totally confined and sealed off from the vacuum of space outside its walls.
