26. Mattea

Chapter Twenty-Six

MATTEA

I walked out of the mall and placed my dark sunglasses over my eyes.

Cali’s sun was playing no games as I made my way out of the Fox Hill mall.

I loved shopping and today I had a reason to shop and spend a little cash.

My sister’s birthday party was tomorrow and today I planned on pampering myself.

I had a hair appointment in a couple of hours and my nail appointment was tomorrow morning.

I was dressed down in some sweats and a spaghetti strap shirt.

I had on my favorite Chuck Taylor shoes, with my hair slicked neatly into a ponytail.

I had made fifty thousand, doing my last mission for Hector.

My bank account was looking lovely until I figured out what it was, I wanted to do outside of the dynasty, I would be secure with cash.

I decided it was best to stay clear of Ream after all that shit went down with Matthew.

My brother whom I was close to currently wasn’t speaking to me and my sister Kachella had the nerves to be upset about me shooting Hakeem.

Hakeem reached out daily, and I even had missed calls from Ream.

The only people I gave my time to were my two little brothers and my parents.

I didn’t give a fuck about anyone else’s feelings.

Hitting the lock on my car, I opened the trunk and placed my bags inside.

Turning around to get to the driver’s side a limo with tents pulled up and stopped behind my car, blocking me from getting out.

Sighing and pulling my gun out I pointed it towards the back door that was opening.

“Put that away before you hurt yourself, Reaper.” Solo’s tall bulky frame leaned up against the door as he stared at me like he didn’t want to be here. Before I could respond two other big guards that matched Solo in height stepped out of the car from separate doors with their guns drawn.

“I kind of like you, Reaper, I want to keep it that way. I usually come across people with flaws and find myself wanting to kill them. I don’t feel that with you.” He looked at the guards and nodded his head. One of them approached me and I tightened my grip.

“Take another step, and I will blow your head off and watch your brains fly onto him.” I spoke with seriousness as I looked around at the onlookers that looked scared as hell by the sight of all of us holding guns.

I told their nosey asses to move along and chuckled at a couple that started to run out of the parking structure.

Time was ticking, pretty soon, someone would alert the malls security.

“They are here to take your car, where it needs to go. You have an obligation to the dynasty. I wouldn’t be tracking your ass down if you would answer that work phone. Ream needs to see you now, not later.”

“I don’t fuck with the dynasty no more and Ream knows that.

Tell Ream to go fuck himself and you can afterward!

” I sneered. “When I get in my car and y’all ain’t out of my way, I’m ramming that nice company car until you get the message.

” I turned my back and slid into my car.

I looked in my rearview mirror at Solo and could see him laughing while shaking his head.

He told the guards something and they followed suit getting back inside of the limo.

I waited for them to pull off and started my car.

Ream had me fucked up to think he had it like that.

I no longer wanted parts with his fake ass operations.

I didn’t like the way he made me feel either whenever I was around him.

I would be good if I never laid eyes on him again.

Ten minutes into my ride to one of my favorite restaurants my personal phone rung, I looked at it with lifted brows.

Anybody that called my personal phone, I knew who it was.

The number popped up as unknown, battling with answering, I said fuck it and tapped the screen, and remained silent.

“Big mistake Reaper. It’s sad that you chose to go about things the hard way with me.” Even his deep sexy voice had my insides going crazy. Ugh, I really needed to get a proper grip on myself.

“Ream, you and I have nothing to talk about.” I smiled as if he could see me.

“We have so much to talk about Mattea.” The way my name rolled off his tongue had me briefly closing my eyes and almost swerving into the next lane and cars to the side of me started to hunk their horns.

Rolling my eyes and flicking them off, I focused back on the road as I listened to what he was saying.

“Look Ream, I finished my last assignment with Hector. I no longer have a place in your company.” I chose my words carefully since we were on the phone.

“You and my father made a deal that I have nothing to do with. My services are no longer available to you and your fake ass company.” I hung up before he could respond and headed to Ruth Chris Steak house to eat alone in peace.

Valet parking my car I hopped out and made my way inside.

After being seated at my table I ordered lobster and steak and called my dad to check up on him.

“What’s up baby girl?” my dad sounded happy, it sounded like him and Kayori were out in traffic.

“Nothing, out to eat by myself. What y’all doing?

” I told my waiter thanks for my drink and took a sip then picked up the bread to add some spread to it.

My eyes drifted to a table that had a couple sitting comfortably under each other.

They looked to be so in love. Sometimes I craved to know what it felt like to love someone other than my family.

To be so attached to a person that I didn’t want to be apart from them.

Those same thoughts would dissipate after I thought about my mental state of mind and my personal problems. I never wanted to be a burden on anyone and have a person feel sorry for me like I was weak.

“We out on the yacht. Everything okay with you?” I could hear the worry in his voice.

“Yea, everything is fine. I was just thinking of you, so I decided to call you. I think I want to throw a family dinner next week. Cook for you and Yori,” I smiled.

It was the least that I could do, my father would never admit it, but I knew myself, Matthew and Kachella was a big disappoint to him.

It was all overshadowed by how much he loved us.

I went through my hot and cold moments that I sometimes couldn’t control when it came to my dad.

I loved him to pieces but sometimes my attitude towards him could be fucked up.

Heated arguments with him reminded me on how he had lied for years to me about my real mom.

Not that I purposely tried to hold it against him.

I just hadn’t forgotten about it and probably never would.

It was just proof to me that even though my father was like my superhero, he too wasn’t so perfect.

He had broken down and told me the truth a hundred times and gave it to me raw.

At first it hurt me to the core that I didn’t have my biological mother because he killed her.

After understanding why and what all took place, I understood the position he was in.

Things hadn’t been smooth or normal for me ever since, randomly I have dreams of my mom that’s disturbing.

All in all, Kayori and my father wasn’t perfect, but they were good ass parents and I wanted to let them know how much I truly appreciated them.

“Aww that’s so sweet Tea.” Kayori cooed causing me to smile harder. I loved making these two happy because they always showed so much love and support to us. I hated when me and my father were at odds because a part of me felt unbalanced.

“Okay baby girl, have you been dating?” he asked, and I dropped my mouth in shock. If anybody didn’t want me dating that would be my father.

“No, I’m not looking for love dad.” I took a bite from my bread. “I don’t want my problems being someone else’s concern.”

“If you talking about the episodes, you have Tea that can be controlled by controlling your thoughts and feelings. When you hear that dark voice in your head, you got to embrace it and be able to know right from wrong. That’s what I do.” He stated confidently and I nodded my head.

“I understand but what about the catatonic disorder? I take meds and I have been trying to do everything in my power to prevent from freezing up. That shit is embarrassing.”

“It’s not embarrassing to me.” I heard a deep voice behind me and damn near jumped of my seat. My hand instantly clutched my gun that was in my waist tight.

“I thought you were eating alone?” my dad questioned.

“I am, someone I know just came to my table, now my waiter is here with my food. I will call you when I get home and settled.” I rushed my speech as fast as I could, I watched Ream open his suit jacket before taking a seat in front of me.

Scanning the restaurant, I spotted Solo and a couple of other men sitting at a table close to the entrance.

“Okay, well we will continue this conversation later on. I love you Tea, call or text when you make it in safe.”

“Love you too and I will.” I hung my phone up, looking up at Ream, I couldn’t deny how fine he looked in a three-piece Navy-blue suit. He looked like he just left the barber shop with how sharp his tapered fade was. His goatee beard was lined up perfectly, I stared into his hazel brown eyes.

“What are you doing here?” I asked as the waiter walked up with my food.

“Bring a to-go container please.” He opened his suit jacket exposing his gun inside of its holster and pulled out a money clip that held neatly folded bills and peeled off a couple of hundreds from it and sat it on the table.

“We can do this shit the easy way, or perhaps you love it rough and hard.” He licked his lips and stared at my cleavage. Leaning over the table, his tall frame had the waiter looking on amused, his cologne drifted up my nose.
