Chapter 19 #3
My love, yes, love, the word crystallizing in both our minds simultaneously, sharp and new and utterly certain, blooming like one of my accelerated flowers, taking root in soil that's never grown anything beautiful before.
We move together slowly, almost carefully, like we're both afraid of breaking something precious.
He eases me down onto the deck plating, and I should feel the cold metal against my back but all I register is heat, his body covering mine, skin sliding against skin with friction that sparks pleasure up my spine.
When he enters me, the neural link turns the sensation into something transcendent.
I don't just feel my own pleasure building. I feel his. The tight heat of my body around him, the way I clench and flutter with each slow thrust, the soft sounds escaping my throat that he catalogs and treasures like they're prayers meant only for him.
And he feels mine. The stretch and fullness, the pressure building low in my belly, the way his hips angle to hit that perfect spot inside me that makes coherent thought dissolve into pure sensation.
"Look at me," he commands, and I do, meeting those void-dark eyes that should be frightening but only make me feel seen in a way I never have before. "Stay with me. Right here. Right now."
So I do.
I stay present for every slow withdrawal and deeper thrust. I stay present for the way his breathing goes ragged, for the restraint vibrating through his frame as he holds back, trying to make this last. I stay present for the moment his control finally cracks and he drives into me with something closer to desperation, chasing release like it might anchor us both to life.
The orgasm builds at the base of my spine, pleasure coiling tighter and tighter until I can't tell where my sensation ends and his begins. We're tangled together in every sense, bodies and minds and something deeper than either, something that might actually be souls if such things exist.
When I finally shatter, he's right there with me, and the neural link amplifies everything until the pleasure becomes almost unbearable in its intensity.
Power surges through us both.
Not just the physical release, though that's devastating enough on its own. Something else, something vast and primal and utterly unprecedented. Our combined energy, his void affinity, my bio-kinesis collide and merge and create something new.
The shockwave erupts outward from where our bodies join.
Every light in the command center flares brilliant white, then dies. Tactical displays short out in showers of sparks. The steady hum of electronics cuts to sudden, shocking silence.
For one perfect moment, we float in darkness broken only by emergency lighting stuttering to reluctant life, casting us in intermittent shades of red that make everything feel dreamlike and unreal.
Then gravity fails.
The sensation is disorienting, my stomach lurching as the artificial weight that's been constant since boarding suddenly vanishes.
We drift upward together, still locked in our intimate embrace, and Haid's arm bands around my waist like he can anchor me through sheer will alone.
His fingers spread possessively across my lower back, holding me against him even as we tumble slowly through the weightless space.
Our legs tangle, trying to find purchase where none exists.
"That," he manages, voice rough and wondering, still breathless from our exertions, "has never happened before."
I would laugh if I could catch my breath, if my lungs weren't still struggling to remember how to function properly. My hair floats around us in a dark cloud, and I have to push it away from my face to see him clearly in the flickering emergency lights. "The bond or the power surge?"
His expression is unreadable in the shadows, but through the neural link I feel his genuine bewilderment mixed with something that might be awe. "Either."
The station groans around us, metal stressed beyond its tolerances. New alarms begin wailing, these ones signaling catastrophic systems failure.
Haid's eyes meet mine, and through the neural link I feel his reluctance to let go, to end this moment, warring with the tactical necessity of survival.
"We have to run," I whisper against his shoulder, even as my body still trembles with aftershocks of pleasure and power, my legs weak and unsteady despite the weightlessness that holds us suspended.
Every nerve ending still sparks with residual energy from what we've just done, from the bond that now pulses between us like a living thing.
"I know," he murmurs, his voice carrying that same reluctance I feel thrumming through the neural link, that desperate wish to stay in this bubble we've created, this moment where nothing exists but us and the extraordinary connection we've forged.
But neither of us moves for another heartbeat, suspended in the failing gravity, holding onto each other like we can stop time through will alone.
Then the command center's door shudders, someone trying to override the lock from outside, and reality crashes back with brutal efficiency.
We have to run.
And this time, we run together.
