Epilogue
Sarah — Three Months Later
The sun is beaming down in the most oppressive way possible.
It's in my eyes even with my hat and sunglasses on; it's making sweat trickle from every pore on my body.
Even places where there are no sweat glands.
I'm sweating from my eyeballs and from the spaces between my toes and from my fingernails and earlobes.
Worth. It.
My heart skips a beat as the gate opens and John pulls into the driveway.
I rise to my feet as he drives slowly, like he's trying to tease me.
My plan for the next twenty minutes is clear.
Once he stops the car, I saunter over with my bucket and sponge.
I hadn't planned on getting in, but he opens his door and grabs my hand, making me drop the bucket.
He pulls me into the car. I straddle him and his fingers dig into my ass.
I swallow thickly when he moves them down, toward the apex of my legs.
The car is air-conditioned to a T. It smells like hot sexy man and new-car leather. It smells heavenly. There's a slight musk coming from my man. I can even detect my own arousal in the small space between me and John.
"Trying to make the heat more bearable?" he says, his hands roaming over my arms and shoulders.
"Oh, absolutely," I say, my voice becoming husky and seductive. "Can I interest you in our special VIP wash?”
I slide deeper into his lap, feeling his hard length pulse between my legs.
“What exactly is a VIP wash?”
I bite my lip and drag a finger down his shirt.
“Well,” I say, “it’s only for our most exclusive clients. Full rub-down. And it is extra, extra wet.”
He growls and shifts his hips up.
“I think that is something I would most definitely be interested in.”
He presses his mouth to mine, making me whimper against his lips as he kisses me.
When I’m able to pry myself out of this gorgeous man’s arms, I slide backward on his lap, ready to get down to work.
“You’re the VIP tonight,” I whisper against his ear. “And I intend to take very, very good care of my most important client.”
“Most important?” He slides a finger under my chin and makes me look up at him. “I better be your one and only client.”
“Don’t want to share me?” I whisper as I pull my shirt over my head. I’m bared to him, wearing nothing but my spandex shorts.
He bites his lip and shifts his hips up.
“There is no sharing when it comes to you.”
I open the door and slide out of his lap.
“You’re damn right,” I whisper.
“Show me how you treat your favorite client.”
I reach for my bucket and sponge, feeling the heat of his gaze on every inch of me. I circle the car, running my hands across its curves like a lover’s embrace. I dip my sponge in the bucket and begin to work, starting at the hood and working my way down.
Being with John has been an absolute dream. It doesn't feel real. All of it is just so good. Instead of scraping by, I'm met with comfort. Instead of feeling alone, I feel seen.
And I feel very seen right now, as his expression grows dark and possessive. He opens the door and steps out of the car.
He's so big. He makes the car look like a toy.
He walks toward me and I drop the bucket and laugh.
"I wasn't finished yet!"
"You're finished when I say you're finished," he says with a smile on his face as he erases the distance between us.
His hands come up to cup my face, his thumb tracing circles on my cheekbone. I run my fingers against his scratchy beard. I am so in love.
“I don’t ever want you to finish,” he says softly. “I like having you here with me too much for that.”
My heart swells in my chest and I lean into his touch, feeling electricity spark between us like never before.
He takes a deep breath and kneels down in front of me.
“Will you marry me?” he asks, his voice raw with emotion.
He pulls a small box out of his jacket pocket and opens it to reveal a huge diamond ring, and it's like the world slips out from under me.
I lose my balance. I have to put my hand on his shoulder to keep myself from falling.
He's so in tune with me, reaching out to grab my waist and hold me steady.
“Will you let me love you and take care of you for the rest of our lives?”
Tears pinch at the corners of my eyes as I look into his beautiful face.
"Yes," I whisper, my voice breaking through with joyous tears. "Yes, I will!"
He stands up, taking me in his arms and kissing away my tears.
"I'm so happy," he murmurs into my hair. "I love you more than anything in the world, and I want to make sure you know that.”
My heart is overflowing with happiness as I kiss him back with everything I have.
