Chapter 10 #3
He plunks the extra helmet he has—it smells new—down on my head. He starts to adjust the straps. “I’m a persistent asshole, have we not established that yet?”
“I don’t much care, still not telling you,” I grumble.
“I’ll just follow you,” he adds.
“Then I know if trouble comes my way, I won’t have any problems,” I sass back.
“Good thing you wore jeans, hate for one of those pretty dresses to fly up. I’d have to kill anyone who saw your sexy little body.” He wags his brows at me.
“Who the fuck are you and what did you do with Carbon?” I press my fists to my hips feeling pretty upset with his sudden playfulness. Six months ago, he kissed me, we got caught, and he had the audacity to ask for Virus to not tell anyone, like he was embarrassed by me. Asshole.
I won’t be his dirty little secret.
I deserve better than that.
“Sexy, I am about to have you on the back of my bike. You will be the first fucking woman to ever ride with me, and I can’t even pretend I’m not excited for it.” He grins and damn is it cute. The way his lips pull to the side, the little creases next to his eyes, he is just so damned delicious.
“Fuck you.” I cross my arms over my chest despite the flutter happening in my chest and perhaps between my thighs as well.
He sighs. “I deserve that.”
“Yeah, you do. Can we please get going so I can get my damn car,” I huff out.
He climbs on his bike after pulling his helmet into place.
His hand comes out to me, holding palm up, I stare at it before finally slipping my hand into his.
He supports me while I throw my little leg over his big ass bike.
I scoot in, his hands come to my outer thighs, pulling me even tighter to him.
I wrap my hands on his sides. “When was the last time you rode on a bike?”
“Haven’t,” I tell him honestly. I am excited about this too, not to mention feeling his hips between my thighs is… wow.
“Keep your body relaxed against mine, don’t jerk, keep your eyes out ahead so you can anticipate what is happening, and enjoy.” He pats my thigh.
Getting the bike started, we slowly roll down the road, I assume for me to get used to the feeling. “Oh, and tell me if you need me to pull over.”
By the time we get to the freeway, I feel pretty comfortable, I wrap my hands around his waist, slipping them under his sweatshirt. I hear him chuckle. “Cold hands I see.”
“Sorry, I didn’t think it would be shocking if I kept them over your t-shirt.” He doesn’t seem upset, so I’m not too worried.
“I don’t mind. You can put them under my shirt, it will warm you faster,” he offers.
Without really considering the implications, I do just that, my cool skin presses to his warm abdomen.
I can feel the muscles in his stomach flex a little at the feel of my cool flesh on his.
We pull up next to my car, which is one house down from Mayhem and Paige’s.
I look around feeling glad none of our friends are out.
I climb from the bike, taking the helmet off, I hand it back and he locks it to the seat behind him.
Making my way to my car, I unlock it, pulling the door open I go to take my seat when Carbon calls out.
“I’ll just follow you then?” he says with a chuckle and wink.
“Or you could just go home.” I give him a sour look.
He laughs. “After you!”
I look at my phone debating if I should look up the closest library, I know there are a ton of them here in San Jose, but I’m not sure where they all are.
I also am worried it could create a trail.
Why would someone check my shit though? I roll my eyes because there is a simpler option.
Shoving my car door back open, I can practically feel Carbon gloating behind me, he waits for me to come over to him before pushing his visor up.
“Decided to let me know where you are heading?”
Ignoring his pleased sounding question, I keep my tone flat as I ask my own, “Where is the closest library?”
He eyes me. “Willow Glen, over on Minnesota. Though, I prefer Bascom and my favorite is Pearl… besides MLK Jr. of course. What are you looking for?”
“I just… I just need a library.” I huff, knowing he is going to pry because that is what he does, he insists on knowing every fucking thing. It is so fucking annoying and maybe a little endearing. Okay, a lot fucking endearing, don’t judge me.
“Alright, follow me,” he suggests and color me shocked because I really thought he was going to pry. My eyes narrow, I am sure he is going to try to bully his way in and try looking over my shoulder, so he is just holding back on his clear curiosity. Damnit.
I get back into my car and follow him, it’s only a couple minutes before I realize he has me following him to his house, I go with it anyway, curious as to what the plan is here.
When he pulls into his driveway, motioning to the spot beside his bike for me to park, I do. I climb out. “I asked for a library.”
“And we will go to one, but it would be a lot better to go together, and I see no reason not to when I already know where you are going.” He holds the extra helmet out to me.
