Chapter 21 #2
“Then we better make the most of it when we find him in a couple of days.”
“Damn right. It might be my only chance.”
“I got your back.”
“I know.”
We leave the bar and head back to Crestvale House, and the closer we get, the less I think about Leon and the more I think about my beautiful Rue. I want to keep him, and I want him to know without a doubt that he’s safe. So safe.
I can be that for him, at least. I might not be boyfriend material, but I can definitely be a safe harbor. He’ll never have to struggle again as long as I’m in his life.
By the time we pull up to the house, I’m antsy to see him again. I hope he’s in my bed, naked and waiting.
“Thanks again, man,” I say to Whisper as we separate once we’re inside the house.
I take the stairs two at a time, hurrying to my bedroom. I swing the door open and find Rue in bed. He’s lying on his side watching TV wearing only a pair of boy shorts. That’ll work.
“Hiiii,” he purrs when he sees me. “You’re home.”
“I am.” I kick off my boots and tug my t-shirt over my head.
“How did it go? I take it you didn’t find Leon or you’d be a lot bloodier.”
“That’s correct, but I found out where he’s gonna be.”
“Tonight?”
“Night after tomorrow. Brooklyn was very helpful.”
“Is he dead now?”
“No. I gave him a chance. If he’s dumb enough to tip Leon off, I’ll hunt him down.”
Rue grins at me, rolling onto his stomach facing me. “That’s hot.”
“What is?” I unzip my jeans and tug them off.
“The way you are. Definitely the way you look.” He quirks his lips. “The way you touch me.”
“Do you want me to touch you again?”
He nods. “Please. I want to choke on your cock and then I want to fall asleep with it in my mouth again. I want to keep it there as long as possible.”
“Fuck.” I rub my swelling cock through my briefs before discarding them too. “You’re so perfect for me.”
“Am I?”
I nod, stalking towards the bed. “I was worried you’d be…” I trail off, searching for the words.
“What?”
“Too innocent, I guess. Too sweet. I thought I’d corrupt you.”
He smiles as I stroke his golden hair back from his forehead. “I’m tougher and freakier than I look.”
I chuckle, nodding. “True.” I cradle his chin in my hand. “And so beautiful. So sexy. I crave feeling your skin, tasting your lips, looking into your eyes. I don’t think I’ll ever get enough.”
His cheeks bloom a pretty pink in the light from the TV screen. “You make me feel amazing.”
“You are.”
I climb in next to him, pulling him into my arms and kissing the top of his head.
Rue tilts his head up. “Can I ask you something?”
“Anything?”
“Would you ever let me… I mean, would you consider…” Rue pauses, looking unsure.
“Go on. You can ask me anything.”
“Okay. I’m really curious about—no, that’s the wrong word. I want to see you work. I know you don’t want me around Leon, and I get that, but I want to know you as well as I can. I want to know what you do.”
“You know what I do, Rue.”
“I want to see it.”
“Nope. Colson doesn’t go out with Specter. Same for Pax and Wraith. The less you know, the better. If something were to ever go down and I was arrested or something, you could say you didn’t know anything because you didn’t.”
“Oh please.” He rolls his eyes. “As if you’d get arrested. You’ve been doing this for years already.”
“Doesn’t mean I can’t get caught.”
He huffs, narrowing his eyes as he looks back at the cooking show on TV. “You don’t control me, you know? I could—”
“Could what?” I snap.
He looks defiant as he says, “Whatever I want. I can do what I want.”
“You think so? You think you can bully me into taking you out on a job?”
He searches my eyes for a moment before his soften and a sweet smile tugs at his lips. “Sorry. I don’t know what got into me for a minute.”
“You’re right about one thing, Rue. I don’t control you, but I will keep you safe no matter what. It’s more important to me than I can express. So please, precious, don’t push me.”
“Would you be mad at me?”
“I’d be disappointed.”
“Oof, that’s a low blow.”
I rub his chin with my thumb. “Rue, I…” The words catch in my throat and I exhale slowly to get my mind to calm down.
“What is it, Matias?”
Fuck. When he calls me that, it feels like I’m rediscovering a part of myself I thought was long lost.
“I’m addicted to you. You’ve got me wrapped around your pretty fingers, and all I want to do is keep you safe and make you happy, and if that means I can’t let you do something you want to do, then so be it. Your safety is worth your temporary frustration with me.”
He gazes at me with bright eyes. “Okay. I understand.”
“Good.”
Rue wraps himself around me, moving down my body until he settles between my legs. I tangle my fingers in his hair as he takes me into his warm mouth. My eyes flutter and my body relaxes into the mattress. This is heaven and he’s my pretty angel baby.
I’ll do anything to keep him, and I can only hope that somehow, someday, my heart will understand what love is and give it freely. Until then, I’ll do what I can to make him happy.
