Garrett drives through the pouring rain, directed by the voice on his phone’s navigation system. Two more blocks. He pulls into a driveway as the wind picks up, and his car starts to rock back and forth.

He takes a deep breath and waits for his watch to strike 7:17. It’s been a long time since he’s had one of these jobs. But he feels his training kicking back in.

Follow the steps. Stick to the script. Everything goes how it’s supposed to go. The alarms on his phone and watch go off at the same time. He reaches around to grab the bag in his backseat as the power in the neighborhood goes out. He steps out into the rain and makes his way toward the house in the dark.
