Chapter 39

Chapter Thirty-Nine

Daniil

“Are you sure you want to do this now?” I asked one hand on the steering wheel and the other on her knee, just under the scalloped edge of the white dress she was wearing. “We could wait. I could organize a wedding you’ve always dreamed of: a church, flowers.”

I rubbed my thumb across the inside of her thigh, and not for the first time since we had set off, I regretted driving myself.

If I had thought about this and made someone else drive, I could have had my hand up that dress and her cumming on my fingers already.

Every time she was close to me, that’s all I wanted to do—make her moan my name. I was obsessed with it.

“Daniil,” she sighed my name, her hand coming down to trap mine to stop it sliding up higher. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her turn to me and smile. Her cheeks flushed.

That just made me grin. She wanted my hands on her as much as I did.

In the month since she had agreed to be mine forever, she had really come alive again.

Sometimes there was still pain and shadow in her eyes, but both she and Timothy were getting the counselling they needed.

All in all, our lives were pretty damn perfect.

I wanted the rest of our lives to be like that. And if that meant postponing the wedding so she could have the one she had always dreamed of, then so be it.

“I love you.”

“I love you more,” I said instinctively. “In fact, I love you most.”

She rolled her eyes, and I squeezed her knee. “You know, the only time I allow you to roll your eyes at me is when I’m buried in you, Lily. So, unless you want me to pull this car over and bend you over your seat, I suggest you behave,” I warned.

She rewarded me with a little giggle, and I was sure I saw her eyes roll again. I slowed the car.

“Don’t you dare, Daniil,” she warned. “We have people waiting for us.”

“Let them wait.” Now that I was thinking about it, pulling over and filling her with my seed felt like a really good idea.

“Don’t you want to get married?”

My good mood evaporated. “Of course I do. You know I do. I just worry that you will regret not having the big fairy tale wedding.”

Straining her seat belt as far as it would go, she leaned over and pressed her lips to my cheek. I turned my face to hers so that her second kiss would land on my mouth.

“Eyes back on the road.” She ordered with a giggle.

“I don’t care about a big fairy tale wedding, Daniil,” she said with a sigh as she settled herself back against the buttery leather of the seats.

“I don’t need or want a big wedding. In fact, I would probably hate it,” she admitted.

“What I want is a marriage. With you. A future with you. Now if you want to postpone and wait for a big—”

“I don’t,” I said quickly. “I want a marriage. A real partnership with you.” I swept my eyes to her.

“I want the next time I feel you with my cum to be when you’re legally my wife.

I gulped down a breath. “I want today to be the start of the rest of our lives together, and it will be the rest of our lives, Lily. No divorce, no breaks. You will be mine forever.”

“I can live with that,” she gave a small shrug, “as long as you are mine as well.”

“Always.” I took her hand and brought it to my lips.

We spent the rest of the short drive out of the city in a comfortable silence. I didn’t speak again until we had passed the gates to the small intimate hotel where we would say our vows to each other. I pulled the car in, noticing the familiar cars of our friends already there.

“Lily?” I sighed, killing the engine. “We need to talk.”

She looked at me in shock. A flicker of unease made her eyebrows knot tighter. “Is something wrong?”

“No,” I said quickly, and I hoped that was true.

“Then what—”

I cut her off. Sliding my fingers between hers. “I wanted to talk to you about it last night, but I was afraid of your reaction.”

“Do you want to call this off? Was that what earlier was about? Are you having cold feet and want to go back to our earlier arrangement?”

I started. “No. God no. I love you.” I brushed my lips against the back of her hand and then dropped it to my lap.

“Don’t ever think I don’t want to spend my life with you because I do.

It’s just that you should know something.

And I’m not sure how you will take it, but I promised you I would always be honest, and I don’t want you to marry me with this hanging over our heads. ”

Her eyes narrowed. “Did you cheat on me?” The pain in her voice was audible. It shook with it. “Was it before or—”

Her voice cracked. “After. I—”

“Jesus.” Unclipping her seat belt, I pulled her fully into my arms. “Jesus, no, Lily. There hasn’t been another woman since I laid eyes on you. I have not and will never stray from you.”

She let out a little sigh of relief. “That’s good because I had this thought that I might have to kill you with that gun you’re hiding,” she winked.

I flexed my hips. “That isn’t a gun you are feeling, Lily,” I pointed out.

“Then what?”

“It’s Greg.” Even saying her asshole of an ex’s name out loud felt like a sacrilege on our special day. I never wanted to mention his name again. But she needed to hear this, and it would be better coming from me.

“What about him?”

“He’s dead.”

She went perfectly still on my lap. “Ok.”

“His body was pulled from the river yesterday morning.”

Lily blew out a breath. “Did you kill him?”

I hesitated. “No.” I finally answered. “No,, I didn’t kill him, but I wished I had,” I added honestly.

“Ok,” she said again. There was a hint of pain in her voice as she hid her face against my chest.

The car filled with silence so heavy that it felt like I couldn’t breathe. Was she grieving him? Even after everything he had done?

“Talk to me, please, Lily,” I begged. “Use your words and tell me how you are feeling.”

She lifted her head slowly. “I feel like I’m about to marry the love of my life.” Leaning forward, she brushed her lips against mine in a tender kiss. “For Greg, I feel nothing. I mean, apart from relief.”

I swallowed hard and found her lips again. We stayed like that for a few seconds, just sipping on each other’s lips like they were the finest wine.

“Relief?”

She nodded her lips still pressed to mine. “Yes, relief. I’m glad he’s gone because now we really can put the past behind us.”

I grinned. “Want to get married?”

“Yes, please.”

But neither one of us moved. We fell against each other. Our lips came together so hard that our teeth clashed. In seconds, I was throbbing for her.

“Are you two coming to get married or are you just going to make out in the parking lot?” Anya called, her knuckles rapping on the window.

We came apart guiltily. Pressing my forehead to Lily’s, I sighed happily. “Let’s go get married.”

It was a simple affair, me in a suit with Timothy at my side. Lily, in her simple white dress with a bouquet of wild flowers, which hid the small bump that pressed the dress outwards. Her hair was curled, and her makeup was natural.

She looked like a damn fairy princess, and honestly, I had never seen her look so beautiful. And she was all mine, for now and for always. Our closest friends and family sat watching her, and I saw nothing but love in their eyes, too.

Lily was right. The wedding didn’t matter. The life we built afterward did. I wanted a marriage with her. A future. Smiling to myself, I left my place and went to her, wrapping her in my arms and bending her backwards so I could kiss her lips.

“You look beautiful,” I whispered against her mouth. Murmurs went up around us. But I didn’t care. I knew I was supposed to wait until the officiant said I could kiss her, but I couldn’t wait. I’d already been away from her for twenty long minutes. And it was twenty minutes too long.

“You’re supposed to wait, Daniil.” I heard Anya giggle. “He’s never been very patient.”

I ignored her as well. My entire world, my entire focus was trained on Lily and how she felt in my arms.

“I look the same as I did earlier,” she pointed out.

“Yeah, beautiful.” I claimed her lips again. “I think we should get married so I can take you upstairs and fill your belly full of babies.”

I kept my voice low so no one could hear, but she blushed anyway. “My body is already full of your baby, Danill,” she pointed out.

“Babies.” I straightened her, gently placing her back on her feet. But I didn’t let go of her. It was like I was incapable of letting her go, and after today, I never had to let her go.

Feared Bratva or not, I wanted her by my side forever. I wouldn’t be able to live if I didn’t. She was my entire world.

“I want you to have my babies, and if I can’t out another one in you right now, then—”

The officiant cleared his throat. Blushing scarlet, Lily hid her face in my chest. I couldn’t help it, I laughed. “Well, we will just have to practice a lot until I can knock you up again.”

Holding her to my side, I walked us up the aisle together. We said our vows, our voices clear and our promises forever, and it would be forever for us. It might have started out as something with a time stamp on it, but no more.

Turning to her, I drew her hands up to my lips. “I will love and cherish you through this life and the next,” I promised. “This is forever, Mrs. Popov.”
