Epilogue Willow

Icringe when my husband grabs hold of another person and tries to move them to the back of the line. He’s not a fan of people that cut. Or men.

As evidenced by the fact that all the men who are waiting to get their books signed are in the back of the line and the women are all up front.

Livvy sighs. “I can’t believe he’s still like this. I mean. It’s been six years and two more kids. You guys are trying to start your own baseball team for heaven’s sake! Tell your husband to stop acting like a caveman lunatic and just settle down.”

Giggling, I watch as he growls at another man who walks in the door. “I’ve tried. He refuses to think that there are men out there that love romance books. He thinks they’re all here to hit on me.”

Livvy nods her head. “I’m not sure they’re not but it’s bad for business because they’re also buying books. It’s good for your bottom line.”

I glance at the clock and sigh. “Seriously, Livvy. How much longer? I’m exhausted and Ginny is going to be needing food pretty soon.”

“I told you to get her started on bottles.”

“And I told you I’m not ready for that yet.”

I love nursing my babies. I’m not ready to give it all up. Now that we’ve got a boy and a girl that Claudia can be a big sister to, Jasper wants to stop.

I’d gladly have more babies. But he says we’re getting too old and it’s not safe.

“I hate geriatric pregnancies,” I growl under my breath. Just because I’m thirty six and he’s in his forties doesn’t mean we can’t have more kids.”

“Stop trying to repopulate the planet with that man and just write! Your last book has been on the bestseller list for about six months. They’re saying that this last trilogy is your best ever.

I mean, I’m so damn happy that I can’t hardly stand myself and my boss is offering me a raise and a beamer. It doesn’t get much better than that.”

I grin at her and whisper. “I have a new series that’s all about this alpha cop and the woman he saves. He’s trying to find why she was almost killed and who’s behind it. But it’s a mystery.”

The woman in front of me gasps. “Is that what your new series is going to be?” Her hands are clasped in front of her chest and she’s flushed, biting her lip.

“Don’t drop hints, Willow!” Livvy groans. “I keep telling you that and you keep letting stuff slip.”

“Where did you come up with that story?” One of the other women asks.

I glance over at my surly, unhappy, beautiful husband and smile. “It just came to me one night.”

Livvy groans. “Stop. I can’t take anymore. You two are the worst.”

I smirk. “You love it and you know it. It’s the best for the bottom line after all.”

“Yeah, yeah,” she growls. Then she stalks over to turn the sign on the door and I see her talking to Jasper and his eyes dart to mine, wicked heat burning in his gaze.

I sign the last few books and smile at everyone who showed up, then I stand up and walk to my husband who watches me like he can’t get enough.

“Hello, little sprite. Ready to head home.”

We’ve got an hour to get there. But I don’t care. I have an hour alone with my husband and Maggie and her friend, Roger are taking care of the kids until we get home.

I lean my head on his chest and hug him tight. He kisses the top of my head and growls.

I giggle. “You need to stop harassing the men.”

“They need to find a new writer to fanboy.”

“Take me home and show me how much you need me,” I giggle. “Claim me, caveman.”

“With pleasure, my sprite. With so much pleasure.” His lips claim mine and Livvy groans and gags.

But I barely hear her. Because all I feel is his warm, soft lips and the minty fresh taste of him.

My whole body catches fire and I breathe, “Now. Let’s go, Jasper.”

And we run out the door, giggling like a pair of teenagers. Or at least I am.

I choose to believe Jasper does too though.

And we find our car and ride off into the sunset in our sensible minivan, heading for our castle in the mountains and our friends and family, his hand holding mine as he kisses my knuckles like the gentleman caveman he is.
