30. Shiloh #2
He stands, reaching for my hand to pull me up with him, and tugs me closer, skimming his lips across mine.
The pressure builds in my chest as his heart thuds against my hand.
He lifts my palm from his chest and kisses the ring on my finger before leading us to his room.
I close the door and he places me at the edge of the bed, gazing down at me, and I feel exposed. Yes, I’m physically naked, but it’s more than that. Ledger grounds me with his presence alone. Everything about him has weight — a significance.
When he looks at me, it’s like he sees all my mistakes, all of my past, and doesn’t care. He’s looking at me for the woman I am now, and his confidence in what he admires makes my chest hurt because I’m afraid it’s not real.
His large hand clasps my chin drawing it towards him. Our mouths meet and my pulse spikes as heat sparks over my skin.
I whimper into his mouth, and his hand slips behind my back, helping me up the bed.
Ledger crawls over me, our eyes locked together in a silent conversation of all the words unsaid. His hair falls forward, and I push it back, and he turns into my hand, kissing my palm.
“I’m so glad you’re okay,” I whisper.
“I didn’t realize you were so worried about me,” he says.
I lick my lips, dropping my eyes, perhaps out of embarrassment or the need to hide from my own feelings.
“I was,” I rasp.
He hums and I lift my knees to his sides.
Want presses down on us, and every muscle in my body clenches with hunger.
“Now you know how I felt when the house was vandalized.”
I blink in shock. I didn’t realize he felt like that so … early.
“Kiss me,” I beg.
He does and I don’t have anymore words. They can’t be said, but they can be felt.
Hands everywhere, chests pounding, hearts fiercely working to keep up.
“I need you, Shy,” he rasps.
I nod and nip his jaw.
He reaches into his nightstand. When he’s ready, his focus returns to me, and I shift under his scrutiny.
He drags himself over my center, making my hips buck, and he chuckles.
“Please,” I rasp.
He gives me what I want, slowly rocking into me.
All I am is nerve endings and reactions.
His hand fists the sheets next to my head as his other tightens on my hip. We’re so close, but not close enough.
“More. Ledger,” I moan.
He huffs and kisses me, bringing me to his mercy with each torturous thrust of his hips.
My eyes fall closed, savoring every devastating pulse of our bodies.
“Look at me,” he commands.
My eyes obey on their own, fluttering open.
Ledger groans sitting up with me in his arms as he thrusts up into me. Slow is no longer an option. My head drops back on a cry and he sucks on my pulse.
Grazing his teeth across my skin, I shudder in his hold, fisting his hair, and he moans into my skin, laying me down while he stays kneeling between my legs to lift my hips up.
He picks up his pace, focused on where we’re connected, and when he looks up, all I see is the longing in his eyes, the hunger.
I can’t look away, watching sweat drip down his chest as I meet his thrusts.
His rhythm falters as he drives me up the bed. I brace my hands on the headboard, and he groans, dropping his head back, losing his restraint.
The edge melts in front of me. I can feel myself start to fall over it. A tear drops from my eye as the feeling of Ledger and what we’re sharing nearly swallows me whole. My heart screams and my soul howls with understanding.
He grunts as my body silently begs for him to put me over the edge.
“You’re doing so good, baby, look at you,” he mumbles.
My nails dig into the wood as I cry out, lifting my leg into the crook of his elbow as his thrusts get rougher, more uncoordinated.
Our mouths smash together, and it’s messy and needy, and I know somewhere in the back of my mind, on the walls of my heart, that this will never be enough.
Then he slows again as if he never wants this to end, burning me with his hips, effectively turning the floor beneath us to ash, and I fall.
A strangled noise rips from my throat as my vision tunnels.
Somewhere in the distance I can hear him moan into my skin, but I’m still floating in the stars.
His hips don’t stop as my body trembles with the comedown, relishing every stroke as I cling to him.
We finally still, and he looks down at me as if he’s seeing me for the first time. And I stare up at him, and it’s like a torrential downpour of emotion.
Everything has changed.
Ledger blinks, finally returning to Earth and drops next to me, both of us wincing in the process. He seizes my chin and kisses me before hopping up and going to the bathroom.
When he comes back, he pulls me into his side and widens his hand over my stomach. His thumb starts a small lazy circle on my skin and it prickles beneath his touch.
I spin around to look at him and his expression drops.
“Are you okay?”
I nod drawing a finger over his mustache.
He leans in, drawing my mouth to his, and we explore each other in these new bodies we possess.
“Stay here,” he whispers, with heavy-lidded eyes.
I close my eyes and snuggle into him because I never want to leave.
I want forever with him.
The puzzle of our souls is altered, and I know my life will never be the same.
I’m in love with my husband, and I shouldn’t be, but I don’t think I had a chance the moment I said, I do.
