Ledger

“One of them better not be a puzzle, because I am not doing a puzzle in bed,” Shiloh says in all her sass.

I throw my head back laughing, and it immediately cuts off when she grabs me.

“No, wife, that’s not at all what I had in mind,” I croak.

She hums and nips my lip.

I cup the back of her neck, holding her in place, savoring her lips.

Her leg swings over my hips, and she kisses me like the world is about to end.

I lift my head to meet her mouth, and she giggles, rubbing a thumb over my mustache.

I grab her hips, looking for her panties, not finding any.

She pulls back. “Don’t have any to put on. They’re at my apartment.”

I shrug. “Easier for me.”

She laughs, and I take the edge of her shirt, pulling it over her head.

My wife is beautiful.

“I have an idea,” I tell her.

“Oh?” she says.

I nod and wiggle down the bed.

“What are you—”

“Oh,” she says, eyes bright. Life has returned to them, and I’m grateful.

“Get on,” I tell her.

Shiloh hesitates, and I squeeze her butt again. She complies, and I get to work.

“That is…”

“Oh wow,” she sighs, grabbing the headboard.

Her hips move faster, and my grip tightens. I’m hanging by a thread, looking up at my wife from between her legs.

She takes a breath and stills for a moment as her release slams into her.

I hold her still until her hips stop moving. “I knew that mustache was a beautiful thing,” she says, still catching her breath next to me.

I wipe my mouth and chuckle. “Glad I could use it to make my wife happy.”

“Yeah, my husband is amazing at that,” she says.

We’re quiet for a moment. It’s really hitting me that we’re married, for real. There won’t be an amicable divorce because there won’t be a divorce.

“We’re really married,” I say.

She huffs, putting a hand on my chest. “You did ask me to be your wife, again,” she says.

I huff. “I know, but it’s hitting me, you’re mine,” I say, turning my head to look at her. My wife.

“You’re mine,” she whispers, cupping my cheek.

“Always,” I rasp, emotion choking me.

Shiloh slams her mouth on mine, kissing me aggressively.

I roll on top of her. She lifts her knees to my hips, and I don’t wait, fitting us together.

Her neck lengthens as she moans and I thrust my hips, losing myself in my wife.

We’re all tongues and teeth, skin and hands. I can’t get enough of her, as she trembles around me.

“Who said you don’t like giving me control?” I ask, breathless.

“I’ll give that mouth something better to do,” she snaps.

I chuckle, slowing my hips. “Sure, baby, I love giving you what you want.”

Shiloh moans, and her heavy-lidded eyes meet mine. “That’s what I thought.”

“I’m going to put a baby in you,” I grunt and kiss her.

She pants into my mouth as I change the angle of my hips.

“Okay,” she sighs.

“Yeah?” I ask.

“Mhm,” she says, lifting her head, asking me to kiss her.

I roll us so we’re side by side.

“Yes,” she whispers.

“I can’t wait to see you pregnant,” I grunt.

She hums, dropping her nose into my neck.

I keep a vice grip on her thigh, and fire licks up my spine.

“Look at me, Shiloh,” I rasp, slipping a hand between us.

Her brows scrunch together, and her mouth drops open as she pulls me along with her.I sigh, dropping my head to her shoulder, breathing her in. She wraps herself around me while I’m still on top.

“I wonder if it worked,” she says.

I chuckle and pull back to look at her.

“If not, I’m willing to try again,” she says, grinning.

I snort and hold her close.

“Damn, I love my wife.”

She giggles into my shoulder, and I feel her joy; her laughter wrap around my heart.

“You’re my favorite puzzle,” I tell her.

She blinks and her eyes water. “I think that’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever said.”

I smile and brush her tear away.

“So maybe your husband is a little romantic.”

She huffs. “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.”

The Kensingtons might be behind bars, but a case this size requires a lot more work. It doesn’t end with arrests. They ended up finding multiple bodies throughout Kensington Ranch, so murder was added to the long list of charges.

Court dates are coming up, and Shiloh has been a nervous wreck. I hate that she has to even look at Grey again. But it’s the reality. And she’s a strong woman. She told me she could do it, and I trust her to tell me otherwise.

I had to meet Agent Beckett at his office this time. They had some questions for me, and more paperwork. So much paperwork. The wheels of justice might be slow, but the roads are made of paperwork.

Lawrence goes over a few things, asks about Shiloh, then leans back with an odd expression.

“So I have one other thing for you. I wasn’t sure what to make of it. I’m hoping you can shed some light on it.” “Alright,” I say, expecting the worst. I can’t control what Grey said, but I still stand by my word against his.

“Grey Kensington said that you tried to cover up an assault from his ex-girlfriend, who he claims is your wife. His words, not mine, and if this is true, does it have anything to do with the possession or the activities of the Kensingtons?” Lawrence asks.

“Yes, my wife is his ex, and not too long ago he beat her bloody to try to keep her quiet. But I don’t have the slightest clue what he’s talking about,” I tell Lawrence with a straight face.

He’s quiet for a moment, and he nods. “I figured as much. He’s scrambling for a way to make a deal and keep himself out of his future home of life imprisonment.”

“I’m sure he’ll say anything,” I say.

“They usually do.”
