Chapter 18 #2
“I do enjoy it when you explain obvious things to me,” the dragon says. “Because I was just itching to put on that pair of soaked pants.”
“It’s my pleasure,” I tell him. “I’ll tell you more obvious things right now.
For instance, I’m now going to launder my own dress.
For that, I will have to take it of.” I pull it over my head.
The underwear is somewhere in the bonfire hut, and it’s proven mostly a hassle and an unnecessary obstacle to some pretty great pleasure, so I think that’s where it’ll stay.
“You are naked,” Vyrathion says. “See, I can also state the obvious.”
I glance over at him as I start rinsing the dress in the river. “Good job. My turn: you really like to see me like that.”
His cock has stiffened to full mast, and it’s an impressive sight that makes hard tingles shoot through me. Because I know that the most remarkable thing about it is that it feels even better than it looks.
“My turn,” he says. “That dress is a travesty that should be burned and the ashes spread over a volcano.”
“My turn,” I respond while I work. “Yes, I know. Find me a Neiman Marcus and I’ll get a new one.”
“My turn,” the dragon says. “What is a Neiman Marcus?”
“Ha!” I triumph as I slap my dress on a boulder. “That’s a question! You’re not stating the obvious. I win.”
“I dispute that this is a contest,” Vyrathion drawls. “And if it is, I win by default by the simple fact that I am a dragon.”
“Hmm,” I reply, strangely happy about this nonsensical game. “That’s not exactly obvious to me, but maybe to you. Okay, good one. My turn. After I’m done with this, I want to take a bath and I want you to watch for monsters.”
“That’s only borderline obvious,” Vyrathion says. “But I suppose half of it was guessable, at least. My turn. It’s surprisingly pleasant watching you.”
I smile to myself. I think that was a compliment. “My turn. This dress isn’t going to get cleaner.”
I get up and hang my dripping dress on the bush, making sure to give Vyrathion a good look at my nakedness. It’s nothing he hasn’t seen before, but it makes me feel sexy that a male creature as heart-stoppingly attractive as him is affected by my nakedness.
Then I sashay over to the bank and look at the river with my back to him. “I can’t see any monsters.”
Vyrathion comes to stand next to me. “Really?”
I glance down at his midsection. “Well, now I can.”
He gives me the most exciting smirk. “There’s no getting away from that monster.”
“The last thing I want is to get away from that,” I inform him. “It’s the one in the river that worries me. If it comes, will you chase it away?”
“I almost certainly will.”
I frown up at him. “Almost?”
He shrugs. “It may be entertaining. Or it may offer me gold, if it has any sense.”
I take his hand. “Steady me, please. Oh, I think that if you could pick between gold and this,” I give my butt a little slap, “you’d do the only decent thing.
” I don’t know what it is that makes me so giddy.
Probably being naked with a naked dragon, having every reason to expect some more sexy times very soon.
And why not? We won’t stay on this island forever.
I refuse to think too much about the future, because I know it won’t be that great.
The here and now is all that exists, and I’m going to enjoy it as much as I can.
I step into the water, stopping and checking for monsters with every short step on the rocks. Then I let go of Vyrathion and swim a couple of strokes. “No monsters?” I ask for certainty.
“Just the one you mentioned,” the dragon says in his smooth way. “And it’s on land.”
“That’s where I like my monsters,” I state as my toes find the bottom. “I’ll be right up.”
I clean myself as best I can without soap or shampoo or anything like that. But just being this clean must count as a lavish luxury on Xren, so I won’t complain.
The water cools me pleasantly down and I rinse my hair as well as possible. The tangles I can deal with later, with the comb.
“Help me up?” I ask and reach one hand to Vyrathion. “Or do you want a dip as well?”
He just reaches his massive hand to me, grabs my wrist and lifts me ashore. “I will remain dry. And you will remain safe from the monster. Well, one monster. It doesn’t look happy, though.”
I wring some water out of my hair. “Hm? Not happy?”
Vyrathion nods past me. “See for yourself.”
I spin around and yelp. Ten feet from the bank the monster from before is filling almost the whole river, right under the surface. “Shit! Was he there the whole time?”
“It just arrived,” Vyrathion says. “That’s why I got you out of there.”
The monster lifts its head over the surface and looks at us with three big, round eyes. Then it calmly turns around and swims out of sight, trailing tentacles and fins.
My heart beats like crazy. “That was close! Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I hoisted you up instead.” He looks at me with unashamed interest and his cock twitches. “But let’s not talk of that monster anymore. Inside the hut there’s another that you like much more. Shall we check?”
My fear slowly turns to lust. And it’s a strong lust. I need that. “My turn to state the obvious: yes.”
He grabs hold of me, lifts me to his chest and then kisses me. “My turn: good.”
He carries me into the hut and lays me down on the thick layer of leaves. The scent of crushed greenery rises around us, mixing with the intoxicating smell of his skin.
Vyrathion kneels over me, his weight braced on his forearms, and for a moment he just looks, like he's trying to memorize something.
His star-shaped pupils have gone to slits, dark and hungry, but his hands are careful when they trace along my jaw, my collarbone, unlearned territory he's mapping for the first time.
"You're remarkable," he murmurs. His voice has dropped to a rumble I feel more than hear, vibrating through his chest into mine.
"So are you." I pull him down by the shoulders, feeling the ridges along his spine flex under my palms. "Show me how remarkable."
He kisses me again, slower this time, deliberate, and I arch up into him, impatient, done with waiting. His low growl against my mouth tells me he feels the same.
The leaves rustle beneath us as he lowers himself closer, murmuring my name like it's something precious.
The two of us tangle together in the dark of the hut, learning each other by touch and breath and heat, the world narrowing to nothing but skin and scales and heartbeat and the low sounds we can't hold back.
