Chapter 14

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

JAX

Kai disappeared quickly once we got into the house, but I don’t think much of it.

He’s been acting weird since he made that comment on the plane, but we’re in fucking Rio!

My excitement is overpowering the exhaustion weighing heavy in my bones.

It’s already living up to its nickname, The Marvelous City, and we’ve barely scratched the surface on sites seen.

As soon as we entered the house, we were met by an open living room, big windows showing the beach below. We’re not quite on it, instead on a hill that showcases more of the ocean landscape.

The living room is attached to the kitchen, a massive island right in the middle of it all.

There are two hallways, one Kai went down and another opposite, and I’m assuming it holds two bedrooms each.

I decide to head to the right, so we can each have our own ‘side’ of the house, and start opening doors.

The first door is a bedroom with sea-foam green walls, shell paintings on the walls, a fishing net in the corner of the room, and lots of nautical memorabilia.

The next door is a linen closet stocked with sheets and extra towels, and I make note of the beach towels in case I need them later. I will definitely be spending some time by the water, so they will come in handy.

The door after leads into a bathroom, once again very nautical-themed, clearly supposed to be used by the person occupying the adjacent room.

The fourth door opens into a room that’s a lot more homey, a nice pale yellow with simplistic art. The bathroom is attached, the size of what I would assume the primary bedroom should be. There’s a massive king-sized bed in the middle, the linen soft under my fingers.

Finders keepers, I think as I set my suitcase along one wall and unzip it, taking everything out to hang and put into the dresser. We’ll be here for a little bit, so I might as well get comfortable while I can.

As soon as that’s done, I decide to explore the rest of the house.

The first door when I get to the other hall is already open, revealing a cream-colored room with splashes of a light blue—definitely similar to the room on my end of the house.

It looks like the other three doors are closed, so I make sure to knock on the first—although, if it’s anything like the other side, this should just be a closet.

When there’s no answer, I open the door and reveal a similar assortment of linens.

Which means next should be a bathroom, and, before I can even knock, I hear the water running.

What I don’t expect to hear is Kai—not just normal talking or singing or whatever, but whimpers.

Moans being held back and getting stuck in his mouth.

Like he’s pleasuring himself, but doesn’t want to get caught.

My feet are frozen in place, despite knowing I shouldn’t be invading something so intimate, but fuck, this is hot.

My cock hardens as I listen to the breathy sighs leaving him, and part of me wishes I could be in there with him, to watch what he likes, learn what makes him tick.

“Oh, God.” His moans get louder, heavy breathing cutting through the noise of the water running, louder than the pattering of the spray, and, fuck, I might need to copy and paste this idea.

The water cutting off has my head snapping back to attention; no, fuck this, dude. I can’t let my dick get in the way. Did you see him? Four words that held so much power to completely destroy the moment, breaking my heart and sending me running for the hills, determined to never let him in again.

The shower curtain rings clacking has my feet moving; I act as nonchalant as possible as I book it back to my side.

As much as I wish I could just ignore him, my cock is still hard as a damn rock, and I’m not sure I can ignore how fucking hot that was.

I just need to take care of it and be done.

At least, that’s what I tell myself.
