Chapter 36

CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX

KAI

They say if you love someone, let them go, and if they come back, they were always yours. If they don’t, they never were.

Jax lies in my arms—I can’t believe he came back. It might’ve been years, then hours, of us apart, but fate had other plans.

Now, this raven-haired man is curled up in my bed, in my arms, in my life, and I’m not sure how to be more thankful for the opportunity.

I’m sitting here in the dead of the night, quiet all around, just the soft breaths leaving Jax as he sleeps. I can’t help but imagine what else we have coming. Where else can we go? What new experiences do we get to do together?

Honestly, at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter what we do. As long as we’re together, that’s all I need. We’ll figure out the semantics later. We’ll decide how to move on with our lives and what steps to take.

But tonight? Tonight, I’m going to lay here and snuggle with the man of my dreams. The one who got away, and the one I got back.
