Chapter 8
SAYLOR
Warm lips brushed slowly up my bare shoulder, sending a wave of goose bumps across my skin. I sighed softly, still half lost in sleep. Levi’s arm was draped over my waist, and I pressed back against the solid heat behind me. Then I felt the unmistakable press of his hard-on against my butt.
Every delicious memory from last night came rushing back, and my cheeks filled with heat. I was blushing so hard I could feel it burning down my neck and across my chest.
Levi’s lips curved into a smile against my skin, not missing my reaction. He placed another kiss just below my ear, his voice still rough with sleep when he rasped, “Suddenly shy on me, baby?”
I turned my head to look up at him. His brown eyes were warm with amusement, but they heated when I puffed out my bottom lip in an exaggerated pout. “Are you really going to tease me about blushing?”
“Sorry, baby.” He brushed his lips against mine. “Just surprised you can after the way you were moaning my name and digging your nails into my back last night.”
I groaned in embarrassment and tried to hide my face against his chest, but he wouldn’t let me. His fingers caught my chin, tilting my face back up to his.
“Don’t hide from me.” The pad of his thumb swiped against my flushed cheek. “Last night was fucking amazing, Saylor. You were perfect. Best night of my life.”
His sincere words melted away the last of my nerves. The shyness was still there, but now it mixed with a glowing happiness that practically bubbled out of me.
I reached up and traced my fingers along his jaw, enjoying the scrape of his beard against my skin. “Yeah?”
“Abso-fucking-lutely.” He leaned down and captured my mouth in a deep kiss that left me breathless when he finally lifted his head again. “No regrets?”
Even though my body ached in places I hadn’t known were possible and we hadn’t used any protection, my answer was still easy. “None.”
“I’m glad, baby.”
Levi’s fingers traced lazy patterns along my hip as we lay tangled together. Normally, I spent my Sunday mornings running errands since my weekdays were so busy, but I felt like I could happily stay here like this forever.
After a comfortable stretch of silence, he murmured, “I’m racing tonight at Brake Point Run. I want you there with me, but I’ll understand if you can’t since you have to be at work so early tomorrow morning.”
I didn’t even have to think about where I wanted to be. A grin spread across my face as I nodded. “I’ll be there. I wouldn’t miss it.”
“Good.” His eyes lit up, and I loved that he never seemed to even try to hide how he was feeling. “Knowing you’re in the stands watching me is gonna have me half hard on the bike the whole damn night.”
I burst out laughing, even as fresh heat rushed to my cheeks. “Levi! Is that going to make it hard to race?”
He chuckled, the sound low and wicked as he rolled me halfway beneath him. “Nah. It’ll just make me want to finish that much faster so I can get you back here and celebrate after I win.”
His hand slid down to squeeze my butt, his meaning crystal clear. I blushed even harder, but I couldn’t stop smiling.
“So confident,” I teased even though I loved it.
“Damn straight.” He tugged the sheet lower, his gaze darkening as he followed the trail of pink down my chest. “But first, we should start our day off right.”
“With ideas like that, you’re definitely this teacher’s favorite.”
“I better be,” he growled before leaning down to kiss me until I clung to his shoulders and melted into the mattress.
Three orgasms later, and I had a whole new way I wanted to start every morning. And the rest of my Sunday until it was time to head to the race.
After how much fun I had last night, I was way less nervous walking into Brake Point Run this time around.
And much more confident in the skintight jeans and tank Rain had dropped off at the clubhouse for me since I hadn’t wanted to wear the same outfit two days in a row, and Levi had kept me quite busy in bed all day.
He led me toward the pit area this time, and his hand stayed on my lower back. Then he kept me tucked tightly against his side as we chatted with a few of his club brothers while we waited for his race to start.
“Hey, Century. Isn’t it a little early to bring Saylor to a race you’re actually in?” Torque teased. “What if you lose, and she decides to upgrade to a better rider?”
Kane shook his head with a sigh, and Edge muttered, “You’d think the single guys would learn.”
Levi tugged me even closer as he glared at Torque. “Not gonna happen.”
Torque quirked a brow. “Which part?”
“Both,” Levi growled.
“Have you forgotten how Century earned his road name?” Kane asked.
“Fair point,” Torque conceded with a shrug.
Tilting my head back, I asked, “Why do I feel like there’s a story I should know?”
“I’m just fast on my bike, baby.”
Edge snorted. “Fast as in he makes hitting a century look fucking easy.”
“Hitting a century?” I echoed, my brow wrinkling.
“Going a hundred on my motorcycle.” My eyes widened at Levi’s explanation, and he quickly added, “And only under certain conditions, baby.”
“Hell, in MotoGP races, bikes hit top speeds exceeding 225 miles per hour.”
His unhelpful comment earned Torque glares from all of the Redline Kings within earshot. He lifted his hands in a gesture of surrender and mumbled, “Gotta go take care of…something.”
While I was still trying to wrap my head around that extremely high number, one of the officials called out for the next group of racers to head toward the staging lines.
Levi turned to me and leaned in close, his lips brushing my ear as he murmured, “Don’t worry, baby. I know what I’m doing.”
“You better make it across that line safe and sound.” I pressed my palms against his broad chest. “Or I’m not going to be happy.”
“Got a celebration with you to look forward to,” he reminded me before cupping the back of my neck and kissing me until I was too breathless to say anything else.
Then he gave my hip one last squeeze, smirked, and headed off toward the staging area.
Still buzzing, I wandered away from the pits to find a better vantage point where I could see the whole track. The excitement in the air was contagious, and I couldn’t stop smiling as I watched Levi climb onto his motorcycle.
Knowing how fast they might go, my heart picked up speed right along with them. When the bikes lurched forward, the roar that exploded around me was deafening. Levi shot ahead like a bullet, leaning low over his bike as he fought for position.
“Go, Levi!” I shouted, gripping the rail in front of me until my knuckles turned white. “You’ve got this!”
Every time he gained ground, my stomach flipped with a mix of pride and nerves. Watching tonight felt so different because my Levi was out there. I cheered louder than I ever had in my life, jumping and screaming his name as he dueled for the lead down the final straightaway.
When he crossed the finish line first, I cheered at the top of my lungs. “Yes! That’s my man!”
Riding the high of Levi’s win, I weaved through the crowd toward the pit area with a big smile on my face until three large, intimidating bikers stepped directly into my path. They cut off any easy way around them, boxing me in near the fence.
One of them smirked down at me. “Well, well. Look who it is. Sutton.”
I froze, completely thrown. “No, you have the wrong person. I’m not—”
“Cut the shit,” the guy to my left snapped, cutting me off before I could finish. “We know exactly who you are. You got real close to Century just like you were supposed to. He made sure of that last night, didn’t he?”
My heart hammered against my ribs. “No, seriously, I’m not Sutton. My name is Saylor. You’ve got the wrong girl—”
The man to my right stepped closer. “We want the intel. Hand it over. Now.”
I blinked in confusion. “What intel? I have no idea what you’re talking about. Please, I’m telling you—”
“Stop bullshitting us,” the first guy growled. “You know what the consequences are if you don’t pay up. Don’t make this harder than necessary, Sutton.”
I took a shaky step back, panic rising fast. “I’m not her! I swear I’m not—”
The scariest of the three moved forward like he was about to grab me.
Before the man could touch me, Levi suddenly stepped between us, his body radiating fury. “Back the fuck up. Now.”
Kane, Edge, Nitro, and a few more brothers quietly surrounded me, forming a solid wall of protection. The rival bikers glanced around, clearly realizing they were outnumbered.
The first man sneered, backing up a step. “This isn’t over, Century. Not by a long shot. She owes us.”
“You’re playing a dangerous game,” another one added before they turned and disappeared into the crowd.
Kane spoke quietly to Edge without taking his eyes off the retreating men. “Call Jax. Tell him to get eyes on those motherfuckers before they get too far. Dig up everything you can.”
As soon as they were gone, Levi turned and pulled me into his arms. His hands ran over my shoulders and down my arms, checking for any injuries. “You okay, baby? Did they touch you?”
I shook my head, still trembling as I clung to his shoulders. “I’m okay. But my evil twin has struck again.”
“What do you mean?” Kane asked, looking completely unfazed by what had just happened.
I explained some of the crap Sutton had put me through—like stealing my identity and ruining my credit.
Then I told them everything the bikers had said.
I had no idea what any of it meant, but I caught a look in Levi’s eyes that made me think the pieces were clicking together in his head.
He clearly understood more about what was going on than I did.
I pulled back just enough to look up at him. “Do you know what they were talking about?”
Levi cupped my face with both hands, his thumbs gently brushing my cheeks. “Don’t worry. The club will handle this shit. Nobody is getting anywhere near you again. I promise.”
