M y arms are wrapped around Caleb’s neck as we dance together at Jade and Madden’s reception, which is now taking place at Jack’s Bar. I apologized to Jade for having my moment on her day, and she brushed me off almost immediately. She’s just as happy for me as I am for her.
I’m engaged. We are engaged.
I’m going to marry Caleb Randall, and somehow, I always knew that. Even when we were at our worst, arguing and screaming at each other, breaking up, I knew I would someday marry this man. I was destined to be Mrs. Caleb Randall from the very first moment I met him.
“I love you,” he murmurs against my ear. “We are going to be the happiest married couple in Hollis.”
“Or the craziest.”
“We have one thing going for us.”
“And what’s that?”
“We absolutely know how to make up.”
His voice is husky, full of desire, and I can feel how hard he is pressed to my belly. Suddenly, I’m ready to blow this damn reception and find somewhere private. I’m learning I enjoy happy sex as much as I do makeup sex.
The music comes to a stop, and although we stop dancing, I stay close to Caleb’s side. I know the same thoughts ran through his mind, and he’s doing the best he can not to throw me over his shoulder and carry me out of here. Trust me, he’s pulled that shit before!
“Just wait until we start planning your wedding,” Jade beams, coming up to me. She engulfs me in a hug. “I am so happy for you!”
“I’ll be stealing your idea. Jack’s field will work perfectly fine for us.”
“We’ll start a trend!” Jade says, laughing, then turns to Caleb. “Now, you just have to get a ring on this girl’s finger!”
“I will,” he assures her. “I have the perfect one in mind.”
“Oh, is that so? Cause it seemed to me that your proposal was a little spur of the moment.”
“I admit, it was a little spur of the moment. But I always knew I was going to marry you one day, Case.”
And this is why we work. Despite everything we’ve been through, the fact that we love each other hasn’t changed.
