Chapter 9
-:- CHAOS -:-
Victoria steps into the kitchen as I’m plating the pancakes I’ve made. She certainly looks impressed, I think to myself.
“Morning, Vicky. Take a seat. I have pancakes and coffee for you. Pain meds and water on the table ready for you, too.”
“Good morning and thank you.” Victoria takes a seat, takes the meds with a swallow of water and then has a sip of coffee.
“We need a new couch, or I’ll sleep with you because that old couch is a nightmare to sleep on. My back was screaming this morning when I decided to give in and get off the fucking thing,” I grumble.
Victoria doesn’t comment on the sleeping arrangements part of the situation, but she has something on her mind from the blush that flows up her cheeks.
Victoria gives a little cough, then speaks, “I rent the apartment fully furnished, so the couch has to stay. Anyway, what are you doing today? Any plans?” I know she has asked that so it changes the subject of sleeping arrangements.
“I want us to have a conversation. I’ll tell you about myself and you can tell me more about yourself.” I place a plate in front of Victoria, and she doesn’t take but a minute to dig in.
Victoria’s phone rings, and she quickly grabs it from the counter where she’d left it last night. Answering it immediately, I hear her say, “Bethy, are you okay?”
“Yes, but I’m running. I have the emergency funds I saved, and I left everything behind. I only grabbed the small weekender I packed with you before you left.” Victoria has put the call on speaker so I can hear what is being said.
“Make your way to me. Keep moving in different directions, not straight to me. Is Art after you?” Victoria asks and closes her eyes when the feeling of panic seems to overwhelm her. “Did you check for tracking bugs?”
“The Jeep had one under the hood, but I left it because I wasn’t taking the Jeep anyway. I even left my watch and jewelry because I didn’t know if any of that would be bugged. As I said, all I have is the weekender we packed, and the envelope with the emergency funds.”
“Okay, Bethy. Don’t let anyone see the envelope.
If you need money, take some out when you are in a restroom.
That way, nobody will see it and then mug you for it.
” Victoria rubs the back of her neck, then seems to have a bright idea.
She looks at me and sees I’m obviously listening.
“Chaos, can you get my friend, Bethy? Or get someone to get her?”
Nodding, I hold out my hand for the phone. “Bethy, this is Chaos. Give me all the information you can, and I’ll make sure you are picked up and brought here.”
I get the information I need and then close out the call. I take out my phone and contact Wings, giving him the information I have, and he agrees he’ll fetch Bethy. I give him Bethy’s contact details and turn to Victoria.
“Wings is going to get Bethy and won’t let anything stop him. She’ll be with us soon, be confident in that knowledge.”
Sitting with Victoria as I’d planned, I open up about myself.
“I was in the service, something I never speak of. What happened, happened, and nothing can change any of it. I am more than happy that my team brothers are with me now and we all get to live our lives.” I swallow to bury some of the feelings that I don’t want to surface.
“I can easily admit that I love being a club brother since being here with the MC. I love working at the range and helping anyone who needs it. On the whole, my life is good, but I’ve messed around with too many women, and I hope you can see past that. ”
“We don’t know each other, Chaos. You telling them at the hospital I was your girlfriend was a nice thing for you to do.
I understand that, and I really do like the people who are coming to see me.
They are great fun and I can see they love you dearly.
As for the previous women in your past, well they have nothing to do with me.
Unless they get in my face that is, then it’s a different thing.
” I give Chaos a serious look, then continue.
“Can I ask if you are serious about us wanting to get to know each other?”
“Of course, I am. I want to know all about what happened that day. Then your past because I know you are running, but I want to know about your family, your history.” I sit closer and take her hand.
“I think you are special. I love everything about you I’ve learned so far, but I agree we need to know each other better. Can we start that now?”
Victoria looks at me and smiles, “Okay, let’s do that.”
I explained a little about my service years and about the range. How I came to the MC and my life in general. It’s basic at best, but I’m mostly a what you see is what you get kinda guy.
“I would like to visit the range. I’m not a novice when it comes to firearms and would like to improve my skills,” Victoria adds, and I give her a huge smile.
“I can help you. Winter will butt her nose in I’m sure, because she teaches most of the women from the club.
” I grin at her right before shocking her.
“As far as the club is concerned you are my woman, my Ol’ Lady, which is the same as wife.
You will be respected and protected. I’m sure Kya will contact you soon and have you in the girl gang.
Oh, she’ll ask if you are getting a bike or a trike, too. ”
Victoria blinks, then grins, which turns into a huge smile. “Well, I can ride a bike but not sure I can afford one at this time.”
“If you want a bike, I’ll get you one.” I don’t have to think twice about it. My woman wants a hog, she’ll get one.
“No, I’ll earn it. I have money. I just don’t know if I can get it without someone noticing. I’ll get Delta and Specs to check if anyone other than me has eyes on my accounts. I don’t want to risk touching them until I’m sure.”
I give Victoria a look that says I’m going to look into it. “I’m going after this fucker. He’s done enough damage.” I give Victoria’s hand a squeeze. “I need to get to speak to some of the brothers. Will you be okay? Jack will be here soon to sit with you.”
“Yes, Jack is lovely. He is easy to spend the day with. I think Nyx said something about coming to visit.” Victoria gives me a huge smile.
“Okay, that’ll be nice. If she brings the old dears with her just watch them because they are trouble.” I chuckle because we have all seen what they can get up to.
Jack arrives, and I quickly go to meet up with Specs and BS at the clubhouse. Specs is watching the street cameras near the family’s home, and it is odd that Corey has not been seen.
“Anything we need to be aware of?” BS asks.
“I would love to know what’s going on inside the house, but there’s nothing that I can tell you.
They are inside and I’ve not seen them at all.
No sign of the kid.” Specs looks at us and pauses before adding, “I reckon you should take Aaron with you. He was the one you spoke to, and he’s involved already because of that. ”
BS takes out his phone and steps out of the office. “If Aaron goes with us, we’ll have to be careful as it makes it official. You know we’ll have our hands tied if we find something fucked in that place.”
“I don’t think so. I reckon Aaron is like Forest with the way they think.
They’ve seen too much over the years, although he’s younger.
He’ll do what is necessary, and that means burying some asshole.
” Specs turns back to his keyboard and when BS steps back inside, he gives me a nod. Which means Aaron is in.
Standing in front of the house an hour later, I tap the earpiece and ask if Specs can hear me, to which he responds in the positive.
I look at BS and Aaron and they are both looking like they are as confused as I am.
The house is quiet, and no one is in the garden.
No lights on in the place, although maybe that isn’t surprising as it’s not late enough in the day for that if I pay attention to it.
“I’m going around the back. Come on, Chaos, we may need you to live up to your name.” Aaron smirks, and I follow him into the yard and calmly walk around to the back of the house.
Nothing is out of place, although the yard is a wreck and needs some time and attention. Aaron gives me a shrug and I think, ‘Fuck it.’
Walking up to the back door, I hammer on it, shouting, “Open up, Federal Agents! Open up!” Nothing for a moment so I kick the door shouting again, “FBI! Open the door!”
Aaron is cursing behind me, but I give him my best grin right as I take two steps back from the door. Shaking out my shoulders, I lift my leg and kick the door hard. It flies open, and I surge forward. Seeing the asshole who was at the river, I snarl, “FBI, don’t try anything stupid fucker.”
I inwardly smirk when he holds his hands up and gives in without a fight. The woman, who I presume is the mother rushes into the kitchen and gasps.
“FBI, where is your son?” I snarl.
“I, I, I…” she stutters.
“For fuck's sake, Aaron, go find the kid.” I stand with my hands on my hips, and I see the moment he realizes I’m not wearing an FBI uniform, but an MC kutte.
His hands drop, and he charges, but I’m ready, and they don’t call me Chaos for nothing.
I slam my fist into his face, hearing a grunt at what must have been a painful hit.
I don’t wait for him to recover. I go into my one-two routine, turn and elbow him in the side of his head, then swiftly spin again and drop low, punching him in his jewels, taking him down to his knees.
Back on my feet I kick him in the head, and he’s out of it.
Turning I give the woman a snarl as she holds a knife out in front of her. “You want to go there? Really? I can get that from you in two seconds and if I have to do that, you’ll be gutted the second after. I have no conscience about gutting you.”
That doesn’t faze this bitch. She lunges forward, lifts her arm to stab me when a loud bang sounds. The woman drops before I even recognize what happened, but Aaron steps forward with a gun in his hand.
“Fucking bitch…” Aaron snarls. Taking out his phone, he makes a call to Forest I guess, as he tells what he’s just done, and I see the man starting to come around, so I kick him hard in the head again.
A small laugh sounds, and turning I see the kid is standing in the door to the hallway, and he doesn’t look as though he gives a shit his mother is dead and I just kicked the shit outta his father.
“He’s coming with us,” Aaron snarls. “You his uncle? Chaos, are you his uncle? I’ll deal with all this shit with Forest.”
When I realize what he’s asking I quickly agree. “Yeah, Corey is coming with me because I’m his uncle.” Nodding like a fucking bobblehead, I must look ridiculous. Then I smirk, kick the asshole again, and give Corey a huge smile. “Come on, Corey, let’s go home.”
Forest arrives with more deputies. I just walk away with Corey, while telling him about where he’s going, and hoping that Victoria will be okay with having a kid turn up at her place.
Arriving at the apartment after shopping for a few things for Corey, because honestly, we walked away with nothing.
I got some essentials like pajamas, underwear, pants, t-shirts, and toiletries.
I’m sure Victoria will help me sort him out properly.
One thing that is playing across my mind is the fact that I’m going to need a house.
I can’t have Victoria and Corey in an apartment. We need a proper home.
Tapping my chin, I think about what happens next, but give in when Corey asks if he can have something to eat.
We place his things in the corner of the living room and then I send him to shower and change his filthy clothes.
While Corey is sorting himself out, I order food and wait for Victoria to come home.
Seeing the note on the kitchen counter stating she’s gone to the clubhouse with Nyx has me sigh a little in relief, because nothing can happen to her at the clubhouse. She’ll be fine, bored more than likely. Little did I know what was going on!
