Chapter 8 #3
My legs gave out as Bishop collapsed over me. With his face buried in my neck, his breathing was ragged as he kissed me over and over again, telling me my pussy was so fucking good. “Damn, this has been one hell of a weekend,” I panted, caressing his sweaty back.
Knowing it was all coming to an end made me want to hold on to the moment a little longer.
I hadn’t expected any of this when I planned my divorce party.
I definitely hadn’t expected Bishop. But as crazy and unexpected as the weekend had been, I wouldn’t have changed a damn thing.
He had made me feel good in ways that went far beyond sex, and this weekend had been worth every second.
He shifted his weight and rolled off of me, glancing my way. “You need anything before I dip? Food? A wheelchair?”
I laughed and smacked his chest lightly. “You got jokes. No, thanks. I’m so good.”
“Just sayin’.” He sounded so smug I wanted to laugh again.
We lay there a little longer, then he helped me stand up.
My legs were shaky, and I had to hold onto his arm to keep my balance.
He walked me upstairs to the bathroom and turned on the water.
We took our time washing each other, laughing quietly whenever his hands wandered somewhere they didn’t need to be.
By the time we stepped out, I was clean, relaxed, and already wishing we had more time.
I didn’t want or need any clothes. I just wanted to lay my ass down. When he was dressed, Bishop helped me into bed, pulling the covers over me. “Thank you,” I said quietly.
“Stop thankin’ me,” he said. “I’m just makin’ sure you straight. I know you ‘bout to knock out.”
Already yawning, I covered my mouth. “I definitely am. I feel like I could sleep for a week.”
He leaned down and kissed me softly. When he pulled back, he looked at me for a long moment. I felt a little pang in my chest, but I pushed it down. This was always how it was going to end. “I gotta head out,” he told me. “Got some shit I need to handle before tomorrow.”
“I know,” I sighed heavily. “This weekend was… everything.”
“Yeah, shit was smooth. I had a dope time wit’ you, beautiful.”
“Dope, huh?” I teased.
“Hell yeah.” He licked his lips. “This was what it was supposed to be. A dope ass weekend. Nothin’ more, nothin’ less.”
“Right. Just… sex.”
“Exactly. Makin’ you feel appreciated and desired because you are.
” He went over to the dresser, and I watched him grab his phone and keys, then he turned back to look at me.
“You know my bookin’ info is still on the app,” he reminded me, walking back over to the bed.
“If you ever need a private chef again.”
“Just a private chef?” I asked, smiling.
“Yeah. You know, someone to cook up whatever you need. Make sure you fully satisfied.”
I laughed because I knew exactly what he meant. “You definitely handled more than cooking this weekend.”
“Damn right I did. But for real, if you ever want me to come through and cook for you, just book me. I gotchu.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.”
He leaned down and kissed me one more time. It was slow and deep and full of everything we weren’t saying out loud. When he pulled away, he looked at me with those dark eyes that had been driving me crazy all weekend. “Take care of yo’self, beautiful.”
“You too, Bishop,” I said. “Good luck with the restaurant.”
“I appreciate that, and good luck wit’ everything. You gon’ be aight. Just remember you one hell of a woman, Minnesa.”
“I know.”
He stood there for another moment and then turned and walked out of the room.
I heard his footsteps going down the stairs, then the front door open and close.
I lay there in bed listening to the sound of his car starting and then pulling out of the driveway.
The house felt quiet without him. I felt a little sad, but I also felt grateful.
This weekend had given me something I didn’t even know I needed.
I reached for my phone on the nightstand and opened the group chat with my friends. I typed out a quick message. “This weekend has forever changed me. Brunch tomorrow?” The responses came in immediately. Heart emojis, fire emojis, and messages hyping me up. I smiled and set my phone back down.
I closed my eyes and thought about Bishop one more time.
I thought about his smile, his hands, and the way he had looked at me like I truly was the most beautiful woman in the world.
I thought about how he made me feel seen and wanted.
I thought about the way he had reminded me that I deserved good things and to feel good.
Because isn’t that what this weekend was all about? Choosing myself and learning how to live without guilt, fear, or obligation? Damn right. It was about celebrating the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
I drifted asleep with a smile on my face, knowing that I was going home as a different woman in the morning.
A woman who knew how to take risks and who wasn’t afraid to go after what the fuck she wanted.
A woman who was finally free to do as she pleased…
even if that meant booking a private chef to come blow my back out. It was well deserved.
