Chapter 21

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

Me

Merry Christmas, Harlow. I hope you had a nice day and maybe even got a nice gift or two?

Harlow

Merry Christmas, Ryan! It’s been fine, a typical Christmas holiday with my parents and their busy social calendars. What about you? Get anything good?

Me

Well, now that you ask, I did in fact get two awesome gifts.

Harlow

Oh, yeah? What’d you get?

Me

Before our Mama passed, she had a few pieces of jewelry that had broken over the years, but she kept them in her jewelry box.

The girls both got pieces from her before she left us, but the boys didn’t.

Liam took some small diamonds from the broken pieces and had necklaces made for the brothers—with the same Cavalry emblem that’s on my basketball court.

I guess Jack had a legit graphic designer make it and he did not make it in clip art, despite my initial response to it.

Harlow

That’s really sweet. Will you wear it?

Me

Absolutely. It’s really cool, actually—just don’t tell Jack that.

Harlow

What’s the other gift?

Me

My nieces gave me a number one uncle coffee mug in front of my other brothers.

Harlow

lol what?! I could see a few of them doing that…

Me

Ok, maybe it was from myself, but the gift tag said from my nieces :)

Harlow

You guys and your jokes lol!

Me

What about you?

Harlow

My favorite gift was a certificate for a spa day at my favorite spot in Nashville.

Me

You got another one?

Harlow

No, just the one from you.

Me

And that was your favorite? I love that, Lo.

Harlow

It was incredibly thoughtful and honestly the best. Thank you again.

Me

My pleasure. When do you get back to TN?

Harlow

Two days.

Me

I’ll see you at the airport.
