Chapter 7 Xyleek
Chapter Seven
Xyleek
Finishing up my sketch of the engagement ring I wanted designed for Drek, I closed out of the app and placed my iPad down.
I sat up and watched her swim laps from one end of the pool to the next effortlessly.
My baby loved the water, and I loved to watch her in it.
Drek’s body was naturally crazy, so seeing it in a bathing suit made my tongue hang and my tail wag.
The sun was shining on her beautiful brown skin just right, and every time it caught the diamonds around her ankles, it made me think about putting her feet in my mouth.
That was the thing about Dreka; no matter how long she had been mine, every little thing about her still drove me crazy.
It made no sense how bad I had fucked shit up with us and all of that for what?
Just for me to still end up back in front of her, on my knees begging for another chance I really didn’t deserve.
Dragging my hand down my face, I thought back to all the chaos I caused for both of us. I did that shit for so long and so well that I forgot that just being with Drek was a different type of peace on its own that I took for granted.
She swam up to the edge of the pool, resting her head on her arms and locking her eyes on me. “Why you look like that?”
I licked my lips at the way the water dripped off her face. “Like what?”
“Like you’re thinking too hard about something.”
Moving over to the edge of the pool, I squatted in front of her, gripping her chin between my fingers. “Thinking about how bad I fucked us up and how many times I let you slip outta my hands.”
“I didn’t slip, Xy. You threw me. Hard as fuck.” Pain, sadness, and something else that I couldn’t put my finger on passed through her eyes.
“Yeah,” I bit the corner of my lip, feeling like a dick. “I did but never again,” pulling her face close to mine, I softly kissed her lips. “I love you, Angel.”
“I love you, too,” she whispered the words I’d been waiting to hear her say for over two years.
Whenever I told her I loved her, she normally didn’t say a word to me.
While she was dating Akil and still fuckin’ on me, she let it slip a few times during sex, but that’s when I was balls deep in her walls.
It didn’t count then. Hearing it now, it damn sure counted and meant more to me now than the first time she said it when we were kids.
“Say it again,” I demanded, brushing my thumb over her bottom lip.
“No,” she giggled, trying to pull away from me.
Getting a grip on her arms, I pulled her out of the pool while she laughed. “Say it again, Angel.”
“I already said it!”
“I ain’t hear you,” I smirked, sitting her on the pool chair and leaning over her. “Say it one more time for me, ma. Please.”
She tucked her lips, putting her pretty dimples on display while shaking her head.
For a moment we just stared at each other in complete silence with me tracing her face like I didn’t already have it committed to memory.
I swear if someone blindfolded me, lined me up in front of five women, and told me to pick out Dreka just by how she felt, I’d be able to pick her out every damn time.
“I love you,” she repeated cautiously.
Dropping my lips against hers, I slipped my tongue inside of her mouth and sloppily kissed her.
My hands caressed her wet skin and as bad as I wanted to taste and be inside of her, I knew we didn’t have that kind of time.
We were staying at my vacation property in the Hamptons, but we had an event to attend in Manhattan, which meant it was gon’ take us closer to three hours to get there.
The Diamond Gala was an annual charity event hosted in August that pulled every heavyweight in the jewelry game under one roof.
From street entrepreneurs like me to the quiet billionaires that owned half of New York, the gala was where major deals were solidified.
More than just a charity event, The Diamond Gala provided a legitimate cover for money laundering and went off without a hitch every year.
The gala was in its tenth year, and my company was the headlining sponsor for the event.
I had a custom canary yellow, twenty-two carat diamond necklace that I named The Angel’s Heart specifically for Drek.
She had no idea about it, but she’d find out when it was announced because it was the piece that would close out the auction as the starting bidding price was ten million.
“C’mon,” I stood up with my dick standing, too. Removing my phone from my pocket, I checked the time just to make sure I couldn’t squeeze out an extra twenty minutes. “I want to bend you over and feel them warm walls squeezing my dick, but we can’t be late to the gala.”
She got out of the chair and on her knees immediately, pulling my shorts down to my ankles. “Feel my warm mouth then,” she swirled her tongue around the head, making me clench my teeth together. “You know all I need is ten minutes, tops.”
I couldn’t argue with her because she was right.
Drek could have me nutting in one minute flat if she really wanted to.
She was the only woman that could. We stared at each other while she gobbled me up, and I fell in love with her a little more.
Leaning my head back, I was thankful in that moment that there were trees lining the backyard, but there was at least a mile between my crib and my neighbors anyway.
“Shit, Drek,” I groaned when she started humming. The vibrations were creating a pattern that my heart was starting to match. “Fuck, I love you.”
My phone ringing in my hand was the only thing that pulled my attention away from the nut I was about to bust. Not recognizing the number, I silenced it, placed my hand on the back of her head, and stroked her mouth slow and hard before picking up speed.
With our eyes locked on one another, I started to release in her mouth while my phone started ringing again.
“Mmmm shitttttt,” I hummed lowly, my toes damn near gripping the edge of my Gucci slides as the aftershock of the orgasm shot through my body.
“That mouth so fuckin’ perfect,” taking a step back, I reached down to help her to her feet.
“I love you, Rahdreka Chantal Lombardo,” I professed, kissing her deeply before pulling my shorts up.
“Not the government,” she laughed.
When my phone started ringing for the third time, I figured it had to be someone who knew me. Instructing Drek to go inside since her glam team would be there in less than five minutes, I answered after she walked away.
“Hello?”
“Hi, is this Xyleek Chambers?”
Pulling the phone away from my ear, I looked at the number again but didn’t recognize it. “Who’s this?”
“I’m calling from Riverside Regional Medical Center—”
“Is my sister okay? Is my mom okay?” Those were the first two people that came to mind being that I was on their emergency contact list.
“Um, I suppose so. I’m actually calling about Gabriae Kingston.”
Scratching my jaw, I glanced towards the house to make sure Drek had gone inside. “I don’t understand. I don’t have anything to do with Gabriae.”
“You’re listed as her next of kin here in her medical records. Mr. Chambers, Gabriae has been in a serious car accident, and she’s in critical condition.”
“How critical is critical?”
“We have her stabilized for now, but she’s already undergone one surgery. She may need another tomorrow if the doctor doesn’t like the way her x-rays look over the next few hours. She’s currently in ICU,” she divulged information that really didn’t have shit to do with me.
Blowing out an aggravated sigh, there was no question in my mind about what I was going to do.
Drek was my first priority. There was no way in hell I was gon’ walk in the crib and tell her some shorty I used to fuck had me listed as her next of kin like I was her husband.
That was not gon’ end well. It blew my mind that Gab even had me listed in her medical paperwork at all.
I fucked with her but having me as next of kin was some nut shit. Even for her.
“There’s nothing I can do about that right now. I’m out of town, and I didn’t even know Gab had me listed as of her next of kin. There’s no one else you can call?” I looked toward the house one more time.
“No. You’re the only person listed.”
That confused the fuck out of me. “Um…well look, do what y’all need to do to keep her alive, but I can’t come up there.”
I hung up and took a minute to get myself in check.
I was irritated, and the moment Drek sensed that, she was gon’ ask a million questions.
Leaving Gabriae in the hospital alone might’ve sounded heartless, but I’d rather be that than without Drek ever again.
Snatching up my iPad, I dropped my phone in my pocket and headed inside where Drek was letting the team I’d hired inside the crib.
“You okay?” she asked as I attempted to walk by her and go upstairs.
Turning to face her with a slight smile, I nodded once. “Knowing that I’m gon’ have you by my side tonight has me feeling more than okay, Angel. I feel fuckin’ invincible,” I pecked her lips. “’Cause there ain’t shit I can’t do when you’re in my corner.”
She started smiling so hard her eyes almost disappeared.
“There’s the smile I love to see,” I tapped underneath her chin. “The real smile. Go get dolled up, baby. Ima see you in a minute.”
“Okay.”
“Aye,” I called out after she started walking away.
Her head turned over her shoulder as she stopped mid-stride. “Yes?”
“I love you until forever stops.”
I made that shit up when we were in high school.
It was my way of letting her know that my love for her would never end because forever never stopped and neither did my need for her.
Back then, when we used to say it, it was just some cute shit but somewhere between now and then, it had become a promise.
A promise that I’d broken one too many times.
Cheating on Drek told her I didn’t need her and that wasn’t true at all.
I needed her like a baby needed its mother.
I just did fucked up shit sometimes, but I intended to keep the promise this time.
Before I could make it up the stairs, the doorbell went off, and I knew it was my barber and stylist. Doubling back, I let them in, and then we headed up to my suite so I could get ready for the night.
