Chapter Three #2
“Just tell me that you will give me a chance; that you will stop thinking so damn much about numbers and what I may or may not want from you. I just want you—whatever else happens is fine with me. Say yes to me, Lorna.” She knew that he was right—she was fighting a losing battle.
She wanted him with every fiber of her being.
She wasted the last seven months worrying about what other people would think about her with a younger man.
She thought that she couldn’t be enough for Sawyer.
Well, she was done with all her overthinking.
She was going to go after what she wanted and find a version of happiness that worked for them both.
“Yes,” she breathed. That seemed to be all the approval that Sawyer was waiting for. He stood, his chair falling back and hitting the floor, causing them both to laugh. He carried her up the stairs to her room as if she weighed nothing and pushed the door open.
“Is this okay?” he asked between kisses. She nodded, not able to find her voice. She was consumed with pent-up need. All she could think about was getting them both naked.
“I have condoms in my side drawer,” she whispered.
Sawyer chuckled, “Good to know, honey.” He pulled her t-shirt up her body as he sat her on the edge of her bed, leaving her half-naked and feeling a little exposed.
She started to cover herself with her arms, but he pulled them back down to her sides.
“No hiding, Lorna.” His eyes were fierce, his need evident in the way that he took in every inch of her bare flesh.
“God, you are so fucking beautiful.” Lorna couldn’t help her smile.
She could feel his desire just from the way he watched her.
“Sawyer, I—” He gently cupped his hand over her mouth, stopping her from speaking.
“I need you to call me by my name, Lorna. Sawyer is the name my foster families and the Army called me. I want you to use my real name.” He looked at her so vulnerable and honest. She just wanted to pull him down into her arms and tell him that she wanted him, all of him.
She pulled his hand away from her mouth, ready to give him what he needed.
“Jonathan,” she whispered. Sawyer moaned at the sound of his name on her lips.
“No one else has ever called me that. Say it again.” She whispered his name over and over, pulling him down onto her body.
The more she said his name, the more he kissed and sucked her overly sensitive flesh into his hot mouth.
He was like a starving man finally getting what he needed, and he needed her.
She lost herself in every whispered praise and promise that he made as he kissed and licked his way down to her already drenched shorts.
He rolled them down her legs and pulled them free from her body, standing breathless between her legs.
“I need you, Lorna—so damn much,” he growled, pulling her to the edge of the bed.
He spread her legs, kissing her sensitive thighs until she could feel his hot breath on her wet mound.
She knew what he was about to do, but wasn’t quite prepared for the onslaught of emotions as he sucked her clit into his hot mouth.
She screamed out his name while Sawyer licked and nipped her sensitive folds.
She felt her release, and still, he didn’t stop.
The man was determined to completely wear her defenses down.
Just when she thought he was finished, she heard her nightstand drawer open and shut, followed by the crinkle of the condom wrapper.
He stood over her body; his eyes hooded with pleasure as he rolled the condom into place.
She thought that he was the sexiest man she had ever seen.
The way he looked at her lit a fire in her core that she had never felt before.
She was going to like saying yes to Jonathan Sawyer.
Sawyer stood above Lorna’s body. She was completely wrung out by the orgasms that he just gave her, and that made his inner caveman thump his chest. He wanted to claim her and mark her as his own.
He wanted to tell the world that she was his woman, but he knew that she wasn’t ready for that part of him.
Not yet. She would get to know just how protective and possessive he could be later. Right now, he just wanted to love her.
“I need to be inside of you, Lorna. Tell me that you want me. I need you with me.” She sat up, wrapped her body around his, and pulled him down on top of her.
“I want you inside of me now, Jonathan.” He moaned and thrust his cock into her already swollen pussy.
He almost lost himself but regained control, pulling almost completely out of her greedy opening.
He wanted to take his time and show her just how good they were together, but he also knew that it had been a while since he had been with a woman.
He wasn’t going to last very long being inside of Lorna.
“Jonathan.” Her breathy little whispers just about did him in. Hearing Lorna say his name was like an aphrodisiac. He wanted to do things to her that would make her scream out his name, and he didn’t want to stop.
“Honey, I’m going to come.” He felt his balls tighten as she wrapped her legs around his ass, pulling him closer into her body.
She wanted this as much as he did. She dug her heels into his ass, riding him hard, sending them both over the edge.
His body went limp, pinning her to the mattress.
She didn’t seem to mind as she ran her hands up and down his back.
He rolled them both to their sides, not wanting to crush her under his weight—she was so tiny compared to him.
“Lorna, that was—” he whispered.
“Amazing!” She finished his sentence, and he pulled her in for a quick, soft kiss. “Will you stay in my bed tonight, Jonathan?” He smiled at the way she emphasized his name. She knew exactly what she did to him every time he heard her say it. She was a quick study.
“Yes, Lorna. I will stay in your bed tonight. Hell, I want to be in your bed every night, but we can talk about that later. Stay here.” She watched as he walked to her bathroom to get rid of the condom.
He could get used to her looking at him that way, like she was hungry for more.
“Don’t move,” Sawyer said. He ran downstairs to the kitchen, warmed up their dinners again, and delivered them to Lorna in bed.
They ate their meals tangled up in each other naked in bed, and it was the most perfect date he ever had.
“Thank you for the perfect evening,” He said, pulling Lorna in for a kiss, enjoying the way she willingly fell into his arms.
“Well, perfect except for me bringing a stranger home and agreeing to go on a date with him.” Sawyer froze.
He almost forgot that little incident. Honestly, Joe was the whole reason that he had trouble sleeping and went looking for Lorna.
While she was in the shower, he did a little research on their new friend Joe.
As it turned out, Joe was there for Piper but not for an interview.
He sat up, pulling Lorna with him. They needed to have a chat, and she wasn’t going to like what he was about to tell her.
“I did a little digging on Joe while you were in the shower. First, you are not going on a fucking date with him or any man, ever again.” Lorna’s eyes widened at his statement, but he needed to get it all out before he dealt with them being a couple.
“I have a feeling that Joe is here to see Piper. I’m betting that he came into Scrumptious tonight hoping to run into her, but put two and two together and realized that you are her aunt.
Joe was the getaway driver.” Lorna gasped, and he pulled her onto his lap, wanting to comfort her.
“I had a feeling that he wasn’t just passing through. I was coming to find you tonight to tell you that you were probably right,” she admitted. Sawyer nodded his head.
“His brothers were the guys who shot Piper’s parents.
Joe only served for a few years since he just waited in the car.
He was just twenty-five years old, and his brothers admitted that he had no idea that they were even robbing the place.
He thought they ran into the convenience store for a pack of cigarettes.
He made a plea deal and only served three and a half years.
I think he is here to hurt Piper.” Lorna looked terrified.
Her lower lip trembled as she fought back her tears.
“My poor girl has been through so much already. Hasn’t Joe’s family done enough to her?” Sawyer pulled her closer, rubbing her back.
“And to you, honey. They did this to you, too. You lost your family and had to rearrange your life to take care of Piper. I won’t let Joe near either of you.” Lorna pulled back from him, suddenly panicked.
“We need to warn Piper.” She tried to stand up, but Sawyer pulled her back down into his lap. “I’ve already called Tag. He and Torren are on it. Their place is completely safe; I installed the security system myself.” Lorna seemed to relax a little.
“Well, we should alert the local authorities.” Sawyer laughed, kissing Lorna’s forehead.
“Baby, I am the local authorities, remember?” he teased.
“Yeah, well, you have been a little preoccupied. Are they going to catch him? What is the plan here?” Lorna was feisty when it came to protecting Piper, and Sawyer liked her fire.
“The plan is to let Joe make the first move. As of right now, he’s just a guy with a record, passing through town. We can’t charge him with anything because he hasn’t done anything wrong,” he said.
“But—” Sawyer kissed away her argument. The last thing he needed was for Lorna to direct her anger at him. He had other ways that she could work that off. He rolled her underneath his body and watched as her eyes flared—she seemed to understand his motives.
“Hey, you are trying to distract me.” Lorna swatted at his chest, but he didn’t budge.
“Yep, is it working?” She froze beneath him as if deciding what her next move would be.
She sighed. “Yeah, it’s working.” She wrapped her body around him and pulled him down for another kiss. Sawyer could get used to this new, easily distracted Lorna.
Joe stood outside the address that he found for Piper Flynn, now Piper Harrison.
He wasn’t told that she recently got married or that she moved.
Her very attractive Aunt Lorna now lived in the house with an oversized goon who was obviously in love with her.
Still, he couldn’t stay in this godforsaken town forever.
He needed to get back to New York and back to work.
Jobs were hard to come by when you had a record.
Most places saw that box checked on his application, and they automatically turned him down.
He took two weeks' leave from work, but it took him a week to drive to Colorado and find Harvest Ridge. He needed to get on with his plan and get back to his life. When he met Lorna, he thought that she was Piper. The picture that he was given was kind of blurry; the two women must look alike. Still, the plan was to find Piper, not her aunt, and he couldn’t go back home without finding the person responsible for putting him and his brothers away.
So, he would just have to find her and do what he set out to do.
He owed that to his brothers. Joe shivered in the cold wind that felt like it blew straight through him.
It started snowing, and he wished that things went more smoothly.
Now he needed to find a motel to stay in.
Tomorrow, he would go on this little date with Lorna, and one way or the other, he would find where Piper was living.
He would have his meeting with her and finish what he came to do.
It was the only way his family could have some peace.
After all, there were only six weeks until Christmas, the season of miracles and new beginnings.
He was due for both. Joe’s phone chimed with a new text.
He exchanged numbers with Lorna just before leaving earlier.
Hey Joe, I just don’t think that I’m going to be able to make our date tomorrow. Family emergency. I hope you have a safe trip back home to the Big Apple.
So, the big goon boyfriend found a way to convince innocent little Lorna to cancel their date.
Joe sighed. He would just need to find another way to get to Piper.
His stay would have to be extended indefinitely because he didn’t come all this way for nothing.
Going home empty-handed wasn’t an option.
