By the time we untwined ourselves from each other, we were already late to the party, but I don’t care. I needed the closeness with her that we haven’t been able to have this past week. And it was everything. I’ve never felt so connected with someone the way I am with Fallon.
As I get dressed in my suit, I watch as she puts the sequined dress back on, a swell of emotion growing in my chest. She’s so fucking beautiful, and she’s mine.
I never thought I’d find someone like her, but I did, and I’ll never take that for granted.
I’ve wasted enough years of my life without her.
I’m going to enjoy every second I can with Fallon by my side.
“When we go home, I want you to move in with me.”
Fallon pauses and turns to look at me, her green eyes wide with surprise. “What?”
“I want you to live with me. Take a chance on me, baby. We only have one life. No do-overs.”
She stares at me, stunned, for a long moment before she finally blinks. I grab the strappy silver shoes that I picked out for her and kneel. She puts a hand on my shoulder as she lifts one foot and lets me put the platform heel on her.
“Yes,” she agrees as I concentrate on buckling the strap.
I look up at her and smile. “That’s my good girl.”
Her eyes shine with tears, but she’s grinning, and after I put the other heel on her, I rise and wrap her up in my arms.
“You’re beautiful,” I say when I step back and look at Fallon, noticing the way she’s glowing.
“And you’re handsome,” she compliments as she reaches up to adjust my bow tie.
“I love you,” I whisper into her ear.
She smiles and rests her head against my shoulder. “I love you too, Daddy.”
We hold each other for a long time, and then I take a step back and offer her my arm. “Shall we?”
“I can’t wait.”
Me neither. But I’m not thinking about the party.
I’m thinking about the rest of my life with Fallon.
