Rapper Ian McNabb, known as Supreme, is chasing platinum, not a relationship, until he meets Jrucilla “Jrue” Peterson, a blunt event planner who is not impressed by celebrity.

Jrue has no interest in a rapper with a stained past and enemies in the shadows; she is trying to raise her little brother and keep him from following their oldest brother into prison.

One meeting is enough for Supreme to decide she is different, and her resistance only makes him more determined to win her.
