Wade #2

Wade released her hand. “Sleep,” he ordered. She didn't move, but neither did he.

Then Harlow whispered, “I keep thinking about that kiss.”

Wade closed his eyes. “Don't.”

“Why not?” she asked.

“You know why,” he said.

“No, I know why you think we should wait,” she whispered. He opened his eyes, and Harlow shifted closer. “I'm not asking you to save me, Wade.”

“I know,” he breathed.

“I'm not asking you to make decisions for me,” she insisted.

“I know,” he whispered.

“And I'm not confused about Frank,” she promised. His jaw tightened at the man's name. “I never wanted him.”

“Harlow,” he said her name in warning.

“I wanted to kiss you tonight,” she said.

“I know,” he said.

“I chose that,” she promised. “And I'm choosing to be here with you now.” Wade stared at her. Everything inside him wanted to stop thinking and to take the permission she was offering and run with it, but Harlow deserved better than that.

“You've had the worst two days of your fucking life,” he growled.

“Probably,” she agreed.

“You're scared,” he pointed out.

“Yes, I am,” she said.

“You're worried about tomorrow,” he said.

“Yes, I am worried about tomorrow,” she agreed.

“And you still think this is a good idea?” he asked.

Her eyes held his. “I think you're the first man I've ever been around who keeps giving me reasons why I shouldn't sleep with him.”

Wade groaned. “That wasn't the right answer.”

She smiled, and it quickly faded. “I want you.” Fuck. Three words, and that was all it took. Wade lifted a hand and touched her cheek.

“Say it again tomorrow,” he said.

“What?” she asked.

“When the warehouse raid is over,” he said. “Say it then.”

Her expression fell. “Wade—”

“If you still want me tomorrow, I'm yours,” he promised.

She stared at him. “What if tomorrow doesn't go the way we want?” He knew exactly what she meant. What if Sarah wasn't alive? What if somebody got hurt? What if Wade didn't come back? Neither of them said it, but they were both thinking it.

Harlow moved closer until her forehead rested against his. “I don't want to spend tonight thinking about everything that could happen tomorrow.”

Wade's hand slid into her hair. “What do you want to think about?” he asked.

“You.” His control cracked—not completely, but enough. He kissed her slowly this time. It was nothing like the kiss at the clubhouse. There was no surprise, no audience, and no reason to stop after a few seconds.

Harlow's hand settled against his chest, and Wade kept the kiss gentle, giving her every opportunity to pull away, but she didn't. Instead, she moved closer. When they finally separated, she was breathing hard.

“So,” she whispered.

“So?” he asked.

“I still want you,” she admitted, smiling over at him.

“It's not tomorrow,” he reminded.

“Technicality,” she said.

Wade laughed against her mouth. “You're stealing my lines now?”

“Maybe.” He kissed her again. Harlow curled against him, and Wade wrapped an arm around her. For a while, that was all it was—kissing, touching, and learning each other without rushing toward anything.

Every time Harlow stiffened, Wade stopped. Every time he stopped, she made the choice about whether they continued, and every time, she pulled him back. Until eventually she whispered his name against his mouth and told him exactly what she wanted.

“I need you, Wade,” she begged as he kissed his way down her neck.

Wade searched her face one final time. “You sure?”

“Yes,” she whispered with no hesitation or fear. It was just him and Harlow now, and she was choosing him. Wade kissed her again, and this time, neither of them stopped.

She ran her hands over his chest and down his body, and he hissed out his breath. He loved the way that she looked him over. “You work out,” she said. It sounded like a cross between surprise and praise.

“You sound surprised,” he said.

She shrugged. “I just didn’t know what you had hiding under your T-shirts every day,” she said.

He laughed and grabbed the hem of the T-shirt that she was wearing, but he was pretty sure that he wasn’t going to be surprised by what he found.

The scraps of material that she called a wedding dress didn’t do much to hide her perfect body.

He tossed her shirt to the floor next to his and looked over her body.

She was completely bare, and he wanted to touch and kiss her everywhere.

She reached for him, and he pulled her against his body, loving the way her bare skin felt against his own.

“You feel so fucking good, honey,” he said.

“You do too,” she breathed. He rolled her on top of his body, and she smiled down at him. “Wade,” she whispered just his name, and his damn heart felt like it was going to beat out of his fucking chest.

Harlow kissed her way down his body and settled between his legs. She licked her lips as she looked back up at him and smiled, and he held his breath, waiting for her to make the next move.

“You’re going to fucking kill me, woman,” he growled as he laid his head back, covering his eyes with his forearm.

“I promise to be gentle,” she teased as she tugged his sweatpants down his thighs, letting his erection spring free between them. She hummed her approval as she wrapped her hands around his cock. He nearly bucked off the damn bed.

“Fuck, honey,” he growled as she licked his shaft from root to tip.

She sucked him into her hot little mouth, and he was sure that he’d lose himself then and there.

Wade let her play with him for as long as he could take it before pulling her up his body.

Her hot core was rubbing on his cock, and it took all his restraint not to slide into her wet pussy.
