Chapter 6

Once Harvest left my suite, I spent the rest of the morning answering calls and text messages.

My parents were worried about me, but I told them I was fine.

I left out the part about Harvest because I needed to see how things played out first. If she agreed to see this thing through, then I would tell them.

For the time being, the only people who knew were my brother and my boys.

They were a part of my phone calls, and each one of them wanted to make sure I was certain about this thing with Harvest. I was as certain as I could be, given the circumstances and the time frame.

The date I managed to secure at the last minute would solidify if either one of us wanted to continue.

Money talked, and I had enough of it to show Harvest a good time.

She seemed to be caught off guard that I knew her name, but she didn’t come off as starstruck, and I was thankful for that.

I was sure she’d been around famous men anyway to not get excited.

After I handled my business, I got myself ready for the date.

I caught a few social media posts about my failed wedding, but luckily, I hadn’t seen anything about Harvest and me.

I was sure my brother made sure the people at the wedding chapel didn’t talk, and I knew there were no cameras around.

Money talked, and I was sure whenever I talked to my accountant, he would let me know just how much it cost me to keep my situation private.

I wanted to keep it that way, at least until we decided what we planned to do.

I didn’t need anyone else in my business for any reason.

Hopefully, it would come out when we wanted it to.

I had the urge to call Ivy to see why she did what she did, but honestly, the shit didn’t matter.

There was nothing she could say to make the situation better, and now my focus was elsewhere.

Even if Harvest decided she wanted to cut ties, I would never go back to Ivy.

What she did not only wasted my money, but it was embarrassing, and if I kept it real with myself, it was a blow to my ego.

I thought I gave her everything she wanted, but I guess it wasn’t enough.

I wanted to ask her what her ex could do that I didn’t, but it didn’t matter for real.

I knew that I was a good dude, and the right woman would appreciate it.

I wanted that woman to be Harvest, but only time would tell.

As I put the final touches on my ’fit for the night, there was a knock on my door.

I knew it wasn’t anyone but Noah. I told him he didn’t have to be with me tonight, but he insisted.

He thought that since shit was called off, even more people would try to approach me, and he didn’t want to take any chances.

I didn’t argue with him either, because it wouldn’t have been any point.

“You ready for your date with wifey?” Noah smirked as he entered the suite.

“I am. Is it crazy that I want things to go right because I want to stay with her?” I asked.

I picked my watch up from the table and put it on my wrist. I noticed earlier that I didn’t bother with trying to hide anything while Harvest was here.

To me, that was a sign that I was comfortable enough with her.

Something about her spirit made me feel like she was safe.

Even the fact that she didn’t bother to post anything about us or just me on the internet.

She could have easily made up some shit, but she didn’t.

It wasn’t like it had never happened before.

I could simply say hello to a chick, and within minutes, I’d be blasted on social media like I was just trying to push up on her.

I guessed it came with the territory. Maybe that was why Ivy left.

She didn’t like all the attention I had gotten over the years.

It increased every time I signed a new artist. From what I knew about her ex, he had money, but it wasn’t as long as mine.

Whatever it was, she made her choice, and there was nothing I could do about it.

“A little crazy, yes, but there is nothing wrong with going after happiness. I don’t know Harvest well, but everyone could see the chemistry between the two of you. She seems like a good chick, so I support it.”

“Thanks, bro.” I made sure I had my wallet and phone, then we headed out of the suite.

Harvest’s hotel was only a few minutes away, so it took us no time at all to get there.

When we arrived, Noah got out of the car first to make sure it wasn’t anyone lurking that shouldn’t have been.

When the coast was clear, I got out of the car.

I spoke to the doorman, then headed up to Harvest’s room.

I knocked on the door and waited a few seconds for her to open the door.

“Shit. I’m glad we got a private room. You look good as fuck, mama.” I stepped inside her room and let the door close. I wanted to push her ass against the wall, but I knew I needed to play this carefully. The dress she had on hugged every curve of her thick, beautiful ass body.

Her cheeks flushed as her eyes swept over my outfit. I kept it simple with a dress shirt, pants, and sneakers. I hardly ever wore dress shoes. I didn’t give a damn if it were a meeting or not; I wore sneakers because I liked to be comfortable.

“You look good too.”

“Thanks. You ready to go?” I glanced at the time on my watch. “We have a reservation in a few minutes.”

“I’m ready. I just have to grab my bag real quick,” she told me, then turned on her heels to go to the back of her room.

Her room was nice, and I could tell she had gotten comfortable in it because even though it was clean, she had a throw blanket on the couch. She also had a shirt hanging on the back of a chair, and I spotted a pair of furry slippers.

“Now I’m ready,” she said as she returned to the sitting room.

When she got close to me, I reached out and grabbed her hand. The scent of caramel and vanilla filled my nose, and that shit smelled good.

“Damn, you smell like dessert. I might have to taste you later.” I winked at her as we left her room.

“I might just let you.” She smirked then pressed the button for the elevator when we reached the end of the hall.

“I’m going to hold you to that.” I knew I might have been moving too fast, but I couldn’t help it. It was something about Harvest that made me want to explore every single part of her.

We reached the lobby, and when I walked her to my awaiting vehicle, Noah stood on the outside of it and opened the door.

I stood back and let Harvest get in first, making sure I blocked anyone’s view of her.

I didn’t need any random pictures of her panties or some shit popping up on the internet.

Once she was in, I got in behind her, and Noah closed the door.

He typically didn’t open and close my door, but this was a special occasion.

“He looks familiar, but I can’t figure out from where,” Harvest said as I got myself comfortable next to her.

“That’s one of my best friends and my bodyguard. He was there last night,” I informed her.

“Ooh, that’s where I’ve seen him. Maybe I remember a little more than I thought about our impromptu wedding.”

I chuckled as she rolled her eyes. Her scent filled the rental car, and if it were my car, I would want the scent in there at all times. Since this was supposed to be my wedding week, I rented a white Ghost, and there was no reason not to utilize it.

“I see that. Just like I see you have your ring on.” I sat with my chest a little more puffed out when I noticed she was wearing the ring. That was a good sign to me.

“I mean, look at it.” She held her hand out. “I don’t think beautiful is a good enough word to describe it.” She smiled as she glanced down at the ring again.

The way her eyes lit up, I didn’t think I would have the heart to ask for it back from her if she decided she wasn’t fucking with me. She seemed to really like it.

Since I didn’t have to drive, I could focus all my attention on Harvest.

“Security and a fancy ass car. You went all out, huh?”

“I always have security with me. You don’t have security?”

“No. I’m not big time enough for that.”

“Shit if you ain’t. You think it ain’t possible for a nigga to wait outside of your hotel room or something? I’ve seen the comments in your posts, and niggas is thirsty. I’m going to get one for you, and I’m not saying that because of our situation. You need to be safe at all times.”

She might not have known how crazy some people could get, but I’d seen it multiple times. She needed to be protected, whether she remained my wife or not. Harvest was more popular than she thought, and her safety would be a top priority for me.

“I guess I never really thought about it. If you insist on getting me one, then I guess I’ll have one.” She smiled, and it made my heart melt.

I lifted her hand and kissed the back of it, which caused her to blush. I loved it every time her cheeks reddened.

“Thank you.”

It didn’t take long to arrive at the restaurant.
