Bonus Chapter #4

As Maverick led Zera back to the dance floor, she couldn’t help but feel a mixture of emotions.

The revelation about Kraven’s position as the grand advisor to the queen of Obsidia, along with her father’s rather ominous warning of the unrest along the vampire border, left her with lingering questions.

Questions that can wait until after our honeymoon, Maverick’s inner voice purred down the bond, making heat coil within Zera’s core.

Maverick swayed her gently to the music, his gaze fixated on hers. “Did you have a good time today?”

“It was… unexpected” Zera said, a small smile playing on her lips. “I never imagined myself getting married, let alone to a werewolf.”

Maverick’s lips twitched. “Well, I never thought I’d end up with a feisty little pixie—”

“Careful, faeboy. Don’t forget I have the Whisper’s staff and I know how to use it,” Zera teased.

“Point taken,” Maverick said with mock surrender. “But seriously, I couldn't be happier. You and Cole are my everything.”

“Mine too,” Zera breathed, her eyes misting over.

Maverick leaned in, nipping at her earlobe, his citrus-and-bourbon scent mingling with her own sugary blend of lilac and spice. “So, about that honeymoon,” he whispered, sending a shiver down her spine.

Zera blushed but couldn’t help the thrill of anticipation that coursed through her veins. “I couldn’t agree more. Let’s go.”

Maverick smirked and took her hand in his, and together, they bid their farewells to their guests.

Once they were finally alone, Zera leaped into Maverick’s arms before shimmering them off to the Spire Alps in a cloud of purple smoke.

The crisp wind of the mountain air greeted them as they materialized outside a quant log cabin nestled at the foot of a range of mountains and framed with evergreens.

White snow blanketed the ground, glittering under the soft moonlight that bathed the alpine landscape.

To their right, beyond a frozen pond, lights from the small dragon-shifter town twinkled in the distance where they planned to dine and shop.

To the left stretched towering slopes, lined with lifts and gondolas designed for fae unable to fly.

It was there that Zera and Maverick planned to take ski lessons alongside the dragons.

But neither of them could think about skiing right now.

Not with the carnal need to claim each other pulsing through their bond.

The light smoke that puffed through the chimney of the cabin promised warmth and shelter, and as Maverick carried Zera across the threshold, his lips crashed into hers with passion and need.

Her hands tangled in his hair, eliciting a moan from Maverick, his wolfish instincts kicking in as he carried her over to the large four-poster bed draped in white linen that dominated the far wall across from the roaring fireplace, setting her feet down on the plush bearskin rug.

Maverick’s gentle but urgent kisses trailed down her neck, his hands deftly at work undoing the buttons of her wedding gown.

Zera’s skin tingled beneath his touch as his fingers continued to explore her curves, memorizing every inch of her.

Her breath hitched when the last button snapped free and the dress fell in a pool of skirts at her ankles.

Maverick’s heady gaze roamed her body before he pulled her against him.

Zera wrapped her legs around his hardened body, pulling him down onto the bed and on top of her with a squeal.

The air between them crackled with electricity and need as they tangled limbs and lips, their love burning hotter than any fire could provide.

“Maverick,” Zera moaned, arching into his touch when his fingers touched the sensitive nerves at her core.

He growled low in his throat, pressing his hardened length against her and sending delicious shivers through her body. “You have no idea how long I’ve waited to make you mine.”

“Then stop teasing me and claim me,” she said, nipping at his lips.

With a feral growl, Maverick obliged, his mouth and hands roaming her body at once.

Zera ripped his shirt from his shoulders while he unbuttoned his pants in between kisses to her lips, neck, and nipples.

He trailed kisses down her stomach, stopping to twirl his tongue over a very sensitive spot, and she moaned, her hips bucking.

Maverick’s deep chuckle taunted Zera even more as he took his hand, pinning her hips to the bed. She fisted the sheets, her eyes rolling back as his tongue swept across her in one long, slow lick, his breath sending goosebumps raising on her heated skin.

Zera gripped the sheets tighter, her nails sinking in as she arched against his until she reached the top and his fingers sent her over the edge.

“Please!” She begged, pulling against him. She needed him inside her. Now.

Maverick’s eyes blazed with desire and the primal need to claim her.

When she felt like she couldn’t take it anymore, he positioned himself at her entrance, throbbing with the need to be inside her.

Zera lifted her hips, and Maverick’s restraint broke with a growl as he thrust inside her, filling her up with every inch of him.

Zera gasped and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, her nails digging into his skin as their bodies meshed together.

It felt so right, like he was made for her.

Maverick groaned, his hips flexing as he plunged into her, his movements slow and leisurely.

Maverick gazed into her eyes, his hand caressing her face as if he couldn’t believe this was real.

A teasing gleam flickered in Zera’s eyes as she brought his thumb into her mouth and licked it as she would the length of him later.

Maverick licked his lips, his eyes flickering with desire as he read her dirty thoughts. Trying to tease me, are you?

Who, me? She responded through the bond. Never.

Zera grinned even wider, and Maverick growled, suddenly pulling out and flipping her onto her hands and knees.

She giggled in pleasant surprise as she braced herself on the headboard, his hands gripping her hips as he plunged into her again and again, his hand sneaking around her waist to tease her while he took her from behind.

Zera moaned loudly, her magic swirling under her skin as Maverick pounded into her, chasing her orgasm.

Gods, you’re gorgeous, he growled through the bond. And you’re mine.

Another wave of ecstasy crashed through her, and she met his thrusts with urgent desperation, her wings trembling in passion as she came apart in his arms, and at the same moment, he spilled himself inside her.

They collapsed together on the bed in a heap of limbs. For several moments they remained there, panting and spent, their heartbeats pounding in their ears. Zera relished the feel of his hot breath against her skin.

That… that was… Zera started through the bond, unable to form words.

Amazing? Maverick finished for her, his voice a low rumble even through their shared bond.

Zera laughed, turning her head and catching his lips in a searing kiss.

She would never get tired of this. Lying with the man of her dreams, her mate, and now her husband.

She reveled in the feel of him, his lips against hers, his tongue swirling against hers as he deepened the kiss.

She could feel him hardening again, and she giggled into the kiss. Greedy, aren’t we?

She could feel his smirk in his kiss, even as he rocked his hips against her.

Takes one to know one. Maverick chuckled, and she playfully slapped his chest. He captured her hand in his, placing a tender kiss on each of her fingers.

As much fun as that sounds, I think refreshments are in order. And perhaps a hot bath?

Zera let out a soft breath, his words music to her ears. “That sounds perfect.”

After finding soft robes, Maverick went in search of sustenance while Zera started the bath.

A claw-foot tub took up most of the bathroom with a giant window overlooking the mountains and the stars.

She filled it with hot water and a sprinkle of pixie dust, which caused the water to bubble like a hot tub.

The steam began to rise, and she felt her muscles relax at the sight of it.

Maverick’s footsteps neared from the kitchen, and he entered with a tray of assorted cheeses, fruits, and two steaming cups of tea. It was a honeymoon made of dreams, and Zera couldn’t imagine herself anywhere but here.

After everything they’d been through, all the hurdles they had battled, they were finally safe and together. For real this time, and for always.
