Chapter 18

EDDIE

April was a beautiful woman.

Yes, she was means to an end, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t going to enjoy our time together. That would be mean to myself.

And yes, I just used mean in three different ways. I’m a man of many skills.

April had paused for a slight second after I’d asked her to kiss me and told her no missionary. I could tell she had two voices in her head. One telling her to kiss me. The other telling her to run.

To my delight, she chose the former.

She took a shower after we’d had sex.

We were both sweaty messes, and I can’t blame her. She didn’t want to risk good old David smelling the sex on her. If I had to guess, it had been a long time since David and April had been as passionate as we’d just been. Maybe ever.

Before April turned to go, she asked me four more rapid-fire questions.

“Same time next Tuesday?”

I said yes.

“Did you hear what I said after my friend Margie went inside?”

I said yes again.

“So this is more than just about us having sex?”

I said yes a third time.

“Do you have a plan for getting some of David’s money?”

Why ruin a good thing? I said yes a fourth straight time.
