Chapter 44
DAVID
Iwas shocked at how well April took it.
I thought she was going to deny, deny, deny when I accused her of cheating on me, and then scream bloody murder when I said I didn’t believe her.
Instead, she acted like a grown-up and somehow managed to help me chill out, which had seemed impossible. I was as fired up as I’d ever been.
If only April had behaved like that during our marriage. Instead, she’d been an entitled, selfish, lazy wife. Not a partner, but an entity of her own.
I probably should have considered why she’d done a complete one-eighty on the night I accused her of adultery. Instead, I just focused on the positives, including that I had only seven more days left with her.
If she wasn’t out of our house by the following Tuesday, our little agreement was out the window.
I’d call my lawyer and thirty of my friends, telling them what April had done.
I’d grab a microphone and head out to center court at a Laker game and announce it to all of Los Angeles.
Everyone would hear what a duplicitous bitch she’d been.
I would stick to my agreement until then, however, as long as she stuck to hers. If she didn’t, Tuesday, she was mine.
