Chapter 59
EDDIE
Itried all I could to get back into Lucy’s good graces.
I brought her flowers one night and told her that I would cook for us the following night. And this was coming from a guy who never cooked.
If worst came to worst, and I found out that Lucy was considering divorcing me, I had to postpone it as long as I could.
David’s murder had occurred six days ago, and April was definitely still under suspicion from the police.
It’s not like I could tell her now was the time to kill my in-laws.
It was way too risky at this point, especially since I hadn’t even confirmed Lucy wanted to divorce me.
Plus, I’d always envisioned April killing Bruce and Iris in Tahoe.
The house was secluded and would be much easier to commit the murder up there.
It was possible to commit a murder in Los Angeles—shit, I’d just done it—but there were a lot more precautions you had to take compared to killing someone at a secluded house in Lake Tahoe.
So, I would wait until I had insurmountable proof that Lucy was considering divorcing me. But if that day comes, April would have to fulfill her end of the bargain.
One thing I can tell you for sure. I wasn’t going to be caught with nothing but my dick in my hand after murdering David Devers.
April was receiving somewhere around five million dollars and could flee the country once the investigation was over. What could I do? Tell the cops that I knew she’d partaken in David’s murder since I’d shot the man myself? Hardly.
But I was going to get my share, one way or another.
