Chapter 6 The Unexpected Encounter
Xie Fei’s changes were really too great. Seeing him once made me feel like a headless fly running around in panic.
Although I ended up not escaping him and was brought back to the palace by him, it seemed there wouldn’t be any major problems.
I pretend to die on the day he ascends the throne.
I watch him excitedly share his joy with me. The next second, under the System’s urging, I can’t hold back and spit out a mouthful of blood.
Then I see his smile freeze on his face. In its place comes a pale face and terrified eyes.
I collapse into his arms, my breath weak. “Don’t be sad. After I die, you should become a Wise Ruler.”
His eyes turn blood-red. He shouts something, but I can’t hear it clearly.
But now he is above ten thousand people with an impressive position. No one would dare bully him again.
After enduring this moment of pain, what awaits him is an infinite bright future.
I never imagined that only two years have passed since I left this world, and the world is already filled with war and turmoil.
“Master didn’t have anything to say to me?”
He smiles and advances toward me.
I step back step by step. “You… you listen to my explanation.”
Why fake death? Why run away?
I rack my brains.
Until I reach the edge of no retreat, I lean against the bed.
You wouldn’t believe it.
This scene makes even me, who is always good at arguing, pause. I can only shout frantically in my heart for the System.
But the System is as calm as if it had died. So I remain silent too.
Xie Fei smiles in a strange way. “Why isn’t Master explaining anymore?”
If he doesn’t speak, he can’t speak anymore.
I force a smile. “A-Fei… perhaps you still remember what I said before I died…”
“If there is another life, I will still be your Master.”
As I speak, the thoughts that had broken off due to tension and shock resume. I start to make things up without changing my expression.
“Perhaps the heavens felt my sincerity. I don’t need another life. In this lifetime, let me and you renew our teacher-student bond!”
Xie Fei is silent for a moment. He reaches out, and his cold fingertips probe my neck.
I shiver from the cold. I say tremblingly, “A-Fei, you you you… calm down.”
But Xie Fei does nothing. He only presses his fingers on my neck, feels for a moment, then shows a trace of a smile.
“You’re still alive.”
I am slightly stunned. He had been checking my pulse.
Before I can relax, Xie Fei says, “Master, I don’t believe your explanation.”
His sharp eyes are covered with a faint murderous aura. His pale face looks even more ghostly.
“Master, why don’t you think of another explanation? After all, right now…” He smiles slowly. “A-Fei isn’t that easy to fool.”
